yu just helped me understand the poem , yu are such a great teacher , I salute yu if it wasn't for yu i wouldn't have understood this poem , may the Almighty bless yu for your hard work , may you yield interesting results
@@CaitlinJessica Good morning Caitlin . I have this question if you can help me which says "in what ways does Angelou use imagery to memorable effect in Caged Bird" Thank you so much for your help
@@youraccamavusa740 Hey there! Angelou uses a mixture of similes, metaphors, rhyme, repetition, assonance and other figures of speech to create memorable images within the mind of the reader. Angelou presents us with contrasting images of a caged bird and a free bird which are symbolic for someone who is oppressed and someone who experiences freedom. The poem paints a picture of a carefree bird in a beautiful landscape (someone who is free) which is contrasted by a caged bird who suffers and cries out for freedom (someone who is oppressed). I hope this makes sense!
@@CaitlinJessica thank you @Caitlin. It really helps. I also have a problem with introduction and conclusion. I will be glad if you can help me. God bless you!!
Sorry I'm so late but thank you so much for this analysis I have a literature essay on this poem tomorrow and hopefully I will do well. You're the best
Thank u soooooooo much 🙏😩 we really appreciate your efforts. I never knew de poem was this easy and understandable, in fact it was one of de poems I never liked because of how difficult it was for me, but u made me realized how interesting n easy it is.
thank you sooo much! you explain really well, i'm going to ACE my exam on Tuesday!!! btw i realized you look really similar to a stunning Turkish actress Pınar Deniz when your hair's down and no glasses. have a fantastic day 💕
Hi mam Do you have an example of how one can write a poetry essay using the caged bird poem? Or do have tips on writing a poetry essay about the caged bird?
Hi Nilam! I'm so sorry for the late reply. At the beginning of the third stanza, Angelou writes that "The caged bird sings / with a fearful trill." These lines are repeated again at the beginning of the sixth stanza. The effect of this refrain is to emphasize through repetition the fear of the caged bird, but also its hope. Indeed, although the bird's singing is "fearful," Angelou wants to emphasize the fact that the caged bird keeps on singing (does not lose hope). This alludes back to the point made above. Angelou believes that one's nature can not be completely destroyed, even by a something (symbolic for the cage) or someone who suppresses it.
So I just had an assessment the other day and this poem came up in one of our assessments where it was an “unseen poem” meaning it’s our first time seeing this. I’m just wandering how am I supposed to know without knowing what Angelou’s background was that this poem is about black inequalities…. Is there anywhere that gives it away because I ended up writing about some war and that despite your trapped in your country singing will escape and your voice will have freedom…..
I understand your lesson very on the caged bird but i would love if u hlp me to write down on each of the themes of the caged bird and explain thoroughly on each theme
How could this poem link to post colonial meanings as I am doing an essay about this poem and her other poem “equality” and I am unsure on what points I could make about this poem and post colonialism?
Hi Caitlin, thank you so much for your video, the in-depth coverage of the topic helps me understand the poem much better. This makes it an excellent material for my students who are covering this poem sometime this week.. Would it be alright to show your video in my classroom?
