    Plain and simple -- the Gen Coupe appeals to the person that wants to drive one. Why is everyone concerned with what other people think? Check the original sticker price for what you got with the car. Then check today's re-sale values. My '16 is at 100k and running strong. In 70K miles of ownership, all I have replaced is the battery and the tires --once. The build quality is excellent based on a Honda or a Toyota. The painted interior parts (door handles) don't hold up to daily use. But, otherwise, it's tight and there's no rattles. Here's a clue in: the tear drop window has a very important interior and safety function. You can look out and see another oncoming out of the rear passenger's side. In comparison to a Z car's which is practically useless. And, let's not even talk the chopped roof of a Camaro. The car was meant to compete with Mustang, Camaro & a Nissan Z car. Again, each with their own style. But, if you stack them up side by side for the price, the original warranty, and the resale value you'll figure out quick what the best choice for what a very reliable, daily driven sports car. PS - the last I checked the dashboard computer ( while running on non-eth 93 0ctane fuel )I was getting right at 28 MPGs. The engine has a life of it's own, above 80-MPH. Top speed 149...Yes. No, it doesn't have 600-HP and it's not meant to. Leave that to the V-8's. If you can find one of these cars with lower miles, non-modified under the hood, and well taken care of - ***buy it***. I think you'll be very impressed in the long run. And, it easily still turns heads. It's a rear wheel drive coupe for God's sake!!! If I could only afford two more in my garage, maybe in the Tsukuka Red and Ibiza Blue Pearl. Thank you for making these cars Hyundai. You really hit it out of the park!!!!

    I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 at 71,000 miles now. In the far future, I either plan to have a built 2.0 motor installed, or have it LS swapped. Unfortunately, based on all the research I did in 2020 and 2021 on the car, they are not capable of high horsepower numbers without heavily built engines. The highest range from 600 to 800whp, but very rare. Most owners blow their engines with these cars. I am keeping mine stock for a long time until I figure out what to do.

    I had a 3.8 track for 9 years. I grew up in the 90s even having several legendary jdm cars. However, i got the most compliments with the lines and style of this car. How many do i see on the road ? Almost never so on the contray , the car is unique and underated even if the designer had inspiration from other jdm heavyweights. Also it only cost me 10 grand

    Great review
    I think this car is a great choice if you want something good or fun for a reasonable price and while some would say the car was a bit underpowered or that it didn’t have that big of a tuning potential I honestly don’t know I think it’s more than enough at stock as a drivers car like a GR86 for example
    With all of that being said, I don’t know what this car is supposed to compete with like I can’t exactly tell

    • @AllCarswithJon
      @AllCarswithJon  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment. I'm not into the tuning scene so I have no clue what makes a good car or a bad one for that. :)
      I agree with you, and that was my conclusion at the end. It was a good/fun car, but I can't tell you who they aimed for.

      @@RoadRunnergarage8570 And that's what I said in the review. I think it's the "Genesis" name that hangs me up. It's a good car, probably bigger than a GTI, similar to a Z-car, and the whole time I was driving it I was thinking "I'd rather have this than a Camaro or Challenger".

    Hey there Jon. I was wondering if you could come up with a video on the Hyundai Sonata. I’ve got a 2002 model that’s in like new condition and it always gets complements. This body ran from 2002-2005 and seems to be the kickoff of Hyundai’s war on it’s poor quality reputation. 132,0000 and still going strong with the V6. Thank you!

      I don't, I borrowed this from a viewer. He loves his (haven't heard any feedback yet from him on what I said in the video). I think his only opinion is two things:
      1. Not great gas mileage. Of course, his roomie drives a hybrid so that's the comparison. :)
      2. Tires (perhaps rear) are an off-size so a bit harder to find?

    • @princehanma5078
      @princehanma5078 2 года назад +2

      I got you, I have a 2015 3.8 R Spec.
      First, gas mileage isn’t too bad. I usually average around 18-20 mpg city driving and of course with occasionally hard driving.
      A lot of owners tend to end up blowing their motors due to oil starvation. Make sure you are checking oil levels at least weekly. Could even check while you’re filling up the gas station.
      The first mod you should get is a catch can, check out “How to build your 3.8 (Upgrade Path v2) on the genesis coupe forums to find out why as well as get more info on modding and maintenance.
      A couple issues I’ve had with mine are sloppy shifts (due to hyundai’s horrible shifter bushings and trans mount). There’s a terrible rev hang sometimes while driving after a warm start but it goes away after a few shifts. From what I’ve heard, a tune or maybe even replacing the DMF (Dual mass flywheel) can work.
      Make sure you check the tail light gaskets. Most of them are known to go bad turning your trunk into a swimming pool after it rains hard. You can either get new gaskets or new tail lights to fix that issue.
      Also, don’t expect to make a whole lot of power out of the 3.8. If you’re lucky you can make around 320whp with the right mods.
      But yeah, it’s a fun car and I enjoy driving the hell out of it. If you do decide to get one, take good care of it and it’ll take good care of you.

    I would say that the Genesis Coupe was not built as a luxury coupe. This was more of a replacement for the old Tiburon.

    • @AllCarswithJon
      @AllCarswithJon  8 месяцев назад

      It was such a mix. The 'Genesis' name was trying to move upscale to compete with 'luxury' brands, but the car felt more like a muscle car.
      The more I think about it, the more I kind of liked it's mix. :)

      @@AllCarswithJon I'm willing to bet that if the V8 from the Hyundai Genesis sedan(4.6 liters or 5.0 liters) was put in the Genesis Coupe, it would have been a real muscle car. Food for thought.

    That interior looks well put together like the Japanese automakers do. That is awkward that the door controls are put a high angle instead on the door arm rest

      @@vfwm4879 so far, I don’t really have any besides the rear tires are hard to find and usually have to be special ordered due to the size they are, but that’s typically not an issue.
