"just bask in it people....satch legato run" one of the most indescribable awesome, epic, euphoric feeling, goosebumps, tears of happiness, crave for more, followed by melody...
pretty amazing track.... sounds like this album is going to impress me more than some of the last ones... I can't believe we didn't have time at GuitCon to nerd out about our love for Satriani..... maybe we should do an "hommage to Satch" together.....
I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Vai and told him that I learned of him because of Satriani's musical influence on me and he told me "Joe Satriani will ALWAYS be my guitar hero"! Pretty cool coming from a guy that is such a technical pioneer of the instrument and instrumental guitar music!
One of my favorites, too. I think what makes him special to me is he can make his guitar sing. Like a vocalist can fill a song, his guitar does. I've learned more from listening to Satch than many of face to face teachers.
As a guitarist with 2 years of "experience" I just started to write my own song, nothing special but challenging and a great way to learn. So thank you so much for introducing me to such a great Guitarist. I should feel embarrassed for not knowing him till now I guess, but I love to know more and listen to what other great ppl do and what I can learn from them - with you included! Thank you Music is Win! You´re one of the reasons Im never gonna give up! - Fanboy, over and out!
Man I've been following your content ever since you got 1000+ subscribers. I thought you'd lose it by now but your content keeps getting better and better
tyler did you notice that his live version has a beastly solo part? practically everytime he plays live he takes the song to a new level, constantly evolving and adding beautiful details
Satriani is definitely one of the very BEST guitarists on planet earth. I wouldn't say he's primarily pentatonic based as he uses pretty much all the diatonic modes, especially in "Surfing with the Alien." I actually saw him live when this album came out as we were about 3-4 rows back and I bought the album that day. Such a great song & PHENOMENAL musician! Just saw him at the end of Oct. at The Beacon Theatre and I even got my friend's guitar his parents gave to me after he suddenly passed a little over 7 months ago. Such a great show and overall experience! Keep rockin' brotha! :)
Great video, as usual! I'm surprised by how many people in the comments section didn't already know Satch. My question is why aren't you subscribed to him?😉
Dude I remember the first time I heard Lights of Heaven. My uncle’s friend sold me a JS100 as my first “real” guitar so I had to check him out. Thank you for this video, totally reminded me who my original guitar hero was.
This is one of the few songs I've liked from him. His generic deeply rooted "rock and roll" vibe doesnt really tickle my brain. This feels.... Different
Good to see a man's new discovery! Hope this will change your music world, like it changed mine, years ago ;).... "Crystal Planet" is one of the best, imho.
Adam Bayer love thing n meaning of love maybe very underrated but those two songs are the examples of how songs are written. How a story is told through instrumental music
every beginner-intermediate guitarist thinks they have to play 1000000 notes in a second to be the best. they forget joe only needs one legato bar to be the greatest. oh, and albert king only hit like 5 notes in every of his show and still one of the greatest. it's not how many notes you play, it's how you play it.
Glad to see that you actually talked about the song during the song! This is what a reaction video should be. A REACTION not taking shots at other people but I'm glad you didn't just film yourself listening to it xD awesome Tyler!🤘🏻
Hey Tyler, it's honestly first "reaction " video I ve ever enjoyed. Great commentary , cool inside... I would not be mad if you made more videos like that
I always look forward to the Sunday jams! Love the different styles that you play, but you still have your own tone. Do you have a second place where you still post those?
So it's been nearly 10 minutes, can you play it yet?! Good to hear new stuff from him. Saw him on the 'Extremist' tour in 1993 I think. Would love to be able to play 'surfin with the alien'...
So glad you did this. I don’t listen to Satch as a rule, I prefer blues guitar over virtuoso/shredding, but this...I like...a lot! Great song that I would have never heard without your influence. Thank you.
> YOU ROCK ME & FUN SIR WITH YOUR REACTION , I"M HUGE FAN GUITARIST OF JOE SATCH ,.. LOVE IT ,, :) NO ONE COMPARE TO HIM AS A GENIUS MELODY COMPOSER ,...
I don't listen to Satriani all that much, but this song is awesome! I had the same reaction as you when the song kicked into high gear and I did get the "pricklies" (lol) at the 3:05 part.
It's probably my ignorance on music terminology, but I swear there's a solo in the middle. Ya know, where it goes quiet and builds towards that legato run?
Hey Tyler how often do you listen for intervals in music? I'm in music theory class and I'm currently learning about identifying intervals and learning to harmonize and I was just curious with what you do.
I'm confused. How do you identify guitar solos in Guitar instrumental songs? Is it like, the repeating part is the melody, and the other part is the solo?
So, it's a mix between Chickenfoot and Black Country Communion, but with a different Joe. Hmm... I think I'm going to call it Black Chicken Country Communion Foot. xD
I feel like Joe might have listened to some Gary Moore/ Thin Lizzy "Celtic influenced Rock" style songs when he was creating this song. ;) Really reminds me of Black Rose, Over The Hills and Far Away, and Thunder Rising. Awesome stuff, hope to see this one live!
I got started when I was a kid listening to Joe. My dad had a flying in a blue dream album. Still my favorite. That's were i would start. That was 29 yrs ago lol
Let me complain. I wanted a guitar solo! I would say keep doing reactions. You being a skilled guitarist brings a different perspective to explaining the riffs I appreciate it. I can't overstate having no solo sucks!
Music is Win not ignorant or trolling! Love Joe and love your channel. In this song the guitar plays a melody where vocals would be. So he's basically playing a melodic solo were the vocals would be.. Correct??
Is it a perfect song? Joe fans expect a wicked solo in his rocking tunes. Here, he gives us a bunch of his well-known licks and keeps us in suspense until the very end when you realize there's no solo. This leaves you in a state of tension - wanting more! I think a lot of artists today don,t know how to do that. They throw everything they have into every song (to impress maybe?). Then you hear their next song and it kinda sounds the same. There's nothing new.

Yes. Yes we shall.
Shockwave Supernova is also amazing imho ;p

More like a cup of joe...satriani 😂
Jim Dewd I totally thought the same thing! Haha
THANK GOD I'M NOT ALONE! WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY AND WASTE OF A JOKE
Your air drumming reminded me of every band practice where one of the guitarists would try to convey a beat to me.
you missed the killer chance to have a cup of “joe”
Daddy Juice dammit that would've been perfect
I legit was waiting for him to say that! LOL 😂

Tyler L Lights of Heaven is sooooo good
First ever satriani song i've listened.... holy shit
I congratulate you on finding one of the finest guitar players in existence :)
This is one of the few songs I've liked from him. His generic deeply rooted "rock and roll" vibe doesnt really tickle my brain. This feels.... Different
Christian Lopez I recommend you listen to The Extremist album. My personal favourite!
Good to see a man's new discovery! Hope this will change your music world, like it changed mine, years ago ;).... "Crystal Planet" is one of the best, imho.

every beginner-intermediate guitarist thinks they have to play 1000000 notes in a second to be the best.
they forget joe only needs one legato bar to be the greatest.
oh, and albert king only hit like 5 notes in every of his show and still one of the greatest.
it's not how many notes you play, it's how you play it.
No doubt....That's what it's all about...people who don't realize this need to wake up
Yup they actually FEEL the music instead if using their mind so much it all comes from the heartland
Pure inspiration!!!!
Glad to see that you actually talked about the song during the song! This is what a reaction video should be. A REACTION not taking shots at other people but I'm glad you didn't just film yourself listening to it xD awesome Tyler!🤘🏻
This was awesome! Very funny and entertaining watching you rock out in this vid! I thought I was the only one who rocked out like that. High five!
Oh yeah man that WAS FUN!! SAW SATCH live in Minneapolis on Feb 24 and it was so so so good. Wow wow wow

Funny when I listened to this song I thought "I bet Tyler is excited about this too," and here you are.
I always look forward to the Sunday jams! Love the different styles that you play, but you still have your own tone. Do you have a second place where you still post those?

So glad you did this. I don’t listen to Satch as a rule, I prefer blues guitar over virtuoso/shredding, but this...I like...a lot! Great song that I would have never heard without your influence. Thank you.

U have a deep voice! That's cool
You introduced me to this guy and I am in love.
One of the all time greats, the Satchnator!
Do more of these videos
It's probably my ignorance on music terminology, but I swear there's a solo in the middle. Ya know, where it goes quiet and builds towards that legato run?
No guitar solos? The whole song is a collection guitar solos and riff awesomeness
You missed the opportunity to say nice hot steaming cup of JOE
Ohhh Yeahhh babby! Give me that riff.. Ohh yeahh! Give me that riff!! 😂
DAMN!!! This is awesome!
Hey Tyler how often do you listen for intervals in music? I'm in music theory class and I'm currently learning about identifying intervals and learning to harmonize and I was just curious with what you do.
React to Satch's latest single release, Cherry Blossoms! Personally I'm in love with the song!
I'm confused. How do you identify guitar solos in Guitar instrumental songs? Is it like, the repeating part is the melody, and the other part is the solo?
Chad adds some nice power with his drumming.
I liked your reaction vid. You should do more. 👍🏻
I swear when I saw the thumbnail I thought Joe was in the room with you
Very much Ceremony-ish....I am in.
The legend that is Chad Smith on drums

So, it's a mix between Chickenfoot and Black Country Communion, but with a different Joe. Hmm... I think I'm going to call it Black Chicken Country Communion Foot. xD

Thanks
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh when you started flailing your arms I started flailing mine
Tyler you rock man and so does satch 🖖🏻
I feel like Joe might have listened to some Gary Moore/ Thin Lizzy "Celtic influenced Rock" style songs when he was creating this song. ;)
Really reminds me of Black Rose, Over The Hills and Far Away, and Thunder Rising. Awesome stuff, hope to see this one live!
That riff on 2:45 reminds me so much of Mississippi queen
have you seen rick graham's Time cover? it's AMAZING
Hey hey hey awesome ............
Cool video!
What is a minor third?
In simple terms, the note just before the major third e.g. G-A-B(B=major third), in this context B flat would be the minor third. Hope that helped 😁.
Ashwin A.V.L Thank you!!
My dream is a satch vai collab album!!
awesome fantastic Satchthunder!!!!
I want to get into Satriani and dream theater, any album suggestion?
Ibanezguitars Thank you man!

A dramatic turn of events-Dream Theater

Shockwave Supernova
Love your technical insight into the song. Wish i could hear a song and break down whats happening. Do more so i dnt have to 😅
Let me complain. I wanted a guitar solo! I would say keep doing reactions. You being a skilled guitarist brings a different perspective to explaining the riffs I appreciate it. I can't overstate having no solo sucks!
i like this reaction but its honest and slightly educational as well
Awesome, why not do the rest of the album
The whole song is a guitar solo. Dork.
Not sure if ignorant or just trolling XD
Music is Win not ignorant or trolling! Love Joe and love your channel. In this song the guitar plays a melody where vocals would be. So he's basically playing a melodic solo were the vocals would be.. Correct??
Roger Philabaum actually that's the melody or aka the verse.. A guitar solo separates itself from the song. There was none of that here.
Rob Jarrett Ok. Whatever.
What do you use to edit
These kinds of reaction videos where the reactor really knows his shit and could break it down..are legit..imo..
Is it a perfect song? Joe fans expect a wicked solo in his rocking tunes. Joe Satriani** UnStoppable Momentum Live
Heh Tyler, if you're up for second cup of rock, that Energy track is ridiculous!!
I wouldn't have that the middle section was a melody. Organic phrasing
Luv it mate! Sometimes less is more right?
