    7:06 thank me later
I hope this video answers a lot of questions about what I do for a living, how I can afford to keep chasing this goal of College Hockey. Time will tell if this was a good idea but regardless, I want to thank you for sticking around to watch all of this unfold.
Wednesday's video is a little overdue and addressing the old "montage" days. What happened to those NHL Goalie montages? See you back on Wednesday morning for that :)

If it's a good idea? Dude it's a great idea. The longer you can live the dream the better. I got a "real job" at 17. It sucks. Its 1/3 of life to be able to enjoy a couple hours a week that you hope will carry you through. If this is what you want to do dont ever give up on it. The shittiest day on the ice beats the best day in the factory. And it's not close.

Good for you Trav, I'm happy for you man. It's tough, I recently hung them up, but now I held coach other kids to help teach them what I know. I still love the game of hockey and goaltending. I miss strapping on the pads though. It's good to see that you're still getting after it and doing youtube videos. Your videos really put a smile on my face when I'm having a bad day and getting hit by that little rubber biscuit. Keep it up man, I'm truly happy for you. Keep it up man!

New subscriber. Love your channel.. I just got back on the ice and first time in net in December. Because mom can't say goalie is too expensive when your 33 lol.
I learned quite a bit from you and your coaches. Which helped and hindered actually, because I found that my brain knew more then my body could perform. Lol. And as an adult rookie with a full-time job and a family it's hard to even get practice ice time and impossible to get actual coaching. I've actually taken inspiration from your and Wayne's channel and though about vlogging my own journey from the perspective of an adult who never stepped in the crease.
As a life long football player from, a hockey family, from Hamilton Ontario. I know the struggles of chasing the dream.. You have the attitude, the drive, and the smarts to set yourself up for the best shot at pro hockey of some kind. Personally I only made it to the pro indoor football level .. it's no C or NFL but I got paid to play the game .. and at this point in my life I'll take it..
And I really can't for the life of me understand how you haven't caught on somewhere just because of your work ethic and dedication to your craft .
Sorry for the long ass comment .. lol

At 07:50 this is really where rubber meets the road and why it is so hard to break into the elite level leagues if you go a non-traditional route (i.e. high school, juniors, D1) There are always good goalies coming out every year and to get any attention you have to not only be as good as those guys but much better to overcome the coaches skepticism as to why this guy was not already picked up. It is a rough battle man I have been there and eventually did give up on the dream (not saying you should or shouldn't). When I was done I felt lost for quite a while... It is all you do for most of your life growing up and then the transition to real life was really difficult to accept. But know that if you do decide to move on you will be surprised as to what other things you can be passionate about and truly enjoy just as much as hockey. Right now I feel like you are missing an opportunity to start a goalie coaching consulting business using youtube, your own site, etc. With your videography skills, training experience, passion, and love of the game you would sell yourself short by putting all your eggs in one basket (being a college or pro level goalie). It can be super rewarding to help younger kids get better and watch them develop, there is so much opportunity with the knowledge you have gained through youtube and your hockey journey, maybe it is time to look to other ways to take advantage of it. There are lots of areas that are looking for goalie coaches... I am in Northern MN and there are only one or two legitimate ones in the area. Good Luck man.

There are plenty of opportunities with a business degree other than sitting in a cubicle. You're ambitious with hockey and there's no reason why you can't do that in the world of business. Don't sell yourself short - you've already made this successful channel. But besides all that, follow your dream!

Honestly you have a few things going in your favor.
    Size is in your favor.
    Age you're still young.
You have the skill and muscle memory are there.
You can make any save, just need to clean up some things.

I disagree with your coach here trav, lots of guys signing in the coast or high level Europe deals out of usports! Also U of Alberta beat Minny Duluth this year, obviously D1 as a whole is stronger but Usports isn’t far behind. Obviously he is a veteran and knows his stuff, but times are changing

do yourself a favor and stop referring to other work as a real job. do you do this for more than 20 hours a week? (yes) do you make money to support yourself? (yes, i think). I have a 9-5 there are ups and downs to consider, benefits and stuff but youre young and have time. Make as much money with this as possible.

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  4 года назад +1
