Abandoned Nuclear Facility Exploration in Quehanna Wilds!

- This was a really fun filled 3 day trip to the PA Wilds! Jamie, Mark and myself embark on an adventure to experience a new trail we found on OnX Offroad, as well as find and submit one of our own trails to OnX! One of the cool things we discover in this episode is an area I've been wanting to explore - the old Cold War Quehanna nuclear testing facility where Curtiss-Wright tested nuclear jet engines in an attempt to create an aircraft that could stay in continuous flight for extended periods of time. The mission was eventually scrapped, and very little documentation is available to the public. If you have any links to photos, or info on these projects I'd love to check it out, and maybe do another video on this sometime!

Fun fact. We were in Tram and Peale Rd on January the 21st. We went to Spruce Creek Tavern for dinner and then instead of going into Rothrock, we went to Black Moshannon out across the game lands and up Dug Road to check out the group camping area for a Cub scout trip.
We then went out Tram road and Peale Rd and home through Clearfield...missed you by like just over 12 hours...

I used to explore the jet engine site in the '80's. I actually camped overnight in one of the bunkers...good times! The is a lot of history in the area. You are right, before the Internet these sites were largely unknown.

The timing may have been coincidental
The Vermont trip didn't claim my transmission. It was acting up before the trip. A few weeks after the trip, it went into limp mode and died. It had 250k miles on it, so I got my use out of it.

Nah the dentist wants to hit you with dose of way more direct radiation to your face than you’d ever encounter in the wild on the surface of the earth. If I was gonna go explore uranium mines maybe I’d be concerned
