Chubzdoomer There wasn't anything called "rock" back then, they had different personalities and different tastes of music, that's part of the reason of why i love the medieval era.

    • @HarriBlaidd
      @HarriBlaidd 7 лет назад +4

I'm not sure about the veracity of this but, i heard a medieval recreationist say that "hurdy gurdy" is supposed to mean "rock your bottom", therefore Chubzdoomer's comment wouldn't actually be far from the truth

As to the Pirate Theme, look up the opening to the Black Sails television series, they have a great opening and use the hurdy gurdy there as well. As for the "bee" sound, that's called a drone.

NO MAN it's got, like, 7 strings on it.
So it's like a violin then?
NO, none of that bow bullshit. This has got a fucked up wheel spinning in it and you spin it with a crank on the bottom.
You're drunk. No such instrument could be built.
Yes I am. And I built it yesterday.

Maybe I'll hit the string with some wooden blocks. Yeah, that's go good. I'll put it in the church so we don't have to hear my shrew of a wife."
"Tobias, you're drunk. You can't just put a wheel on some strings. I'll sound terrible, and the church services are far too long already."
      "I can't? I already did it."

So? the Israelites walked around this really large city playing their music and the "walls came tumbling down", so bad music or poor walls? Now the FBI played the same sad music night and day in Waco, Texas and they gave up without a fight. So bad music or poor ears? Music just how powerful is it? Your birthday without a song? Christmas without a Merry Christmas song, lets see...a dog barking is for your birthday and the wind blowing is for Christmas and a mother looking at her new born but never thinking about a lullaby. Maybe the world would be better without some bands and or some singers or some instruments, however you decide is how you should live in your cave on your mountain all by your lonesome self, because I like music the noise and the instruments noise, you know...the music.

It can be found all over Europe in folk traditions from Poland & Hungary to France & Spain. Check out videos on RUclips by German Diaz, Gregory Jolivet & Efren Lopez.

For some reason in my mind I always thought a hurdy gurdy was some sort of box that had a c a n e sticking out of the bottom to stabilize and a crank and a little monkey attached on a leash to collect Penney's from children! I never realized it had a fretboard like a guitar. I was able to acquire Donovan l e i t c h e s autograph the author of the 1968 hit the Hurdy Gurdy Man. Howdy from Dallas Texas

For real, this is awsome. Like the eddie van halen of hurdy gurdy. And hurdy gurdy face should now be a thing. Its a step more intense than guitar face. It goes to 11. Thank you for sharing your talent

+Xanatrix Zadare Must not take much to make you laugh. I though it was too easy of a joke. Actually surprised that he went for it.

I try to be a merry person. It's mostly the LSD part; having done it myself, I understand perfectly.

Sounds wonderfully mystical. The hurdy-gurdy is the cornerstone for much of Loreena Mckennitt's sound including The Mummers Dance.

Matthias Loibner. Musical skills? Phenominal. Wardrobe skills? ...They leave something to be desired. But that's just my opinion. Then again, look at how most Epic-level D&D bards dress and you start to see a connection.

Very beautiful music!. I recommend you listen to "Himno Gallego (solo de zanfona) por Eloy Vázquez" played with his hurdy-gurdy.

Someone has been listening to a lot of Bulgarian folklore music :)

  • @sandiyy

Most of it is bulgarian folklore. (odd time signatures, phrasing, harmony, ornamentation) Instrument in this particular piece kinda resembles bulgarian bagpipes. The composition even has the theme from a popular folk song "Devojko mari hubava". Мистерията на българските гласове-Девойко мари хубава

When you are drinking beer outdoors in Berlin in the summer, wasp comes over and...:
    "Was machen Sie?"
    "Was machen Sie?"
    "Was machen Sie?"
    ....
    "Was machen Sie?"...
    ...
    "Dein Bier riecht gut."

I just accidentally put this on at the same time as Move Bitch by Ludacris and it is a close runner up to the most fun I have ever had in my life
