Lumpiang ubod, also known as heart of palm spring rolls, is a Filipino appetizer consisting of julienned ubod (heart of palm) with various meat and vegetables in a thin egg crêpe. It is commonly served fresh (as lumpiang sariwa)
I love Max's since childhood. It is not only the oldest Fried Chicken restaurant in the Philippines but it has the most delicious fried chicken with less fats and no flour. The original one.
*The best halo-halos for me are in the provinces. The ones in buko, they're called buko-halo. The halo-halo ingredients are literally placed in a semi-opened young coconut, allowing you to also scrape off the coconut meat while mixing the halo-halo. Sometimes the resto/place already has the coconut meat scraped and mixed with the halo-halo, so all you need to do is eat the whole thing.*
Finally you tried Max’s . One of the best and classic . Please try their crispy pata. Something epic!!! And the fresh vegetable lumpia with the peanut sauce should have been mixed before eating. Like halo halo .
For a record, this satisfied me over watching a blogger mixed pretty well a halo-halo which is the right way of eating to enjoy the real taste of it👌👌👌
the ingredient inside the lumpia is the ubod or bamboo shoots... we call that specific lumpia variant a FRESH LUMPIA... the fried lumpia variant has monggo sprouts... and the lumpiang shanghai has ground prok...
The wrapped dish is called fresh lumpia, the inside has fresh veggies. The sauce that I remember eating fresh lumpia with is pineapple sauce with peanut.
The one with the peanut sauce is commonly known as fresh lumpia. In mindanao we usually fill it with turnips, crushed peanuts along with other fresh veggies .
Max’s restaurant is awesome. They have a wide range of menu items to choose from. They’re all Filipino dishes, which I think is great, considering there’s more tourists who are interested in giving Filipino cuisine a try. I hope you guys had a fine dining experience. Best of luck to you in your future content.
You guys are getting good at using the spoon and fork the Filipino way. Excellent job! Lumpiang Ubod or Fresh Lumpia is made of bamboo shoots filling. I have no idea what the wrapper is made of, I'm guessing cornstarch or something but it's Fresh Lumpia is one of my favorites. Also, Filipinos treat Pancit as a main dish. You will find Filipinos eating Pancit and Rice as pair. Leche Flan, another one of my favorite Filipino dessert, is made of evap milk, condensed milk, egg yolk (or both yolk and white), caramel syrup (melted sugar), and vanilla extract. It's possible that the lemony taste was vanilla or perhaps they intentionally put a drop of lemon or calamansi in it.
Fresh lumpia,is made of vegetable, inside the fresh lumpia are, turnips, carrot, orbthe young bamboo ,we make frsh lumpia ,the sauce is made of cornstarch, red sugar and nuts, with garlic very deluciuos, thats my favorite.
the food wrap with a peanut sauce is fresh lumpia (lum-pi-ya) or lumpiang (lum-pi-yang) ubod. Ubod is a bamboo shoot or some would use heart of palm and other fresh vegetables.
You may wanna try eating Max’s fried chicken next time with Jufran banana ketchup (it goes well specifically with the Jufran brand) mixed with some drops of Worcestershire sauce.
Fresh ubod is the palm heart , which is used as a filling for fresh lumpia. That’s not a potato but ubod. There’s a Max’s restaurant in Glendale, Calif., Milpitas, Calif. and in South San Francisco.
Good you were able to try Max's one of the clasic restos in the the Philippines. The usual dip for the chicken is a mix of banana catsup, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. You also had fresh lumpia ubod. Ubod is the pith/heart of a coconut tree which tastes like turnip. You should also try Savory Chicken which is competitor of Max's Chicken.
Calamansi or lemon zest is added to the leche flan to remove the eggy smell we call it "lansa" the bad smeel from the egg... It's not fishy but usually the smell comes from the yolk
For me the best halo halo is from digman in Cavite . Its so creamy. It has coconut milk & so delicious. I love Max ' s fried chicken & beef kare- kare. Try to eat also Reyes chicken barbeque dip in peanut sauce. Its so yummy. The leche means milk . It made of egg yolk, sugar & milk. Did you already tried Lechon & Lechon.paksiw?
💕💕💕good to see you mixed the halo-halo better this days…stirring it well gives the best of its real taste 🤪😁enjoy your stay guys 💕may you be still here this coming December celebrating the Christmas 🎄🤶 🎄 🎅🏻 🎄 noises 🤣🤣🤣with Filipinos 💕💕💕
Yup, Tyler and Isaac just need to convince the parents to spend the Holidays in a Tropical country instead of the frozen Tundra! :D I hope they can do it. Holidays in the Tropics is a whole different experience and in PH, it's definitely wonderful.
The best Halo- halo I tried would be Razon's and Kuya J. Their ice is smooth, almost like ice cream. You guys are so natural and honest. Welcome to the Philippines!.
Max is one of the oldest restaurant in the Philippines. chicken is their specialty. lumpia inside is vegetables young bamboo shoots carrots shrimps and sauce. hope you enjoy your food take care always.
You will enjoy your Maxs Fried chicken if you will make a special sauce a combination of catsup and Worcester sauce. That's is why there is always available of those two sauce in every table of maxs restaurant.
The BEST Halo - Halo ever in the Philippines and quite pricey rather than other look for RAZON’s thats the TOP even its crushed ice canot duplicate,..and the MILK is still its secret thats why so Delicious the 2nd maybe it Kuya J Halo-halo?.,,depends on theyre taste maybe??,.but yeah Kuya J 😊
Yeahp absolutely Razon’s Halo- Halo for the win 🏅 far behind for the 2nd placer it’s ICED 🧊 crush oh my? Looks like import from Rosa Khutor hehehe 🤭 the creaminess wooohhh satisfaction .
What you mistake for potato is called ubod which is the heart or the pith of a coconut palm located at its topmost part where young palm leaves shoot or sprout. It's naturally sweet. Unfortunately,a coconut tree has to be felled to harvest the pith so that's a precious coconut pith spring roll you are having.🙂
Max's Restaurant closed down in Toronto. I was sad. That's a plate of vegetable spring roll with peanut sauce. Max's restaurant food does taste a bit better in the Philippines than in North America. I like the mango juice in the Philippines
Leche flan is one of the ingedients in the mix mix hahaha halo halo on top aside from ube ice cream. Leche flan is made of condensed milk. Brown sugar. Its like a custard.
What you've tasted in leche flan was really from lemon flavor. That's one of the leche flan's ingridient- evaporated milk, egg yolks, condensed milk, lemon and vanilla.
Are you guys OK? Both of you, sound like you have cold and drowsy, take care of yourself po always,. rain or shine don't forget po your umbrellarr! ☔👬⛅🌴🌳🌁☁☀
OMG 🐓Max's chicken is best eaten with a dipping sauce made of the condiments on the table - banana catsup, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce!!!! OMG You guys missed out SOOOO MUCH!! Stay healthy. Saw your vlog roaming around fort santiago in the rain. Whoa. Make sure you take vit c, tylenol and drink lots of water.
Dayap ( key lime, as in key lime pie) rind is traditionally used in making leche flan for that citrus taste. You cannot add the juice because it will ruin the texture of the flan (curdle).
Is leche flan Mexican or Filipino? Ultra rich and creamy custard baked in a steamy bath topped with a sweet caramel sauce-leche flan is a Filipino party favorite. This is a Filipino version of flan that is popular to serve during parties. Growing up, one of my favorite aunts was known for her homemade leche flan. Leche is Spanishword for Milk (gatas) with caramelized burnt white sugar blended by yolk
Max is really nice practical Family dine it!!! Your correct their Lumpiang Sariwa is very Good or called “Ubod” a baby bamboo stem being cut for this meal… ❤😂 thanks for an entertainment to watch!!! The sauce by the way is caramel with added spices , peanuts garlic etc… and the soft desert is LecheFlan …🎉❤😢

That fresh lumpia is made of Ubod, which is the heart of the coconut tree - that’s where the leaves and fruits of the tree emerge from.
For a record, this satisfied me over watching a blogger mixed pretty well a halo-halo which is the right way of eating to enjoy the real taste of it👌👌👌

it's not bamboo shoots but rather heart of palm or the edible pith of a coconut tree.
Yaay , new vlog 😊, I'm always checking my notifs to check if you have new upload haha. This completes my weekend. Salamat Tyler and Isaac
Fresh lumpia,is made of vegetable, inside the fresh lumpia are, turnips, carrot, orbthe young bamboo ,we make frsh lumpia ,the sauce is made of cornstarch, red sugar and nuts, with garlic very deluciuos, thats my favorite.
Lumpiang ubod, that's sauteed heart of palm wrapped in egg crepe with peanut garlic sauce, a very popular Filipino dish
the food wrap with a peanut sauce is fresh lumpia (lum-pi-ya) or lumpiang (lum-pi-yang) ubod. Ubod is a bamboo shoot or some would use heart of palm and other fresh vegetables.

It is fresh lumpia, the one with grounded peanuts on top and with brown sauce serve in a white small plate.
ubod=heart of palm. the tender part of the palm (or palm shoots). the leche flan is mildly flavored with local lime called dayap.
Fresh ubod is the palm heart , which is used as a filling for fresh lumpia. That’s not a potato but ubod. There’s a Max’s restaurant in Glendale, Calif., Milpitas, Calif. and in South San Francisco.
Inside part of fresh lumpia is turnip or jicama and also vegetables. Yes the sauce has a ground peanut.

I don't know if I'm using the proper term in English. The "ubod" is the coconut kernel. It's the "baby coconut tree". It's still quite soft.
You two, Biscuit Boys, are so hilarious! Keep up the good work!

I'm planning to go to the Philippines in the future. Is the tap water safe to drink? I thought it was advised to use bottled water only.
Use bottled water or go to the refilling station to get filtered water. Tap water is clean but for precautionary measure, we boil it first.
