While I do love this new Shang Tsung, I am a little bit sad that he doesn’t have his soul stealing ability anymore, but at least he can still morph into other Kombatants.

I think because they are rewriting the characters which sucks because Shang Tsungs ability to steal souls is what made him scary in the first place, I only seen him do it in the story mode.
I was bummed that he doesn't have a soul steal brutality. But them I remembered that in cannon, he can't wield true magic at least not effectively without mixing it with science. So it makes sense
Theoretically, they could replace the animation of injection with soul steal, because the moves are very similar, especially the ex version where you then transform into the opponent. I just hope for it because soul steal is Shang's signature
Looking forward to what will be written next after the island discovery. Hopefully a soul stealing brutality will come out of that. The skulls remind me of the Lost Souls from the Doom series so he’s putting those extra souls from the soul stealers to fine use
