that's not how it works. in a coup, only when the lower links are empowered then only the topmost general becomes the strongest. All these soldiers have got more authority in their country than you might think.
This is just like the coup they do in 1990 when, again, the democratic elected Aung San Suu Kyi and her party were won on that election but the result was rejected by the military then they staged an emergency government just like now The history just repeated
They do this to make the people protest just like in 1988. And then they will add fake protestors (soldiers in disguise) to riot and cause violence. Democracy isn't just fragile. it's being rejected.

映月Ying Yue unrelated to what you’re saying, but related for context as to why exactly the military is able to do what they did there in myanmar,
“some people say ‘Aung San Suu Kyi has proven to be just as willing to turn a blind eye to genocide as her military predecessors.’
To give her the benefit of the doubt, it isn't like she or the civilian government could do or say much. The military junta didn't give the reins of power to a democratically-elected government, they agreed to share a certain amount of power with said elected politicians. The military had a guaranteed 25% of all seats in the national legislature, which means Constitutional amendments are impossible unless the military agrees.
In other words, Myanmar has only been a "democracy" for the last decade because the military said it could be one.
Sure, Aung San Suu Kyi or her party could have taken a more forceful line against what the military is doing to the Rohingya - in which case what happened yesterday would have happened some time ago, and as of today Aung San Suu Kyi would be marking the Xth anniversary of her latest house arrest.”
@映月Ying Yue I'm not an expert on this subject. I live in a country where it's the beacon for democracy but yet me and other minorities are treated like second class citizens or less. Democracy hasn't always worked for us, so my trust in it is shaky, but it's all I know. Even when it kicks me in the teeth, I'm still hoping it will one day work for me and people who look like me. It's a beautiful thing when it's working for you. Freedom to be you!
