    I bought the Kamiq 2 weeks ago👍 1.0 115bhp dsg Style. Perfect for us living in the city and with a baby on the way. Not an exciting car but it does everything good enough. Also like the styling and you get a lot of equipment as standard in Sweden!👍

    Very nice review as always by Marek. Didn't know that even with dsg the Kamiq is without hill assist. Here in Greece the 1.5 150 hp dsg version with plenty of equipment costs 22 thousand euros, seems a bargain!

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 4 года назад +1

      Hill start assist is not the same as auto hold. Auto hold feature is like an automatic handbrake in traffic for cars with automatic gearboxes. When activated, the car applies electronic parking brake as soon as you stop, so you keep the car in D, but let go of the brake pedal.

    • @pkaps5799
      @pkaps5799 4 года назад

      @@MarekDrives Thanks Marek, apparently this is what I actually wanted to say and hill start assist came to my mind, so which one is not offered with the Kamiq and what is the difference with the hill start assist?

    • @MarekDrives

      @@pkaps5799 HSA prevents the car from rolling backwards, and works only for a couple of seconds. It is especially useful in cars with manual transmission, where you would normally have to start letting go off the clutch to stop the car from rolling back, then release the brake, and then press the accelerator. HSA works (I think) based on ABS.
      AH is part of the electronic parking brake system, and it stops the car from moving forward in traffic, as you leave the car in D (in case of automatic) or neutral (in case of manual).

      @@MarekDrives thank you Marek, in my new Polo (1.0 tsi 115 hp dsg) when letting off the brake pedal, either uphill or downhill or in the slightest incline , it holds the car still for a couple of seconds, although it is called Hill Hold Assist on the specs and it is referred only as uphill assistance. Fortunately it works both ways and I guess VW should have called it Auto Hold to be more precise since it works in any incline. Mind you that my Polo is dsg equipped so dont know the deal in manual boxes.

    I've seen in the Lyon streets, in white colour, and it looks perfect. Perfectly proportionate, of perfect size for urban family life, and the white colour fits it perfectly. It looks far better than the fatish Karoq and the short-faced Kodiaq.

Also, you probably don't want the 1.5 because on forums you can read about the kangarooing effect on those engines. The only other thing I can get here for that amount is a used Qashqai, a new one in the N-connecta trim is closer to 25k and that's with the discount offer. The 1.0 sounds better than the 1.5 four cylinder engine, which is uneconomical and droning at speed. A workmate had the 1.5, got rid for a new hybrid Honda Jazz as the Kamiq was too thirsty. Big is not always better. Four cylinder engines are on the way out, most are bland sounding with no character.

To say the truth..i saved money for GPS from Skoda,cuz if u connect your smartphone to a car,then you can just use your Waze or GOOGmaps and also play RUclips playlist or music saved in your phone and its charging your phone and gives you contat list for calls.. :) big save on it..You would have some buttons beside your handbreak..IF you dont pick a base car like this Marek :) ALSO you can pick to heat your stearingwheel together with your seats...so you have a button for it..but you have to add your stearingwheel heat into it..then it turns on both by 1click (also you can add front heating glass into this 1button) :) I guess Marek cant know everythin by reading it and drivin it in few days but..ummm you are pointing out stuff that can be done but you cant do buddy..dont get me wrong but if you do this for living ...do it right.

      Some of them have (or will soon get) mild hybrid systems, mainly to lower the emissions. It's actually a problem under the new EU emissions targets, which force carmakers to pay hefty fines for every gram of CO2 above the 95 g/km limit. Some pundits forecast the demise of small city car, as it will be too expensive to buy, because of the tech necessary to make it emit less. And making a small EV is still too expensive.

    • @kevinn1158
      @kevinn1158 4 года назад

      @@MarekDrives I guess the question is, what is the tipping point where it's reasonable to buy an EV due to the savings on petrol in the EU. Here in Canada, petrol today is 1.10/litre. i.e. 0.74 euro. Here it really is a stretch to buy an EV and say it's worth it. We don't have 3 cylinder cars. In fact, many people still buy 6 cylinder cars as they don't burn much more than turbo 4 cylinders and they don't require premium fuel.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 4 года назад

      That depends on the country/region. In Poland buying an electric car means you're burning money :) I'm saying this as a fan of EVs. I know if I get one, it's going to be just for show.
      In Scandinavia on the other hand an EV is the cheaper option vs. an ICE car. Albeit ICE cars in Scandinavia can cost twice as much, as they would say in Poland or Germany.
      3-cylinder engines can be quite alright. And you do have them in Canada, but they are not... shall we say... advertised :) For example the base engine in MINI is a 136 hp 1.5 inline 3, but good luck finding information about the number of cylinders on mini.ca.
      The problem with these smaller engines is that they were developed to meet the old NEDC fuel economy test (the one VW had built-in software to cheat). It favored small displacement engines at relatively low load. But give a small engine more work to do, and it will use as much fuel (or more), than a larger displacement engine under similar conditions.
      BTW, your regular vs. premium fuel situation never ceases to amaze me. In Europe we have 95 or higher octane fuel, and that's it. Most of the stuff you guys use is like water :)

    • @kevinn1158
      @kevinn1158 4 года назад

      @@MarekDrives I never noticed that about the 3 cylinder engines in Canada and your petrol. We have 87, 89, 91, 93 & some stations 94/5. When the price between each level is 11/12c it ends up 23% more to buy premium which makes the 4 cylinder turbo not much of a deal. Last time I was in Switzerland I drove a BMW 3 series 2L diesel so I never looked at the petrol prices.
