    I’ve been practicing, jamming, and performing daily on the same Alta Jazz 2 alto for FOURTEEN months with no detectable degradation. Incredibly beautiful reed! I’ve never found ‘the’ Legere, and I’ve tried them all, including the American Cut. I played Fibracell for years but the Silverstein has replaced everything, including cane. Also having good success with the 2 tenor. We’re all different, I am not dark on my setups.

      I'm about to order an Alta Jazz 2 for my tenor. I mostly play pop rock. Is it bright enough? I'm currently using Fibercell 3.5 with my set up.

      @@Joel-ud3yj sorry- just saw this. I like Fibracells a lot, though I've found them inconsistent. Several have been a might too bright for me. I think you'll like the Altas. They hit a sweet spot.

    I think you sounded better with the Silverstein than with the Legere Signature. I used to use Signatures for years, and agree they were the best thing around, but have switched the Silverstein on all my horns. Your upper register with the signature just sounds a bit harsher and more, well, synthetic. I also like that the Silverstein's buzz on your lip in a way that is close to cane. Makes them feel more alive :) Thanks for sharing the video.

    The Silverstein reeds are about $10 more than the Legere Signatures. Very excited to try their American Cut.

    It´s killing the Legere in my humble opinion. But how it is for you is what´s important. It is completely subjective. Thank you
    for putting this up.

      At the very least, it's a quality reed and it sounds good! It will be useful for a lot of players.

    The legere sounds a lot darker than the Alta to us on our side

    I think I'll give one a try. I also want to try one of the Venn reeds.

      Us too. We're hoping to get our hands on a few of those reeds as soon as we can.

      @@SaxophoneCentral I see the Alta comes in Classic and Jazz. Have you tried both?

    The heart or spine on the Legere is not wide enough to produce a definitive core sound. The soprano and alto reeds are amazing in the Legere line, but the tenor is a little bit weak. To me it has too much flex-These Altas are great and I have switched from the Legere

    It would have been informative, had you played both the Classic & the Jazz versions of the reeds. Also, that background music was up a bit much, making it difficult to clearly hear what you were saying.

    Your sound was better on the Alta in my opinion.

    I play a 2+ ,/ 2.5 Legere and are these Alta reeds stiffer than the Legere and possibly other synthetic reeds?

    • @SaxophoneCentral
      @SaxophoneCentral  4 года назад +1

      I remember these being marginally more stiff than the Legeres I play on, but have not done tests against other synthetics.
