  • Wanted to build something like this for a while now. Always had issues like "where to de-grease or de-oil stuff" and i always made a mess when doing it on the workshop/welding table. This ended up being quite the cool project and i have enjoyed using it so far. Hope you enjoy the video
    Also Vevor sent me this cool ultrasonic cleaner bath thing, works great (with proper solutions), enjoyed testing that thing out as well. if your interested in such products then please feel free to use the discount code and link below

    Run the used ultra sonic cleaner thru a fine mesh strainer or paper filter to remove any metal and gunk and use it again.

  • @melintafro7363

    So here's my costsaving tip for the ultra sonic cleaner: Fill the tub with clean water. Use a plastic jar with lid for small parts and put the cleaning solution, gasoline or diesel in the jar. Put the filled jar in the tub and give the parts at least 10 minutes of cleaning time........i mostly come allong with 50°C of temp.........but i do clean the parts of crude dirt and oil before i put them in the solution. And yes, you can filter the used liquid and reuse it again ;-) Thumbs up for your work 👍

    *Conventional* ATF is about the most effective "degreaser" you can use in an ultrasonic cleaner.
    Safe for most metals, plastics, nonexplosive, non flammable. Rinses easily with alcohol or brake cleaner- or leave residue on for corrosion protection.
    DOT3 brake fluid removes just about all paints.

    I have 3 ultrasonic cleaners in different sizes, including the same one you have. They will save you hours of cleaning time if you use the right solution. Gasoline {not recommended}, diesel, kerosene, white vinegar, regular carb cleaner, and concentrated degreaser. Just make sure whatever you use is friendly with aluminum because some solutions will literally eat aluminum in this machine. You can use smaller containers for small parts and just fill the container with the desired cleaner and then set it in the ultrasonic filled with water. Glass containers are best but plastic works also. I have cleaned many items in these machines including my eye glasses with no problems and they do an excellent job. Keep up with the great videos. There are also hundreds of RUclips videos on how to use an ultrasonic cleaner. Good luck,

    If you keep the water in the tank, the oils will float and small particles will sink to the bottom, making a mudcake. I would empty it every time and filter the water through some fine metal mesh or something and put it in a bottle/container for later use. I just got a tiny ultrasonic cleaner from Lidl that I bought like 10 years ago. As you see in the video, thick layers of grease are more stubborn as they dampen the waves of the water. It acts a little bit similar like soft undercoating does when trying to sandblast it with not enough pressure...

    People still need the analog multimeters. They are able to show higher and lower frequency changes that electronic multimeter are not able to show. Because the electronic multimeter sampling frequency / rate gives false or even no reading.

    I sometimes use mineral spirits in mine and it cleans amazingly. Sometimes I use a product called "Berrymans Chem Dip" carb cleaner mixed with water and that works even better. As for the large cleaning scrub tub, I only use mineral spirits. The blue flames is from the galvanize coating burning off the part, it's very bad to breathe. This project looks awesome.

I use mine to remove cosmoline, grease, grime, old crap from WWI, WWII, and Vietnam Eres. I use Dawn Platinum dish soap and Distilled water, set the heater on wait till it get to your desired temperature and put your parts in , set the time and walk away. Dont think about it, and carry on doung other things, and when you go back. It is cleaner than before. And if the parts dont come out clean. I use plastic zipplock bags with degreaser and put the parts in the bag and drop them into the Ultrasonic cleaner with the hot water & dish soap, works very well. Hope this will help you as it did for me. Good luck my friend

    Hey Andris, I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner myself, but I do follow quite a few channels where they guys do use these things. One of the best tips I've seen: If you're gonna use some kind of special cleaning solution (that's probably expensive) (which you did, I can say after watching the entire video), try to find a container that fits the part closely. Something like a glass mason jar usually works well. That way you can fill that up with the cleaning solution, and just use water in the machine. The water and most containers will transmit the ultrasonic waves perfectly, so you'll be able to use the large machine without using a lot of cleaning solution every time.
    Also, if you have something wearable, like glasses, a ring, or a bracelet, try that in the cleaner. It's probably gonna look amazing seeing how much dirt is gonna come off. Also, keep in mind that that's mainly what ultrasonic cleaners are good at: removing a little bit of dirt in very hard to reach places, like carburetors.

    Nice, you got and adapted a new powerup.. =) Well done! As far as I know, there are specific degreasing solutions and agents for ultrasonic cleaning, you can also reuse those several times, depending on how dirty stuff are you washing... Hehe, da, true, washing in style, just remember to keep the "extra special solution" on the full end of the scale, so you'll have pleasure instead of "cussin". Cheers! 😉

  • @user-ue3kx2tl9h
    @user-ue3kx2tl9h Месяц назад +1

    Yes, that thick line an inch or so from the top is the max fill line, having it near/at full is better. Stuff like the lock needed cleaned in the sink with soupy water and scrub brush to remove bulk dirt beforehand. You don't want stuff up against the bottom/sides, so use baskets. Adding hot water will be gentler on the machine: better to maintain temp then warming up cold water.

  • @stevewoodw
    @stevewoodw Месяц назад +2

    Good project. I would have tried to make it more like a parts washer - let the bottom compartment fill with water, not oil and drain into a container. I was thinking that you could have a mix of degreaser and water in one container on the top and a hose coming down from it to a tap to use when cleaning and also one container with water in and another with the used solution that's been caught draining out of the bottom. Then you could use all three types of fluid to clean with. You'd have three pipes coming down from the top and be able to keep cleaning and re-using solutions. That would make the whole thing rather top heavy which could be a disadvantage if you're moving it around or knock it with heavy parts but could work ok. If you have power going to it, you could plug the drain hole and have a water pump helping you reuse any liquid you've been cleaning with, like a parts washer. Taking the fluid out of the ultrasonic cleaner makes sense. I've only seen a few youtubers use them and use one once myself. Leaving the liquid in is ok but you could microwave a large container full of fluid you're going to reuse (having an old microwave to use in the workshop could be an advantage) so you can get it hot easily - or you could chuck in a kettle full of water and dilute the solution a little. I wouldn't use it on the washer unit, I'd probably try to keep it on the back of a workbench (or if it's empty, it could be stored up on a shelf). Good ideas to see you using though - good stuff!

    you could probably put down a transparent rubber sheet on the epoxy table to protect it and avoid scrapes

    Yes reuse until it stops cleaning. Best possible outcome for cleaning smaller parts that you can put inside a plastic container is to fill the ultrasonic cleaner with water then take your sealable parts container and put your parts in it then fill the parts container with gasoline. Seal the parts container and place it into the ultrasonic cleaner and run it as usual. The gasoline cleans better than anything else I have tried. For bad rust issue use a CLR - calcium, lime and rust remover. CONCENTRATED. ZEP makes a very good product.
    And cut your top grate and put hinges on it so you can access inside the parts tub without having to move your Vevor ultrasonic cleaner.
    Love your channel bro. Talented dude. Maybe one day you’ll be as good as ANDREW!!! lol

    I haven't done it yet, but I have a friend who has, he made a box that he lined with foam as sound deadening and put his cleaner in that, it doesn't get rid of all the house but it cut alot out, especially when he put the sound proffed lid on the box when it was running.

    great video... but it will be interesting to see how long that ultrasonic cleaner will last there. If you are working there, cleaning parts, you will not be able to stand that noise. Most items needing the ultrasonic cleaner will be in the solution around 20 minutes, so may as well have it in another room :) Thx for the video, it is appreciated.

    By the way, try putting the ultrasonic cleaner on some rubber pads, that should help make it a bit quieter.

    Still don't know how you only have 52+k subscribers! You have some great content Andris.
    You can defintiely re-use the solution in the ultrasonic multiple times, filter it if necessary between uses.
    There are some very good citrus based degreasers available, I use them all the time.
    80 degrees is probably too high, I don't go any higher than 60, saves electricity too.
    And finally... always put the items being cleaned in the basket or inside another container with liquid in, in the basket, you should not put anything directly on the bottom of the cleaner. You will either damage the item, the ultrasonics, or both!

    Since my really good prediction skills on your videos was spoiled over at Patreon on this video, I will just write something to help with the RUclips algorithm😊 As always a perfect Friday when a new video from my favourite RUclips creator and a beer in my hand. I am now at the 21 minute mark, and I am still waiting for something no one in history has thought of. Probably a water assisted crane with turbo power from the ultra sonic cleaner…..

    My dad did the concrete everwhere thing. we lived across the street from a middle school and the kids would come in large groups and damage the landscaping. So my dad not only covered a very large area with concrete, but he had it colored red. I dont know why he chose red. Since you dont want your neighbor to force you to learn a new language, you might choose a color different than red.

    You should add a pump and hoses between the containers. The pump should draw off the bucket furthest from the drain. That way all the solids will settle out in the first few containers. Then you could reuse the solvent you are using.
    Then again, it looks like you have a different idea. I was sort of thinking diy parts washer. Still though, great video and I like the build. I was yelling at you to not paint by that Porsche but you didn’t spray until the very end haha.

    Ii only clean small parts like spark plugs and other stuff, but I use white vinegar. It work really well on most kinds of dirt or corrosion. also put the item in a small container with the cleaning fluid. Then pour water into the rest of the ultrasonic cleaner. It works just as well.
