Another wonderful video, Dave! You've chosen some of my favorite inks. Anybody who knows me is sick of me gushing about Skull & Roses! I waffle between grabbing Purple Rain and Scribble Purple. They're both great! Maureen is still relatively new to me but I am liking it the more I use it. I'm incredibly envious that you own Blackstone Barrier Reef. It is my understanding that they're out of business so I missed my chance to nab a bottle! I wanted to expand on some things that were said in the video: - Purple Rain is stunning on Tomoe River paper! On most papers the purple is so dark (especially when it has a layer of sheen on top) that writing appears black to my eye. IMHO it is a work-friendly purple. - Sheen is ink that has pooled up and dried in a crystalized form on the surface of paper. These crystals are very fine and fragile (like graphite; they can break off, creating sheen dust) and are easily reactivated by any moisture, including finger oil. The ease by which they reactivate is what gives them the "never dries" effect. - But it does dry! at least with my pens on my papers (I adore but rarely use Tomoe River). I'm a lefty and none of the Diamines in this video have caused me to smear in everyday writing. - IMO Maureen isn't a blurple at its base. Both Maureen and S&R will sometimes produce a hazy, semi-transparent (rather than opaque metallic) sheen. A blue base + semi-transparent pink/red sheen = purple appearance. For anybody looking to try these inks: - Blackstone is no longer available except in used markets. - Purple Rain, Skull & Roses, and Smoke on the Water are exclusive to German markets. I have had nothing but good experience with Fountain Feder, whose international shipping costs are _very_ reasonable. Don't forget to try out Communication Breakdown (possibly my favorite red) and Calligraphy Passion (not a sheener; probably too light for pages of text but has amazing depth and shading). - Maureen is exclusive to Cult Pens. I've had Cult Pens ship to the midwest US in just 3 days!
I have Diamine Skull & Roses (yes, you can order it from Germany!) and I must say that it sheens much more than what we see in this video, thought not as much as Nitrogen. If I may suggest, as it goes against the format used for the videos, for this kind of inks, while still highly informative, the swatches are not providing all about the inks, some hand writing is here needed, like 4 lines would do a great job.

I love your ink videos! 🎉

Can you do one on favorite saturated inks that don’t sheen or shade. Some of us prefer these.
I can certainly have a think about it, so by saturated but not sheening you mean more darker colours?
Barrier Reef Blue is my favorite Blackstone ink,. :)
It's my favourite too from Blackstone.
Anyone has Leonardo Pens contact number? They are not responding to emails and I don’t know what’s happening with my order placed on their website 😬
Unfortunately they only list their address and not a phone number on their website.
@@PenultimateDave Yeah, I had to chase them on RUclips to get a reply finally. Not a good sign. Hope pen arrives 😬
@@PenultimateDave Received the pen yesterday !
