    GREAT explanation & graphics.
    Do you plan to make additional videos regarding a kind of a training plan ... on a whatever time basis?
    Bought that machine in 1996 before lightweight became olympic to train and reduce weight but used it later rarely or reluctantly while having no really goals and training plans.
    thanks

    Hello I just started to row....
    My time is 07min50sec for the 2000m... 45years. I took the test on level 8. What can be my max progression.... Would I be able with training to get under 07min.
    sincerely yours

      Ekrem Gokhan yes most likely, make sure to learn what 'drag factor' is and set the erg for between 110 and 130: whichever is comfortable. Lots of mileage will get you there mate.

      Shite Weight thx So i presume that when i start at lev 9 and my dragfactor isn't between these numbers i lower my level and so on until i get between these numbers... is that correct?

    • @mportugais
      @mportugais 6 лет назад

      yes that is correct. you are probably much higher than that at 9. go in the menu, select more options and then select display drag factor. start rowing and it will display the drag factor. move the damper setting slowly and continue rowing until you reach the drag factor you want.

      @@mportugais Link your phone to the PM5 (Iphone links without a adaptor) you will then get a instant readout of drag factor and be able to upload your results

    From 2:59 to 3:11 notice the wrist angulation at the end of the stroke. Throughout the stroke, the hands, wrists, and forearms should remain aligned with the direction of applied force. The shown wrist angulation is the cause of chronic wrist pain among many indoor rower users. It is not, however, the result of poor technique. It is directly caused by the rigid, single-piece handle. The handle is the user/machine interface, and at that interface, the machine should adapt to the user, not the other way around. The rigid, single-piece handle is a bio-mechanical abomination, a stone-age implement. It is beyond belief that users have tolerated it for the past 35 years.

    Credit where credit is due 1) at least Alex instructed the correct finish LOCATION (unlike most top rowers I see on the internet or in gyms whose main objective seems to be their adams apple in an attempt to get length and a better score) BUT, would it not be nice for a double Olympic GM man to actually show rowing technique? (In his defence he did not mention rowing once in the video - only fitness and of course what he was doing would make you very fit!). It would have been nice to see 2) hands down and round the turn (diameter one small orange or mandarin orange) 3) no touching of the chest (look at how FAR from the stomach Mr Bond finishes in the NZ 2-) banging in and out off the chest 4) only drop the hands sufficiently to clear the water with a squared blade and keep the hand height the same throughout the recovery (At this point Chapeux off to Alex for raising he hands at the catch before driving AND for the loose finger grip). I would also emphasise the need to use the momentum of the hands down and away to lead the body over and then use that to initiate the slide action. Of course if this were a loose head rowing simulator there would be less need to impose YOUR rhythm on the machine as it would naturally flow of its own accord as the bogey comes toward you!
