Everyone shitting on the Optimus has never heard of improvements over time. Sure it sucks right now, cus it still at the development stage. Why do people criticise things that have yet to be a full fledged product. It is not even being sold right now. They will improve it and it will be as capable as most humans within 5 - 15 yrs. After that it will surpass humans. You all think making this stuff is simple, it requires billions of dollars and new engineering techniques that havent been invented yet.
In 1994 I watched Jurassic Park and was blown away by the CGI and dreamed about how good it will get in the near future... 30 years later, despite massive amounts of investment it has only got marginally better, in fact its quite underwhelming. Truly useful bots are not in the near future that's for sure.
@@yingle6027 That isnt a fair one to one comparison. Jurassic Park, although containing CGI, relied more on animatronics, which is why it looks so good for the time. Animatronics are not as heavily used anymore due to the immense costs, when CGI can do the same thing faster, cheaper and for the most part better. CGI has improved heaps but it has plateaued. There isnt an incentive to make CGI even more realistic when audiences mostly think CGI is pretty good. Any more improvements requires alot of effort yet does not give the same monetary benefit. Unless certain companies/people try to push the envelope further, like James Cameron's Avatar, then it wont improve. Bots are closer than you think, once they have figured out the hands and how to learn how to do human activies quickly, then its gonna be pretty big, very fast.
@@athulgeorge6744 Haha not a chance mate. Truly useful consumer level bots will not be around for a long, long, time. I used to be a believer too, but reality tells me that these things are just too complex. The Human brain is also incredibly energy efficient, very hard to replicate artificially.
Robots won't be able to come to your house by themselves when your basement toilet is broken , diagnose the problem, and fix it onsite for a very, very long time
ENGINEERING THE HANDS TO REPLICATE WHAT HUMANS DO , make me appreciate the original engineer even more … let alone ALL THE AMAZING THINGS that our bodies do … a biological machine that can repair itself ? WOW !
@@StrongerThanBigfoot Bad idea. Humans don't change their mind the older they get, they solidify it. Therefore they won't be able to learn as many new things in order to solve new problems. They'll be based in out of date realities, as we already see today. Do you really want super rich people hanging around for any longer? There needs to be a cleansing function for humanity.
The issue with everyone stopping death from aging is that if you do that too early it actually slows human progress. The longer people live the less we reproduce. Jus because you live longer does not mean you become a better person or magically retain all of your 12 phds worth in knowledge on your 200th birthday. There would be less humans, no one would retain a significant amount more knowledge. Thus our technological progress drastically slows down. Our economies are not set up to have people that live forever, the resources it would take to de-age yourself are impossible to cheaply make because it includes an expensive array of treatments that currently only multi millionaires can afford. This will make income inequality equal too age inequality. (yeah humanoid robots making everything dirt cheap actually fixes this issue so again its more important.) In a market where we still rely on human labor how will you compete with someone that has 200 years experience on you.... think about that for a minute xD All these problems can be dodged if we get humanoid robots helping every human individual enhance their workflow, productivity, general life assistance, fill out labor market permanently and allow mankind to collect data faster and produce everything else humans would typically be making (technology, production and research). Not to mention they will also give us more ability to overcome biological immortality on top of that. Altogether armies of humanoid robots fully augmenting humanities' ability to make and research literally everything and anything is magnitudes more productive than figuring out how to live longer.
So the people in power never leave and people with new ideas can never enter. Sounds like a good way to haul progress. “Science progresses one funeral at a time” -Max Plank

Blue Origin, which started before SpaceX, still can't even get a reusable rocket to orbit. SpaceX are on their second reusable orbital rocket. They can take an extra 10 years and their competition will still be 10 years behind like they are now.

Because the car is already a robot - on wheels - and can drive itself. Having said that, the robot will be able to drive... Things take time. Optimus has been already for how long... 2 years?
Just another point of failure . They can’t even get the cars to drive them self let alone another robot. The only advantage would be cars that are not built to be self driving you could put a robot in there and away you go . Issue being is so many different cars it just couldn’t be trusted to deal with it. ( with current technology)
@@unnamedchannel1237 Tesla's can already drive themselves better than a human. Put that brain in a humanoid robot which didn't control output and there you go. You can teach a humanoid robot to drive without teaching the car to drive also.
Exactly. There's a sinister agenda here. Elon is appearing on all the 'alternative' podcasts, trying to win over support from those that see through the circus. Not buying it from this cyborg freak.
Why do you think he wants to replace humanity? He's actually telling people to have more kids. Just because there will be robots around doesn't necessarily mean he wants to eradicate humanity.
The technology is inevitable. You can't stop the inevitable, you can only influence how it develops. He knows these millions of AI robots WILL happen one way or another but he is trying to place limits on their strength and capability, as well as safeguards and rules in place to prevent rogue AI. I do honestly believe he wants to help humanity and I support his efforts, but it would be naive to rule out the possibility of him being very clever about pursuing and masking ulterior motives. Nothing is impossible in this day, but I personally believe he is being genuine.
The tertiary muscles that control the hand are in the forearm. The hands are an outcome of the NECK AND HEAD. Firstly, the muscles that control the hand come from the neck. It's a big deal.
Elon often talks about population collapse, but this thinking particularly applies to some countries like Italy. The global population is still growing in regions like Africa and India, and the world's resources are being depleted at an astonishing rate. And now, here comes Elon to add millions of robots to the mix, and pretty soon we'll be fighting for jobs.

why try to make robots that can mimic humans when we could invest all of this energy into ascending ourselves and seeing what we are capable of as people with what we already have and optimize the overall quality of living in whole. Well, it's not technically a "human" hand, sice the design of hand, with the same bones, layout and functionality existed already in monkeys millions of years before humans existed. Sure he will. Remember when he said he would have full self driving cars like 5 years ago? Or that we would have a Mars colony by 2030? I mean...seriously people
Everyone shitting on the Optimus has never heard of improvements over time.

Tony said it best when he stated, "I see a suit of armor around the world," to Bruce Banner in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The heck with the robots. Let’s solve aging so we can live forever then we have all the time in the world to solve everything else
(yeah humanoid robots making everything dirt cheap actually fixes this issue so again its more important.)
In a market where we still rely on human labor how will you compete with someone that has 200 years experience on you.... think about that for a minute xD
All these problems can be dodged if we get humanoid robots helping every human individual enhance their workflow, productivity, general life assistance, fill out labor market permanently and allow mankind to collect data faster and produce everything else humans would typically be making (technology, production and research).

It scares me Lex how often you say you love humanity, yet you pander to a man that want's more than anything, to replace it.
Elon is not the one who wants to replace humanity. He just wants us to have our own robot slaves.
