  • I've always wondered what my Porsche Boxster S would sound like if it was less muffled, and today the guys at Larose Porsche in Kent are showing me the answer to just that. Today we're fitting the new Spyder performance bypass valves system.

I did a similar mod to my 2004 Z4 3.0...less than $300US including labor. The remote control allows for 4 different levels of noise (from near-silent to a monster). Going under overpasses or driving thru a parking garage, it's glorious. Juvenile? Unquestionably. But like you Joel, puts a huge smile on my face everytime...a 2nd mod I did...adding a bass shaker (particularly if you've got a convertible)...makes the stock BMW stereo sound incredible! Thanks for the vid...I really doubt that I will ever part with my manual Z4...I never tire of its performance, comfort, and sounds (stereo and exhaust). Be well Joel!!

Nice mod, good to have the option of loud & quiet all built into the one system.

Apologies if you're already aware: to minimise the risk of brake disc warp on track days, stick to 5 laps max, one warm up, three hot, one cool down with only light use of the brakes. Also, don't apply the handbrake in the pits, leave it in gear.

I love everything done in this video, amazing but stealthy exhaust (I love discreet cars), fixing warped brake discs though I hope those Brembos are good (something I currently have, 9 months after installing new Brembos, apparently I ran through water?! Warping seems a common issue with Brembos) and fixing wheels, which causes steering wheel judder at high speeds, which is something my mother's car has because she hit quite a lot of curbs. So a lot of satisfying stuff I would have wanted to get done myself 😄

Just a couple of questions regarding your experience . As i've now fitted the system but I do have some questions:
    1) there does appear to be a small amount of exhaust coming out of the valve output when the valves are closed - is this normal?
    2) the sound when the valves are closed is louder and bit more throater than stock (not a bad thing at all!) But wanted to check this is normal too?
And finally, if this is normal (3) I assume the car will still pass its MOT emissions test when the valves are closed?

Would be nice if he bothered to reply eh?

    • @bhavmak6897
      @bhavmak6897 6 месяцев назад +1

So here's the answer having now gone through an MOT
The valves make it harder for them to test the exhaust emissions, something to do with extra air (?) and 4 "exits" instead of two (even if the valves are closed). This technically means it should fail an MOT.. a good garage will however be able to deal with it.
That being said, I love the modification and installed it myself. Valves off the car sounds better and with them open it sounds like a monster.

It did sound really nice but was way to loud and i ended up hating it as it sounded really antisocial. I ended up swapping it out for an original spec. I expect yours is really really loud looking at the size of the valved openings... but as long as you enjoy it👍
One question though...why does it not effect the fuel/air mix, as surely opening up big holes close to the o2 sensors in gonna play havoc with them even though its down stream?

However they all want to have a go driving it, not that I let any of them and when I take them out in it they can't believe how quick it is. Just don't expect the world in straight line performance but show it some corners with a good chassis setup by someone in the know and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face, it always does for me. If you want to truly use the full potential of the car you will have to put it on a track, I said when I bought mine 5 years ago I wouldn't track it but after 3 years I found I wasn't using anywhere near its potential on the public roads.

Hi, I love your videos but I think you are misleading your followers with "under £500" information. I went on the garage's website then spoke to the owner in the phone. The price for the system is
    £355+VAT (£72.50)
The owner said it takes about 2.5 hours to fit it and it is £100 per hour + VAT which is another
    £250 + VAT (£50).
    The total is
    £605 + VAT (£122.50)=£722.50.
I have been watching your videos for over a year and hoping you edit your post and update it as soon as you can. Your video is only 9 months old and there are similar bypass systems sold on alibaba for about £150+ £100 P&P plus customs excluding labour obviously. I think the total is still under £300 and it is not a rocket since to remove the "U" joints and do the job yourself. Many thanks
