NBC should have ended the "Tonight Show" and moved on. Create another late night show, but call it something else. The "Tonight Shows" post Carson have been a disaster because Carson and that crew WERE the "Tonight Show" and all that followed and continues to follow is saddled with the image of the entertainment giant that was Johnny, and Ed, and Doc and Tommy Newsom

    • @MrGoogster
      @MrGoogster 5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely! Actually, Rickles was an excellent impersonator all-around. He was always doing “act-outs” of famous people he refers to and many (Ed Sullivan, Sinatra, etc) are spot-on. If they’re not straight-up impersonations, he has a great way of nailing someone’s specific demeanor or attitude. Dialects and foreign-language gibberish too. Good actor-trained at Actors Studio.

    The arrow at the end of the clip was very special actually. Not many people knows about this, but Johnny and his crew kept that arrow in a plastic bag for years and years. The arrow was used in a sketch that bombed heavily and Johnny decided to keep it as a reminder and warning that successful comedy doesnt come easy without hard work and preperation.

      Why didn't you run a search, *MaTeOWaNnA ReMaSt'RzEr of LoLs* ? The episode was put up on _RUclips_ over one year before you put up yours:
      ruclips.net/video/CpRezd2a4T8/видео.html
      Don was *excellent* ... aside from his uncanny ability to provoke belly laughs, he was a truly fine actor as well. His co-star in the episode was Bobcat Goldthwait, whom I was surprised pulled his weight very well. (His career has sadly waned, in the years since.)
      At the nineteen minutes and forty-eight second mark of _The Ventriloquist's Dummy,_ from 1990, I was surprised to hear four letter words. My memory of "Tales From the Crypt" was that it was on regular television, where curse words were naturally disallowed. Maybe there was a special DVD edition of these programs that contained edited and more risque versions.

They were, including Don, very respectable people, and treated everyone equally. Equally insulted, or respected. It was about the person, and a respectable audience. The new crowd is getting rid of religion, the minority of anything decides the majority of rules, and, well, the more ridiculous, and silly the humor the better. It needs to be politically correct,m and in alignment with the ACLU, and the FFRF, in addition to others. Johnny wouldn't last a month today. As respectable as he was, his show would not survive.

    The conversation is natural. Nothing rehearsed, no cue cards.
    I miss that.
    Kudos to Dave and Conan though!

    When Doc sat on the couch, it seemed like he out of place. He didn’t laugh too much. I get the feeling he wanted more attention on him. Like his weird outburst before Rickles came out.
