Rolling Stock: Bombardier = ALP-45DP Locomotive #4529, ALP-46A Locomotive #4641, and ALP-46 Locomotive #4616; Multilevel Coaches and Cab Cars. Alstom = PL42AC Locomotives #4001 and #4030, Comet V Coaches and Cab Cars.
Since I got done with my trip on Train #1009, the Montclair-Boonton Line express train to Dover, I figured that since I was already here, why not record some of the trains here for your viewing pleasure lol. Even though it has been occurring for a multitude of years, it is always nice to see the versatility of the ALP-45DPs via their change from electric to diesel and vice versa to comply with the territory they cross into.
Even though the sets originating from New York Penn Station are about 8 to 9 cars long, the short length of the platforms on the Morristown and Montclair-Boonton Lines make it mandatory for trains to overshoot them, thus prompting passengers to walk back to the rear to exit. I had to learn this the hard way when I visited Denville station this past April.
Just like Dover, Long Branch and Raritan stations both possess rail yards and limited service west of the stations; however, stations west of Raritan and Dover can only be accessed via direct trains only unlike the shuttles and direct trains used for service west of Long Branch and there are only 5 stations west of the aforementioned stations. Similar to Long Branch, mode changes are necessary to continue west to Hackettstown.
Similar to the Long Branch station on the North Jersey Coast Line, there was an abundance of PL42ACs, ALP-45DPs, ALP-46/As, Comet coaches, and Multilevel coaches. I was hoping for a variety of equipment, primarily some EMD diesels bound for the stations west of Dover, but sometimes, things do not go according to plan, but it's all good. For my first day at Dover, not a bad experience.
Looks like when Train #1011 showed up, it looks like PL42AC #4001's rear headlights were not shut off. I assume it needed to be refueled earlier and when it reversed to couple to its current set at Hoboken Terminal, the headlights were utilized.
With that being said, I have said plenty, so I will leave it at that.
