I just moved out of NYC in October.. I’m currently in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and it’s beautiful here.. No sales tax plus insanely cheap car insurance.. I still miss the hustle and bustle of NYC, but the CV19 killed the city unfortunately.. I just see NYC becoming more and more unaffordable going forward.. Stamford is good if you still prefer to live somewhere that resembles NYC in appearance
Born in Stamford. The downtown is absolutely nothing like it was when I grew up there in the 1960s and early 1970s. It is virtually unrecognizable. The housing and rent is astronomical!
What a lovely place Stamford is. It's so clean and crisp, very well kept. It is obviously quiet at present, but I expect it has a bigger buzz in normal times. Nice looking university building.
Actually Stamford almost always looks like a ghost town. It gets a little busy around 12:30pm Monday to Friday and around 6pm to 1am. Other than that his city is a ghost town. I lived there for over 18 years.
@@michaelrytel2389 Yeah, like many American cities, it was reconfigured for cars in the 60s/70s, even going so far as to replace a large chunk of the old downtown with a shopping mall. Many people will drive into downtown, park at the mall, target, the office, or whatever, and drive back out without spending a lot of time on the sidewalk. There are some pockets of activity around Bedford, and maybe on Summer St/West Main, but those are the exception. I hope Stamford rediscovers its urbanist roots someday, because it has a lot of potential with the proximity to Metro North. From what I have seen, most of the new developments still tend to be quite car oriented, unfortunately.
I live in Connecticut too and there has been an exodus here to Connecticut we are seeing new yprk cars every where 🤔! Stamford is a beautiful but. Very expensive city to live in I live in bridgeport
People who moved out of New York during the Pandemic moved all over Connecticut not just Stamford, and they also moved to Florida, and Texas for the most part.
@The Green One Maybe not...for their second home. But hordes of wealthy people who's primary home is in Stamford along with elsewhere throughout Fairfield County, have always made the daily work commute to NYC and back. That's been the common thing among southwest CT residents for many, many decades. Hence CT being New York's "bedroom community" (celebrities / Wall Street etc.)
I think its great that people are moving and revitalizing America's less populous cities. America is a beautiful country and there are lots of beautiful cities all across the country.
Since your traveling beyond the boroughs, may I suggest New Brunswick , home of Rutgers, J&J, 18th to 20th century architecture, 2colonial era churches and Old Queens and even in door dining! Short train ride from Penn
Its funny cause I moved to Stamford CT before the pandemic started. Then during the pandemic a bunch of buildings started being made everywhere in the city. Coincidence, I think not! Haha who knows but it really is a nice place to live. Fiesta on main is my favorite restaurant
Didn’t even touch Harbor Point which is actually where New Yorkers have been using it as a stepping stone to eventually buy a house in the suburbs in Fairfield County for years. One company monopolizes the whole Harbor Point area, BLT.
Suffolk is nice i live here, but it crazy expensive and the traffic sucks. If you make very good money then its a good place to live if you dont like me im looking to move its to expensive for us now
@@justakidfromjakku6538 i "grew up" in Suffolk.....Long island and was there until my early 30's. I lijed it. would love to live there but too much moola. Wow, it's expensive. we've got a place like Stamford in the UK just north of London, Milton Keynes very simula and just as boring, thanks for the walk AK maybe Stamford will look a bit more lively in the summer
Yes it’s very lively in the summer. Tons of outdoor dining, bars, food trucks, boating, beaches etc. It’s a great place to live. Ive lived in both NYC and Stamford. I like living in Stamford and visiting NYC
I think it all depends where you decided to live in Florida. I moved to FL from Stamford and I love it. I didn’t know I would ever say that but there’s are way more business opportunities in FL than CT.
A lot more of people from New York have been moving to South Carolina Mostly Myrtle Beach and all surrounding cities Buying up all the properties and new built expensive homes They started really coming in by the thousands a day when Covid19 hit New York We also have seen a lot of people from New Jersey
Yep. And people in CT who can afford to do so are moving to PA or NC. Adios nutmeg state. (Can we still say that openly?) Home of the haves and have nots. As always thanks for posting AK.
I too moved to Stamford from nyc ! Best choice I made. Live in a luxury apartment with a pool paying the same I did for a piece of shit one bedroom in midtown
Like any other small city in suburb area of USA. No comparison to New York. New York is New York. If you are moving to there from New York, I will bet you will be moving back to New York in 3 months or going crazy with a boring life.
New York isn’t even New York anymore though lol, and I don’t see it getting better any time soon.. It used to be the best, but it’s so unaffordable that it’s not even worth it to live there anymore
I absolutely hate Stamford. My trash home town. Ugh. This is giving me depression. Surprisingly the sun decided to shine in that town that day, it’s usually very grey and over priced. Once you move here, you’ll find the school system is depressed and your kids will turn out either addicted to Perdue pharma drugs, in jail or extremely under achieved. The city part has little to no greenery, which is also depressing. Just grey grey grey. Everyone is on drugs. Everyone. Did I say everyone? The mall is empty. Why? Because the over priced rent is forcing people out of the town. There’s no money for pleasure. The stores in the mall do not last and most likely the mall will shut down soon. It’s the ghetto. It’s an over priced ghetto. There are some nice areas, right around the corner from the ghetto. Night life is one of the only things they do have. Lots of bars. But be careful because the ghetto does come with bar fights and shootings. But depressed people love to drink on the weekends so... I digress This video only highlights the 3 nice downtown streets. Let’s see the west or east side. Ugh

You've done that in other videos too and I doubt that anyone is interested in looking at the intersection and the cars waiting for the light to change as you cross it.
