  • This is the best landing to date ive had in the area.
We flew directly over Manhattan and Central Park and got some of the best views of NYC other than taking a helicopter ride.
    Very dirty wing however.
    Enjoy this landing?

  • @OSTARAEB4
    @OSTARAEB4 5 лет назад +4

I've flown this approach quite a few times when I lived there and I always hoped for this approach (the River visual) which is the best approach and why I love flying into LaGuardia(LGA) This approach is truly amazing especially in May, or October or November when the weather tends to get crystal clear. You get to see about 70-80% of the city as you fly up the mouth of the Bay, the Hudson and see the amazing skyscrapers before hooking over The Bronx or lower Westchester for this Runway 22 landing. Sometimes the Expressway visual is where they fly you over Brooklyn and into Queens for a direct fly in over the roofs onto Runway 4, or fishhook you over the old world's Fair grounds and Citifield stadium to bring you into Runway 31. Manhaatan will be on your left side and although impressive, you don't get as close and bird's eye spectacular view as the one featured here.

    • @debbie3218

The best view is when you're making your approach into LGA at night, while there is a ball game going on at Shea (it will always be Shea, no matter of corporate sponsors). Seeing that from the plane is gorgeous. But now living in CA, I have to fly into JFK nonstop from LAX.

Nice view. As often and I fly into LGA on business, I never get tired of this view. How lucky that the different approach patterns to LGA all take you right over the city. This is one of the best ones, crossing over the very bottom of the island and flying up the Hudson -- basically the reverse route that Sully flew when he landed in the river. Some days NY Approach will have you make that jog to the west a little further south so that you can see all of lower Manhattan if you're sitting on the right hand side of the plane, flying right up the Hudson past the Bronx. The view if you do that after dark on a clear night is just amazing. Thanks for posting!

*I once took a flight that landed in LaGuardia in the evening. And the lights of the Manhattan buildings in the evening was unbelievably beautiful. It absolutely destroys this video, first because it was live, not a video, and 2nd because at night it's even more impressive, all the tall buildings looked like miniatures.*

We landed in JFK and should have got the transfer bus to Newark. But we jumped on the bus to la guardia. We were to go to Phoenix. The United girl at LGA told us we were at the wrong airport but no worries, there was a United flight to Phoenix from there in one hour and we were welcome to get on it. We did! How relaxed it all was. In the UK you get stung for every mistake....forget to print out your ticket, wrong size case, wrong spelling of name etc. You get charged extra at every point. Mind you that trip to Phoenix was in 1989 so maybe things have tightened up. Great video.

Pretty great view of Manhattan island.
I used to frequently fly in and out of La Guardia. Favorite landing approach was when runway 04 was active: would usually fly south on the NJ side of Hudson River, providing a spectacular view of the entire Manhattan skyline from GW Bridge to Battery, left turn to line up on runway 04 just south of Statue of Liberty with an equally spectacular view of the Battery and bridges leading downtown from Brooklyn. It was like getting a three-minute Circle Line tour from the air. I ALWAYS requested left-side window seats when I knew the wind was from the north at La Guardia.

@@emelio7995, by your poor English ("excuse" and not "excuse me"), I'm not surprised you don't know where São Paulo is located in ... Brazil exports TV soap operas to the whole American Continent; they are seen by millions of people, and they can be seen in the US, too, by cable TV, dubbed in Spanish. So, in general only the Latin community living there watches them. As a result, the gigantic São Paulo is very known in the continent, except in the US. It's also known by educated people in other continents, exactly because it's one of the biggest in the world. But, it's not your case, I'm sorry.

Excellent video. Still pictures of a city like NYC does not convey it's size and density. Nether does helicopter videos. This jet flyover video, because of the speed of travel, gave me a real understandable 3D sense of it all. Communities built in a grid fashion with a highway cutting diagonally through them. I could perceive the physical size of every building as the angle of view changed. When the big buildings came into view... Spectacular works of construction. Central Park! Thank you who ever you were to reserve a place for nature in the heart of the city. Yet Central Park looks small compared to the constructed area around it. As the jet got past the park other green areas showed up. Even a golf course area. The landing was quick and stable. I would have enjoyed that ride had I been on it.

So what altitude would they be at that point of approach, 3-5000feet and doing 200knots or close to 370kph? Judging speed can be deceptive when looking out an aircraft window depending on distance to the reference object, just saying..

Thumbs up for this view. Never seen one like this before. My best bet this flight came from the west or south. No matter what bad things can be said about NYC it would be reckoned among the best cities of all times. Yes I can agree that a lot has changed negatively which are also attributed to the effects of immigration but the great blueprint of a metroplis remains.I've had the opportunity to visit NYC to experience what's it like living there.I Love NYC!

Hopefully you gave the pilots a high five! Landing was a 10/10.

Very cool video! I made a similar one of sunset landing at LGA with an American Airlines flight! It's really lucky to be afforded this view!

NY is such a big city ! I'd lose my bearings in it and,its population certainly dwarfs those of some not so small countries

And to think that the elite rich will fly from one state or city to another just for lunch. They will fly to the Caribbean or Hawaii for the weekend. Then complain about everyone elses emissions and carbon footprint. But you guys who are commenting are so appreciative of a simple safe landing....I'm one of you! We have to experience the world through RUclips. I'm not complaining, to just have a PC to use we are so lucky. I am grateful for that.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoy this view and I also enjoy the view coming from the other direction, flying over that stadiums. That view is very nice because you get to see where the world trade center was, nice view of Manhattan.

Same here. When you see it from the sky it looks so massive and almost impossible as a city. But it all works like clockwork. And when you're there in your neighborhood, it feels almost small.

This is why I love aircraft over cars. No cop up there to pull you over for going 10 mph over the speed limit, or failing to use a turn signal.
