It isn't an "African" language but it is a "South African" language that has developed over centuries and spoken by the vast majority of people of all races and tribes in South Africa and spiced with vernacular unique to South Africa. South African English is spoken either as a first or second language and ANYBODY employed by the government must know and speak two languages in order to be hired. That is the rules. I have to wonder whether those with "degrees" in the EFF bought them or did they get someone to write their exams because they DID study in English. Aside from that, a bigger attempt should be made to translate and indeed improve the official languages into teachable book and lecture format. My assumption (and if someone can tell me if this is so or not) is that the "African" languages need to include words that encompass engineering, science and technology in general. Problem is that there are 9 official African languages
I am not a Zulu. But I think isiZulu language is much better than this nonsense language is being spoken these bunch of ladies are speaking.
30 years ago, when the ANC won the elections, isiZulu should have been made compulsory in schools instead of Afrikaans. Afrikaans should have been offered as an optional second language.
This would not have helped the current Deputy Speaker of course, as she probably finished school well before 1994.
EFF is a disgrace honestly
Disgrace to who?
You yourself are a disgrace
If you say EFF is a disgrace because they object to our languages being undermined.....you are saying our languages are a disgrace.....yerrrr....in whose land
Definitely not yours exclusively my dear child. Who do YOU think you are. So disrespectful...beter gestel, up yours
DA IS PLAYING WITH AFRICANS PEOPLE
Yingani thina siphoqwa ukuthi ulimi lwethu lwebele singalukhulumi
You can as was explained. There are 11 South African languages.
Back in the days when the rest of Africa told SA to also chase the colonizer out of Africa. You waited, now you are stuck with them and their racism in your own African country.....
Zyakhala😂😂😂
Seems as parliament gonna be more of useless debate than solving country's problems
This is not good for the country... We are not serious
English is serious?
We are in Africa, and African languages should be recognised in parliament
This is a serious matter. Languages play an important role in culture. Whites in South Africa would never understand our cultures if they aren’t going to learn our languages. Our kids in some schools are always forbidden to use their home languages. There should be a law that ensures third language learning in schools.
Im happy with Progression Curcus
My vote in 3 ballots 4 EFF is working keep it up fighters
Please people build the country, do not play. Deal with the language separately.
LOL@"Build the country".. with who? The DA?😅😂. You have no clue what's happening here and what is to come.
the language is part of building the country wdfym?
Build the country using English and Afrikaans.....wow I never thought we would be sent back to 1976 in 2024. Language is the very essence of a nation.
How exactly are people expected to participate in parliament when they can't express themselves in their languages? How does one build a country when they can't even participate to proceedings due to language. It's very easy and convenient for you to say that because you can speak English/Afrikaans.
Im a black person MK supporter but this was very unprofessional and childish from EFF. Mmmmh shame on you Ramaphosa for allowing all this.
This is the result off years of being ignored and oppressed. People are angry. This rainbow nation clearly doesn't work.
I respect the speaker for being professional and neutral but, this is the outcome of our unequal society
Shame on Ramaphosa and the ANC! Shame!!
I couldn't follow you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😮
This parties should understand,,to represent the citizens of SA,they cannot refuse to speak English,, Afrikaans might be a problem definitely not English
Why English?
