Newsworthy, interesting and the funny parts MINUS the boring rest of a long Parliament sitting.
Parliament of South Africa - “To represent the people, and to ensure government by the people in fulfilling our constitutional functions of passing laws and overseeing executive action”. Parliament is now really turning into a circus due to translation problems and unnecessary points of order. *****
The Constitution affords all South Africans the right to see and hear what happens in Parliament.
For the last 7 years and for the benefit of subscribers and the community “My Africa” search for sequences that are newsworthy, interesting, funny etc. From a, sometimes long and boring, Parliament sitting allowing the community the opportunity to choose which sequence they find interesting and want to watch.
As a result “My Africa” adds significant value to those effected by the exceptionally high cost of Data and Pay TV.
Also “My Africa” allows the community to comment and contribute to discussions in a meaningful manner and take stories forward.
However, we will NOT condone the following:
- Racism (including offensive comments based on ethnicity and nationality)
- Sexism
- Homophobia
- Religious intolerance
- Cyber bullying
- Hate speech
- Derogatory language
- Comments inciting violence.

When they speak the Nguni language interpretation is given but when it's Afrikaans there is no interpretation
I am entirely sure if the Afrikaans are aware how lucky they are, rubbing shoulders in Parliament with those who they (or their forebears) had not only disenfranchised but maimed and killed. If the reverse had been the case, indigenous Africans would have been denied access to Parliamentary seat for eternity.
It's about time they show some appreciation and humility, not thus air of superiority being currently shown.

In south africa ,african languages spoken here are not of foreign origin.Other languages are brought by europeans here in south africa & in africa as a whole. What a nonsensical uninformed comment. What is wrong with Mam Khawula asking for translation? Why do people always have to be unnecessary aggressive and dismissive of Africans. Speak your Afrikaans and English all you want, but don't dare force foreign languages on us. This is Africa and these MPs represent constituencies who deserve to be equally represented and heard in Parliament. These black MPs who defend this nonsense of people speaking Afrikaans to the total exclusion of others are out of order. Pleasing the Masters much. Shame on them. Then these Parliament speakers who are always saying translation services are not working, but then ask speakers to continue speaking when others can't understand what is being said is just utter incompetence.
This is becoming a constitutional problem...I'm no fan of EFF...however, all members should be allowed to perform their duties in any language they choose...if even one member is unable to understand a member on the podium due to technical issues of languages, they need to suspend parliament until they solve the issue...We are sending the wrong message that if you do not understand English and Afrikaans you are not allowed to represent your people in parliament...

South Africa has 11 official Languages. Members should ask the speaker that the Technical Persnnel to make sure that each member hears what is said by other member of other official Languages.

As an EFF member I support expropiation of land without compensation because most of the land was stolen.
However with regards to Afrikaans - it is a beautiful South Africn language and we cannot eat a language.
It is important that we all leave it alone and not antagonise its speakers for nothing.
They did not steal this language from anyone infact, they came with it and modified it here.
It is their language and we should respect all our languages.
From what I saw is that the EFF said nothing against Afrikaans just that interpretation in all language is necessary so that all pariamentarians can understand.

Graham Jones : firstly there is no Khoisan clan or tribe in Africa. What we have in Africa are the Khoi Khoi and the San people. We did not allocate South Africa to any tribe until the Europeans conveniently divided the continent according to their thieving and murderous ways. Everyone was free to roam wherever , the San and Khoi Khoi had camps all over ,as hunters they followed the wild animals . The wild animals followed the rains both predator and herbivore . The Bantu being stock farmers also did likewise and as they ran from the enslaving west from up North are currently spread in the east ,central and South of the continent.However the point to be made is that no European has a right to make any claim on the African continent. You are not an African no matter how many generations your ancestors and yourself have been here. Those are non-sensational facts . It is mere arrogance that a European somehow believes they have authority to tell an African where they come from. Even referring books written by your brothers on the history of a people foreign to you.

Lol English isn’t even a pure language. If you study linguistics, you will understand language mixing better. Some words don’t have equivalents or are learned in one language and not the other. Super common in bilingual individuals the world over.

How come the interpretation services are not checked a day before the proceedings take place? Language is very important and this is embarrassing for the debates to come to a halt because the interpreting services arent working.
