As someone who suffers severely from depression and anxiety, my room gets severely worse than these people. I am severely lonely. Last night I threw out, I shit you not, eight full bags of trash. My room still has much to clean up. It gets bad. Someone's room reflects their mental state. Hope they feel better soon with whatever they're going through. Was still a fun watch.

These rooms are actually where bed bugs spawn in to reality.
I mean where do they come from originally? You always hear of people catching them from somewhere but is it actually possible for a room to be so dirty that bed bugs suddenly spawn?
Bed bugs are like lice, you get them from someone who has them and your personal cleanliness doesn't matter since all they want is your blood and a dark place to hide (like under your sheets or in your box spring or a mattress seams.) a dirty living space will attract other insects but usually the kind that'll eat rotting food, not blood suckers. I will say a dirty space would give them more places to hide and harder to kill but that's not why they're there.
This reminds me of a time, years ago, when I was in a group chat with some gamer friends. The one girl of the group lived with her sister. The sister busted into her room yelling at her. She forgot to mute her mic, and the whole group could hear the argument. The sister yelled at her for her room smelling of piss, because she wasn't cleaning her cat's litter box. The sister also yelled at her for the piles of dirty dishes in the room, with mold growing on them.

It was nearly impossible to clean because of the hoarding and mold, but my studio apartment is small, easy to clean and smells lovely now. ] As someone who's room gets messy pretty bad sometimes, i appreciate you saying it's not too late to start picking up. Ive been working on it since i was raised in a gross junk house and being shamed only pushed me back in a corner.
Tip: Separate it into zones & take care of one zone at a time. It’ll make you feel like you accomplished something at the end of the day, you’ll see progress, & you won’t get overwhelmed.
yep, grab a garbage bag and just get the trash, don't have to commit to fully cleaning it. Don't try to recycle any of it either. If you have dishes that nasty just throw them away too. Feels good.

Like all the trash within signt. Another time all the dirty dishes. Or laundry. Just cause it causes me anxiety to try to get down to surface level all at once cause thats a bunch of different steps. Like trash, dishes, clothes, move everything that's supposed to be there, scrub with cleaner, vacuum, move everything back...ugh.

How...the absolute HELL do you let a room get this bad!? Maybe it's just because I'm a clean freak to some extent, but I get irritated with myself for leaving an empty glass on my nightstand. I could not allow my dwelling to get like this.
most of the time when people's rooms get this bad it's because of depression, depression can REALLY fuck you up and can make people not feel the need to shower, clean their room/house and just generally look after themselves, worst part is that deep down you know you should but you just have no energy to do it and that makes you even more depressed, it just becomes a never ending cycle unfortunately

But I don't know, maybe it's how he copes, and maybe it helps motivate him.
Depression will do this. I had such a bad depressive episode and my house was disgusting. Then when I asked for help from my exes family they called me gross, lazy, and refused to help because it should be my job. People not having sympathy doesn't help when it comes to depression.

I admit, I sometimes get lazy and leave a can or two of soft drink/soda next to or on my desk while I'm on the PC gaming, but I never let junk or filth pile up like that. I used to have a slight drug problem and would lock myself in my room for days, just gaming and druggin...needless to say, when I went to rehab and my family went through my room, they were horrified by the milk jugs full of piss in the closet.

My gaming set up used to be a wooden chair, a laptop, and a mouse thats a couple decades old. Luckily for me my girlfriend bought me a new mouse a bit over a year ago. So now when i use the mouse on the side of my leg due to lack of table, its a functioning mouse

My 15 year old brother is exactly like this, he's gotten better luckily, but at one point I could barely stand to walk past his room to get to my own room, he had dozens of piss bottles and rotten food everywhere, we had fruit flies for months, worst part is he doesn't have a door and my dog was constantly trying to get in his room to eat the food he left sitting around, me and my dad are at our wits end at this point
