I talked with a police officer here in IL and he said all the highway signs switch from saying “don’t drink and drive” to “don’t road rage” because so many people were getting killed due to road rage as opposed to drunk driving lol

this is the correct answer. You always go not guilty immediately and work it out through the plea funnel, most cases never go to trial.

I remember that story. Apparently the bike group was well known in NYC for just showing up and deliberately shitting up traffic in the city. The dad drove as far as he could before inevitably getting stuck in traffic, and that's when the bikers busted into the car and beat him up. There was a car armoring company that supposedly offered to fix, and upgrade his car after that.

I do wonder about people that road rage, especially when I'm in the car with someone road raging that were perfectly mood-free before getting in the car. When they get mad at people driving normally I wonder if it's like a form of anxiety turned into anger or something.

I actually read something recently that there is a whole psychology with road rage from a guy who had to take a court ordered class for it. It's the feeling that someone is trying to get over on you and since the car takes away so much individualism/humanity of the other party plus being literally in your own echo chamber that is hundreds of pounds of power it exasperats everything. He left thinking how stupid it really was and how no one is actually thinking about you or taking anything personally and most was in his head.
I've learned from the MSF Course to not take the actions others do (like cutting you off) personally and just assume they didn't see you. If you have that mentality going behind the wheel it's a lot easier to manage road rage.
@GrumpyIan mhmmm, I don't have a high level of road rage, but a lot of that class is really helpful in general. Honestly, the majority of the time, we are making mountains out of mole hills.

Honestly, a thought process like that doesn't make it better, that almost makes it worse. This person is sitting in a two ton death machine and can't follow the rules that were laid down so people don't die.
It's not "heehee, silly mistake" or "little bit of pointless lawbreaking, like jaywalking at 2am on an empty street". It's "make sure you obey the rules or people will fucking die".
I don't drive, thankfully. Can manage most of my errands by bike or public transport, but even there it's really apparent that some people have 0 regard for other human life and that shit just gets you angry. If a car doesn't indicate and almost murders you, it's not easy to go "man, what a widdle mistake that guy made, hope he puts his glasses on, haha", because you almost just got severely hurt or killed by someone who didn't care enough to flick a switch or look at other humans.

Yeah can't follow that when I am cruising along on the highway at more than the speed limit and then have so many pass me by, almost rear ending me for example, (maybe they like kissing ass before passing? Even if its the middle of the night and both other lanes open on the highway, why tailgate me at 75+ in a 70?)
My "road rage" comes from how so many on the road do not follow the fucking laws on the roads. So specifically the assholes inside the cars

I’m not gonna say that some of these people don’t have other things going on in life that are causing them stress, but it’s always fascinating that the breaking point for some of these people is being inconvenienced on the road.
I invite you to drive around town here in historic Porkland Oregon!!! It’s so so so so frustrating!! My buddy Gandhi was visiting me last week and this guy is king of non confrontation. Well he was….. until he tried getting across town at 4 on Wednesday. Long story short he had to flee back to his homeland to see asylum. On the way home some dude split his wig. Pretty sad actually.
Honestly. Nothing I loathe more than a road rager. Especially over trivial bullzhit. I get it. People are idiots. But we all got to deal. No need starting some zhit that you WILL be unable to finish. You never know if you'll piss some ACTUAL psychopath.

Even though the population has increased tenfold since then. I’m lucky enough to to be able to make my own work schedule so I just avoid crossing town or freeways from 11 am to 6pm. Even when I have I’ve never raged because I’m not 12 years old and throwing a fit. It’s funny to watch people lose it though. The dude in the video sounds like an absolute waste of skin too so not a huge surprise he pulled something like this.

The one with bikes in just gonna say is completely justifiable. I’ve seen SO many of those street bikes act like the rules of the road will never apply to them. And if anyone has an issue with it they will try their absolute best to destroy your vehicle and/or assault you, but when you actually try to save yourself or defend yourself , they act like victims

So I’m a police officer in a state where we can’t pursue vehicles anymore. These motorcyclists/atv riders have taken over our streets. They run people off the road they attack peoples vehicles and there is nothing we can do about it.

If I was in a car with my family and a group of 50 bikers was harassing me and tried unsuccessfully to rip me out of the vehicle, I’m running as many as I can off the road and trying to gtfo. If they tried to rip me out again (like they eventually did) they’re catching a 9mm to the chest like the guy in the video. You don’t play around a man’s wife and kids.

A drunk woman who was experiencing psychos once attacked me and my car with two hatchets in the parking lot of a convenience store because she thought I was sent by the government to spy on her. I always thought it was pretty funny that she thought the government sent me out on a secret spy mission in a beat up bright red mini hardtop (don’t judge me I was young and it was cheap 😅)

As someone who rides, the majority of motorcyclists are fine but you’d be surprised how many motorcycle groups or gangs think there owed shit on the road. They think it’s rude to be passed or that they for some reason deserve respect. Like I said, most of us are fine, but a lot of motorcycle groups are filled with some of the most entitled people you’d ever meet
Yeah my ex was really into the motorcycle thing and he told me stories about the gang he claimed he was a part of and showed me videos of them, and told me how they’re entitled and will steal peoples phones/property & throw them if they don’t like what you’re doing. Just crazy stuff. I don’t trust anyone I see on motorcycles or speed bikes because of what he told me, I’m super cautious if I pull up near one at a stoplight.

I get what you mean though. I don't have an issue with motorcyclists and think it'd be fun to get a bike but these big groups who drive in a pack and think they're all tough are truly pathetic. @@DatBoiOrly As someone who has had to pass a group of motorcycles that weren't going highway speed &/or were stretched out a fair bit, sometimes you get stuck in the middle of the pack. Same thing if the pack decides to pass you. To just immediately assume the family chose to be there & to run over people is just insane. Also if someone break checked me & then all their friends surrounded me I'd be calling 911 while doing everything in my power to get out of there. It doesn't matter who started in the wrong surrounding someone menacingly & then chasing them was not the right move.

One time some guy got serious road rage for getting cut off (not even aggressively his lane just ended) and followed me for a solid 30 minutes. Only reason I realized he was following me was when I was switching lanes he tried staying behind me but ended up smashing into a car behind me. Imagine being so angry you follow someone for 30 min and then crash lmao

Road rage was the precursor to trolling and the pure hate people spew online. Being in your car is similar psychological to sitting behind a computer screen. For some reason, when a person has a barrier between themselves and another person they become much more aggressive and short tempered. Maybe it’s cause they feel like they are safer? Or the car is an extension of their person? Idk but in both circumstances people act way different than they would have if a car or computer screen wasn’t between them and the confrontation.

I bought a dash cam when I started driving a 40ft flatbed. it saved me twice in the first week, one incident was a guy rear ending me at a stop then trying to say I reversed. people are absolutely nuts on the road.

I've never been a victim or perpetrator of road rage, but I've been in situations of old people forgetting how to drive. Pro tip, don't tell someone to drive faster, they will put their car in neutral.

Favorite road rage video is definitely the one at 10:30 😂 I’ve seen it before but it reminds me of another road rage vid where this guy is mad and says something to the other driver like “I’ll beat your dick” or something like that not really thinking about what he’s saying, and the driver is like “dude that’s gay.” Road Rager stops, thinks about what he just said, and both men laugh it off and the rager apologized. I watch dashcam videos all the time, because it's the perfect continuous trainwreck. There's actually been a LOT of wild stuff happening in Portland lately. There was a woman getting into it with an older couple who chased her down. The old dude starts swinging at her, and a guy stepping off the MAX behind them whips out a baseball bat in a perfect twirling motion. It was like something out of a bad Adam Sandler movie.
The biker thing happened to me once in stop & go traffic. I just pointed at the guy and made the crazy motion around my ear, and his friend waved me on and let me pass by. They are vehicle bigots but they can't do much to you in your car so just ignore them.
Bikers compensate hard cause they think their Ducati will make them gods but in reality drive as well as bmw drivers

I don’t always drink and drive, but when I do I make sure to drive as fast as possible so I’m on the road for less time.
I 100% understand the severity of the situation. Having some nutjob plow through people at a parade. It's terrible! ... But when I tell you that I laughed when the Mario and Crazy Frog music was playing at the same time... It just took me off guard and it was so fucking funny. you never know what's going on in someone else's life. Maybe about to shit their pants, or has an emergency, or running late for work because they got stuck at a train. You're not doing anything wrong, but if there is more than 1 lane, id say just don't drive in the left lane to allow the ppl that are about to shit their pants to go around.

I usually go with flow of traffic and follow the 3 second following rule but I never go 10 miles over the speed limit because its not worth the possible $400 ticket.
Which is funny because I constantly see people behind me get pissed just because there's a little daylight between me and the car in front of me so they speed up to pass me only to have immediately slow down not to hit the car in front of me whose speed I had already been matching in the 1st place.

@@slashgnr11 that was my point exactly. There could be a very valid reason as to why someone is upset and trying to get around you driving. Maybe they just found out their kid is in the hospital but you'll never be able to find out, so everyone should just do their best to go witj the flow and stay out of the way if you cant keep up.

Bald dude in the black and white video 6:00 shooting his pistol cut a dude off who pulled up beside him pointing AKs out the window at him and shooting at him. He knew this by observing them in the rear view mirror and did it out of self defense. Just a little FYI to people watching this vid.
Where the hell did you get this? Eric Popper himself never said anything about AKs and the Florida Highway Patrol maintains that the driver simply threw a water bottle at his car which Popper assumed to be gunfire.

I'm past the point of road rage I just sit in my car in shock at how many people drive recklessly. No concern for anyone but not even themselves. Turning in front of people, driving on the wrong side of the road, parking in the middle of busy intersections. Its an everyday occurrence now. I think covid lockdown caused irreversible entitlement and brainrot.
