I think you are by far the most level headed non boring RUclipsr there is,I struggle listening to certain ones but you just have the right way of telling things.x
I had issues with scissoring, and the issue was the way I wasn't letting my hips relax. I'm a flexible person and my balance is great, but it felt so unnatural to scissor even a little bit--almost like it was too much of a stretch for my hamstrings. I realized you kinda want to practice putting all the weight on ONE LEG and almost swaying your hips back and forth as you shift weight to get the feeling down. Now it's the easiest thing ever! I bet someone who has been doing this for a while would be confused why it's hard to scissor for some, so I thought I'd give my 2 cents! Watching this video because I still can't turn enough to slow myself enough on a hill or to stop on a narrow sidewalk. ☺
I've been practicing about 45 minutes to an hour every night for the last seven nights! I'm lucky i have had the time and means. it's about my tenth or fifteenth hour since i bought the skates. I'm now not a complete beginner haha. though I'm a really slow learner. i always find myself watching your videos to help me feel encouraged and to help me strengthen the emotional association of not being overwhelmed and being just a little silly and lighthearted. when i hear your narration, it feels like you're a genuine and warm person, the opposite of arrogant, who is cheering me a like a coach for a learner who just needs a patient person. it feels like you're being your real self, relaxed and honest, and not putting on a fake personality for youtube, and this makes me feel at ease and really makes me enjoy your videos! your instruction is simple (like you've thought a lot about what you want to share, and what you saw helped your students!) and feels like it comes from your genuine experience and love of skating. your personality feels authentic, and so your calm and fun attitude helps me feel "ah, ok, I'm going to keep going and not give up! ". i feel like i can be myself, too, even though I'm a slow learner, but it's okay if I'm a slow learner -- it's okay to have fun! i loved your video about skating in the rain so much. i loved how i could hear the sound of the environment. it was like having a guide with me in unfamiliar terrain: "skating in this rainy weather might seem scary, but let me take a walk through it with you, and you'll feel less scared of the environment". your fun and calm and genuine personalty, with all the sounds of the environment and weather clearly audible (ie minimal or no background music), made me able to even think "ah maybe i can be on friendlier feeling with rainy environments, not scared! " this is one of the strengths of your channel that makes your channel different than others for me. it makes me feel calmer, less afraid, and even just a little playful. i even feel ok when i fall. "polly demonstrates falling all the time in her examples of difficulties beginners might have, so it's normal and okay as I'm learning!". there's lots of youtube channels that are helping me learn how to inline skate, but i keep coming back to your videos if i'm feeling a little frustrated. your videos are always encouraging and calming and a little bit playful, so it motivates me to keep going :)
You make the best rollerblading videos. I've watched many others but I find myself just using yours now. Maybe it's because you have real experience teaching beginners where as the others are mostly just good skaters without real teaching experience.
For the parallel turn weight on the inside foot which is your front foot!!! For other turns like the A frame it’s outside. The secret to a strong parallel turn is really the weight transfer to inside front 🩷🙏🤙
Hi, when i scissor, get my edges right and put weight on the leading foot to turn, can't finish the circle, and my wheels slow down fully before completing the circle. What am I dng wrg? Any suggestions, please?
oh yes, parking lots are your go-to skate rink. maybe there's an underused one around you somewhere. bad sidewalks and pavement for humans, but smoooooth pavement for cars, that's how we like our urbanism priorities 😎
Polly I really love your videos. I recently got into inline skating and yours are so friendly and back to the basics I've found. I've even looked at others and eventually go "Wheres my girl Polly" lol
Thatnk u so much u madr me have more fun in blading bc i didnt know to at first but now istead of sticking my face in my phone im rollerblading for hours
one tip that helped me learn to scissor was instead of leaning my foot forward I just extended my foot forward, like your dipping your foot into a puddle, that way my weight stayed leaning back onto the trailing support leg.
I can skate just ok. But I’ve never mastered to parallel turn. Roller blades, ice skates, or even skies😂I think I’m afraid of putting enough weight and end up not turning just falling😂

🥹🩵🙏 thank you!!! That means a lot 🥲

Thanks a lot. I desperately want to learn this one!! Because a sharp turn is also a way to brake!
Idk why but it leaning left feels super awkward and weird compared to leaning right which feels super easy and natural on parallel turns
It feels like my left foot is gonna just suddenly stop or turn
I feel the same and I still don't know how to fix it😂
the opposite for me, i like left better right is weird
Such a helpful video, I love your videos!! 💗✨
Thank you so much!!🥹🩵🙏 I appreciate you! ⭐️🩷
Thanks a lot for this video
Also great explanation easy to understand!!
You are welcome!☺️🙏🫶

I am Confused with weight distribution, When you are turning where should be the most weight? inside foot or outside foot. Thanks
For the parallel turn weight on the inside foot which is your front foot!!! For other turns like the A frame it’s outside. The secret to a strong parallel turn is really the weight transfer to inside front 🩷🙏🤙
Front foot is inside foot? 😢@@PollySkates
For the scissors: it is not bringing the foot forward, it is bringing the knee forward. That way you will ride more stable.
I saw this in a different video too, but it feels impossible
Yay top 43 and top 8 likes and comments. Love this channel. Best to you and your family. Thanks for making this video. Happy holidays!!!!!

Hey, I’m a total newbie and just found your Channel! is the best I’ve seen🎉
You're the best! 😊
Coach polly always making it look easy haha. I'm determined to get this, I'm still on the big monster turn
I don't have skate parks or a clean road near me where to practice?
Basketball courts, tennis courts, or even an empty parking lot are all good places to practice.
oh yes, parking lots are your go-to skate rink. maybe there's an underused one around you somewhere.

Thank you so much 🥹🙏🩵 this makes me so happy! ☺️☺️☺️ I’m so glad!!
Air Dolphin brought me here... WOOT! 🙌🙌
Thank you so much ❤
🩵🙏
From what i felt in my foots, you need to let your weight on the heel of the front foot! Im a noob but i learn fast, and i think thats the secret…
Yes!! So useful!
So glad!☺️❣️
Very helpful video..Keep it up mam🥰
Thank you!! ☺️🙏🫶
Both of you awesome 😇
I can scissor but i can not overcome the fear of edging. I can not shift my center of mass in the direction of turning. I can not edge. Any tips?
Keep practicing! Try practicing holding onto something from a standstill maybe! 😊🙌🫶
I love this
💕💕🙏
Thatnk u so much u madr me have more fun in blading bc i didnt know to at first but now istead of sticking my face in my phone im rollerblading for hours
Love that! 🎉💪🤗
I have a heel brake on my dominant foot. Will this get in the way when parallel turning?
No it shouldn’t get in the way. Just makes the frame length longer so not as easy to maneuver
To pivot on the heel of the supporting leg!
It is easy😊😊😊🎉🎉❤❤
thankyou
🤗🙏💓
Just asking.. how do you film all you videos and sound? What are your favorite equipment? Maybe you can make a BTS video about it. Thanks!

Great tip! Thanks for adding!!! 🩵☺️🎉🫶🙏
my lead foot wants go straight so badly. everything turns but my toe.
I love rollerblading but I’m so scared of falling on my back 😭 never have broken a bone in my life and plan to keep it that way lol
Focus on feeling your weight on balls of your feet. You can not fall backwards that way
There are 5 wheels on your rollerbladez
she ascended to an advanced level
That’s the endless arc. They are wizard frames.
l did one feet for 1 hour but it still didn't work
EARLY!! :3
