If he would have had his food preply, he could have got all that done in 35 minutes. 40 tops. I've worked in kitchens since I was old enough to work and been in the kitchen since I was six. I'm not saying he's a bad cook, just not experienced. Case in point. If the bacon was par-cooked, The bacon should have gone down a minute or two before the burrito construction. If not, the hash brown should have went down with the bacon. All experience cooks know that hash browns and bacon usually take around the same amount of time. He would have prepped all his eggs and had them separated into the batches he was going to cook them in. And most restaurants would have kicked those burritos back the second they saw those brown eggs. Overcooked eggs is a no-no unless it's specifically requested. 20 minutes is ridiculous. 30 to 40 minutes is very reasonable and easily accomplished by a professional.
You move with such efficiency, your calm, collected, and so fast you don't look like your moving fast. I was a short order cook for a Norms and a line cook for BJs ~6 yesrs and your something to be admired

I think it's greedy and inconsiderate when restaurant owners/operators let people place catering-sized orders out of nowhere like that. Orders like that don't happen often, but even McDonald's get them as well especially if you live near a casino or get a bus load of high school/college kids. I used to work for a few different McDonald's as their grill cook and I once had an order for 22 McChicken, 12 cheeseburgers, and 4 big Mac's. This is just one of the reasons i left cooking, ive made hundreds of throusands for owners and exceeded expectations always only to get denyed time off, low balled negotiating raises. Good work bro , most cooks would crumble in fear from such an order
I would of walked out
those burrito people should NOT have been mad, you made those in record time!
He's got this!
He stayed calm and kept at it.
he did great. but they did place the order the day before
@DavidDavid-jb1cy He was only told that morning
You have nothing to apologize for sir. You handled it with skill and grace all things considered. You could have quit on the spot or gone nuts. Instead you forged ahead and got it done. Id still be there trying and thoroughly pissed off at whoever dropped the ball on you. Especially considering you literally handled EVERYTHING by yourself. Staying calm no matter how angry and frustrated you might be is a virtue and a strength. Well done sir i applaud you. 👏
Watching this man cook is so entertaining . I love it
If you know how to cook, this is a clas-Master class on short order
Just found your channel. You are a beast! 🦁 I love to watch but I couldnt do that job. However, even as a spectator I find myself learning from the way you manage your time. Its something I think most people need to work on, makes life more enjoyable when you can work smart and then you have more time to chill. Anyway...This is a long video, i took a bathroom break in the middle and wandered through the kitchen, found myself stacking little tasks i hadnt even thought needed doing before but i noticed them...just knocked them out efficiently and came back to help you finish them burritos!
I also really love how you seem to stay so calm. I notice you dont have your burners so hot, you let things cook in their own time. I think it helps so you don't outpace yourself and make mistakes.
I’ve worked as a line cook at a brewery, a classic diner, and currently a steakhouse.
Being a short order cook during a breakfast rush at the classic diner was by far the craziest cooking I’ve ever done.
Being a good breakfast cook is an art. I love how clean and organized this guy is. Really old school omelets on the flat grill. Did this as
a Navy Cook.
I really admire people who take pride in their work. You really do an amazing job!
Bravo! Calm under pressure, efficiently completing this order, and still concerned over the wait staff tip! You, my friend, are a gem.
Your are an excellent chef. YOU have patience and work in a calming manner. Your workplace are lucky to have you.😊
the cleanliness, the proficiency, all while being organized. well done chef.. you're a gangster and i envy your professionalism
I have absolutely no idea, how I went from watching someone repair tracks on an excavator (witch i don't own or ever will). to this, im just gonna say im not disappointed and definitely just subscribed. You do an amazing job, reminds me of the days I was on the line
This was an just at the top of my feed this morning for some reason. Now that you mention it, I'm going to pop over to CEE and enjoy some nice line boring. Perkins brothers just uploaded a 3 hour video building a house you might enjoy...
Thank you for inspiring me to start my own biking youtube channel. I was so afraid to show what I’m passionate about online but I am thankful you help me get inspired to show my passion at cycling. Your cooking looks awesome brotha!!! Keep cooking!!!
No rational thinking person should expect 40 burritos in 20 minutes. Homie got it done with class though. Respect.
@@DocMartn253he literally didn’t even know about the order until he came in, how was he supposed to have everything prepped?
@@ess6566 lots of fry cooks enjoy their pissing contests
You’re underestimating this generation 😂
@@DocMartn253 Yea but he didn't know
You move with such efficiency, your calm, collected, and so fast you don't look like your moving fast.
I was a short order cook for a Norms and a line cook for BJs ~6 yesrs and your something to be admired
I just have to say after watching this amazing video earlier, Alex is a badass and I was right there w him counting cracked eggs, wondering what strategy he wld use to knock out 40 burritos. Truly a very special chef we have here and this channel needs to be the #1 on this platform. Love how Alex walks us through his thinking as he bangs out whatever is given to him.
❤
@@CocineroMX back atcha Alex!
I couldn’t cook that many burritos in 7 hours mad respect ✌🏻🍽️🍽️ one hour and 39 minutes I watched it all one word meticulous in all you do!!!
Another amazing day at the grill…or might I just say, a 2 hour of steady stream of orders after the burrito madness. You are pure excellence in the kitchen.
ur a pro, im a kitchen manager making as much or less as my line cooks and I could only wish my kitchen was this open and clean, ur mad efficient my guy, everything is so satisfying
I was a teenager in the mid 70’s and started out as a cook at Sambo’s…I lasted one day and said this isn’t for me…The pace & pressure was too much…You’ve done this for years is incredible 👍🏻🤩🐶
Incredibly impressive. The level of focus and multitasking is a joy to watch. I wish more high pressure/high precision professionals like you would throw on the body cam lol great content
Bravo Alex. You are a force in the kitchen.
I watched for over an hour and then you got an order for a steak and continued to touch everything without changing gloves I mean just raw beef juice everywhere even on plates going out to front of house. Uh oh
I love how clean and efficient you are! Great job on that big order, and keeping your cool through it. Keep up the good work!
I think you make this job look very easy and to you it probably is but I would be very overwhelmed. You do a great job!
Putting an order for that much and expecting it in that short of time is just insane. Especially having only ONE person doing everything. You did really good. Keep it up. 👍🏽 From Hawaii-🤙🏾
Loved the whole video, great work you do. It’s too much, you make it look easy. God bless
Been watching this guy for a couple weeks and can say he is a boss! Knows every inch of this kitchen. I tip my hat sir!
This is a real chef watching his every move it's no time wasted it would be anyone's honor in any kitchen to have the person work with them amazing job with another impossible order.
Chef no, line cook/short order cook yes. There are HUGE differences in knowledge and responsibilities of a Chef to a line cook.
@@garygsp3I concur. Those titles often get used interchangeably by those not very familiar with the profession.
Amazing chef. Loved the way you changed your gloves each time you touched anything on the floor, even when you didn't actually touch the floor with your hands. Also, it shows a great chef when you take the time to clean your work area.
Best way to wake up on a Saturday morning! Always be watching brother !💯💯💯
Or a Tuesday
I remember at my first job I'd get crazy ass orders sometimes. It is NOT fun getting that overwhelmed plus the continuation of orders behind the massive one. Great job, sir. Nicely done.
Darn you're good!!!..I bet after that "burrito rush" everything seemed like slow motion 😊
@40:43 "At least it's not busy, you know?" Had me rolling.
right? chuckled at that 😂
Definitely got a tutorial in burrito folding.
A magician in the kitchen. You're a beast. You should be proud of how you command the kitchen. Great Job!
Alex love your channel keep up the great cooking. You make me so hungry.
Ditto
Amazing job, handled very well. I believe everything came out on a timely manner for it all to have been done by one person. Fabulous! ❤
Bro you got this, dont matter what people think. Do you bro. 💯
Having worked in food service and having to cook a whole catering order that was ordered the day of and it needing to be ready in the afternoon, while simultaneously having to cook up current orders also coming in, I totally understand you. The anxiety of being watched while its being made and feeling like your being rushed is so stressful and anxiety ridden, I feel like if you’ve never worked food service you could never know the feeling. I dont miss it at all….working food service if anything made my anxiety worse. I applaud you, I commend you, keep up the great work my friend!💜 lots of outta NYC!
Just need to say for the record should there be one, this chef is on it and he is top notch !!!! I recommend this man for any high pressure or high volume cooking, idk that you could get a lot better then this guy❤❤
And there was me thinking Americans didn't understand sarcasm...
Wow 😮 what a fantastic job. Totally cool under pressure. My grandson wants to be a cook. I’m sharing your videos with him.
Would love to have one of those burritos! Great job!

I cant believe that you cooked that many burritos in a short amount of time...Too bad if the customers arent pleased, one person can only do so much...Mad respect to you boss, love your videos and keep up the good work...Look foward to your next video...❤❤❤
You are an amazing chef. You do not get frazzled, when they showed up early for the order. You stayed calm. Wish lived closer to Ohio though. We would try out your amazing food. Very clean work station.
Thank You
26:00 Amber, geet…go on, geet.! Really though, she got time to stand there and stare at you she got time to be helping you. Handled it good my guy. Love watching ya cook. Id love me one of those burritos. But id want them homefrys and peppers in it😉 Much love from Maine!
Exactly! She had time to watch, she had time to help. In fact, they should've taken someone off the front of house and put them back with him to help with this order.
40 burritos , ordered the day before , and they didn’t even tell you ?! Oh helllll no , that’s disrespectful. Good job knocking it out and keeping a good attitude, you work hard and stay focused. Much respect from someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years , I’ve worked every possible position in a restaurant. This is hard work and you definitely have to think fast , be smart , and be able to multi task very well. Good job.
My first time on this channel. Even though he's obviously under pressure, every meal was prepared with care and they all looked super tasty. New subscriber from here in the UK!
Also the cleaning right after shows a man with pride in himself and his work!
It’s an amazing thing to see a true master at work. Nearly every second was fully utilized.
I started cooking 🍳 in my dad's restaurant at 15yr old....those were the best days
I meal prep for work almost on the daily for breakfast and lunch. I love the way split your portions (and count) to stay organized.
Worse thing a cook can experience, a large order that no one has told him about, or the dreaded buses showing up unannounced.
51:57 my guy you are crushing it this morning. You handled it amazingly great job honestly! I love your videos usually watch them in the background on my second monitor while i'm researching.
I COULD FEEL THE RELEIF WHEN YOU GOT THAT LAST BURRITTO OUT ,,YOUR AN AWESOME COOK BUDDY YOU KEPT YOUR COOL AND GOT IT DONE 😁👍👍👍💪💪💪 GREAT JOB MAN
@@stevetheriault4164 And, He still kept working without a break. That's real!
What an amazing feat with the 40 burritos! You deserve a gold star for that. I worked in busy restaurants while in high school. I must have been good at it because, in a small town with 3 restaurants, the owners were always offering to up my pay to go work for them. Watching you handle all those orders with ease was a joy. I'm I'm 72 now and you brought back the old days.😂❤
Dang, hopefully they gave you a nice tip. You sure deserve one.
Ironically, after a long day at work when I get home make dinner/clean dishes/do laundry/feed daughters cat/ I down a shot or two ":)" I really enjoy watching you cook. Seriously, it's like therapeutic. Keep em coming!!
Keep going Bro. Hold that line down, don't let the pressure blow. Stay hydrated. Peace.
And you say you weren't busy. Lol! You go non stop.
Love the goings on of a professional kitchen. Love the rhythm, the smells, the energy and patrons. ❤
Is there usually only one cook per kitchen? What happens if you're sick/unavailable one day?
probably just the opener and they usually don’t account for an order of 40 burritos lmao
I am 90 years old and was a fry cook in my 20's and you really brought back memory's
mucho respeto. the way you asked your co worker if the people who ordered were giving her a hard time says alot about your character & that you love what you do.
This is exactly what pride and professionalism looks like! A great person doing a great job. Keep up the great work.
Apart from no consistency, no seasoning, no monitoring holding temperature, cross-contamination (cheese in lettuce, so now contains lactose; sausage in red onion, now contains pork).
He wouldn't last a day in the UK.
Interesting to watch what other countries do. Throw egg in the recycling bin? Lol, nah.

Not even 1 dollar 🙃
@@CocineroMX this really sucks man...
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even sound grateful, and were grumpy cause they had to wait ... most folks just think about themselves, world would be a better place if we took more notice of what is happening around us and empathize with our fellow people.
Whoever took the order the day before, effed up big time not telling you - not your fault.
Once again - you did great, you can be proud of your work and take strength that most folks on your channel are with you and support you.

Whatever they are paying you, it is NOT enough.
You are a verycool, calm and collected person performing with perfection. Maybe you were not forewarned about the LARGE order but you did it in a steller way. As you said thankfully it was a slow morning. Great work!
That huge order looks like a nightmare!
Great job dishing out those breakfast burittos....never had one before but now I'm going to make these!
I think it's greedy and inconsiderate when restaurant owners/operators let people place catering-sized orders out of nowhere like that. You're short order cook, not a fucking catering chef with a kitchen full of prep cooks and other staff.
If they want to serve catering-sized orders, they should own a fucking catering business.
Agreed. Im sure they want that order. Theyre trying to make money. Not have an easy day at work.
It was me just me working that day and I got it done in 20 minutes.
If you know your station well enough you'd be surprised at what one person can do.
@@darthmada9574 McDonalds is very different though. The longest part about making that ordering is the drop time on the McChickens.
Man, you make it look easy! I know your job is unbelievably fast paced and requires a lot of memory! I'm just awed!
