    I'm so sick of all these r'n'b celebs singing the Star Spangled Banner, they turn it cheesy as hell.
    A national anthem should be sung lungs out, like this. Always.

      Marxism is a materialistic position based around economics. Marxists don't care about culture because it's a product of something, not the basis of anything.
      Before you make these claims, actually read up on basic Marxist theory.

      What's even sadder is how people here in the States responded to the crash. It just sickens me. These people sang these songs in good spirit and good will, and people here just trample on their corpses, just because they're Russian.

    • @TomCouger
      @TomCouger 4 года назад +9

      The Star Spangled Banner is a good piece of music that is surprisingly difficult to sing. The reason people tend not to think so highly of the song is because most people who the song have no idea how to sing it. When a proud and proper group of singers like the Red Army Choir sings it the song can bring men to tears.

    An incredibal tribute in song to the United States of America from the Red Army Chorus of a Russian nation we have cold-warred so long with that we have forgotten they were our allies against Germany with during World War II. If the Red Army Chorus can bring such great heart to American heritage, why may we not do it in return? This rendition brings me to tears and my knees. Let there be brotherhood among nations, and a resolve towards peace.

      He took the terrible and malicious hits from the vicious and ignorant, totally uninformed and quite frankly, utterly stupid public, to get SOME to take that closer look. He martyred himself for the people. He'd rather YOU learn and free your mind and self than continue being a slave. He gave up his career for you.

      Cheeki Breeki I don't see much hope for that considering nato is expanding to the western block, when they specifically said to the Russian federation that they wouldn't, but if NATO ever dissolved, world war 3 is not a distant prospect, and also the US sending sanctions,and also gifting anti missile defenses to post soviet states, with Ukraine being gifted one recently. Also if The United states really wanted peace, they wouldn't have startes the coup in Turkey, which wasn't righteous for a country kilometers away. Now with Turkey having more relationships with Russia, it only strenghtens the tensions between the nations.

This wast a time when Gorbachev was introducing big changes that resulted in the end of the domination of the Communist Party, end of the Cold War, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. So travel abroad by Russian artists was much easier. It's likely that this performance occurred in the USA - why else would they be singing it "live"?

To listen to a band that represents a nation that took part with the US in a skirmish that almost ended the world, to then sing the anthem of the US is amazing, and beautiful.

    As a student of music in Mexico, one of our teachers, a Mexican-Jewish musicologist named Abel Eisenberg affirmed to us that the tune of "God Bless America" was originally a Bolshevik anthem that Israel Beilin (Irving Berlin) plagiarized. Could that be true? That may be the reason for its popularity among the Red Army Choir. Oddly there is another famous Russian composition by Tchaikovsky: "1812 Overture" always played on the 4th of July celebrating the American Independence all over the USA. Odd... truly odd!

    Too bad that none of our major national choruses would ever reciprocate. The Russian anthem is a wonderful piece of music. Too bad we can't have a "choir off" to decide the next US/Russia crisis.

    So one question...is this actually like the Soviets as in before the fall of the USSR, or Russia as in the current Russian Federation mislabeled as the USSR to gain views?
    Also...having an irony overload atm.....Russians singing patriotic American songs...my brain is overloading atm....

    • @49metal
      @49metal  7 лет назад

      So this is actually like the Soviets as in before the fall of the USSR, i.e., this is the Soviet outfit founded by Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov (Александр Васильевич Александров) and properly known at the time of the recording by the appellation "Академический дважды Краснознамённый, ордена Красной Звезды ансамбль песни и пляски Российской Армии имени А. В. Александрова" ("A. V. Alexandrov Twice Red-bannered and Red-starred Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Soviet Army"). The recording itself was made in the last week of September 1989, at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada, during the Ensemble's goodwill tour of North America. Two years later, in September 1991, America reciprocated by sending Metallica to Moscow and the USSR collapsed within eight weeks.
