As an 80's kid this and the Countach were the dream cars.
100%
...and the 959📣
Had posters of both on my wall. Separated by Kathy Ireland of course
Countaches are for c***s - the one with the ‘n’ in the middle
As a 90's kid. The F40 was my dream car.
As the happy owner of a 991 GT3 4.0, I am a true porsche fan as much as you are. However, the F40 has always left me speechless. It obviously takes big ones to get the best out of it. Intimidating in every sense. Your sincere humility at the wheel of this iconic car is very appreciated.
How did you buy your 4.0? How’d you make enough money?

Porsches are my fav model of automobile.but the ferrari f40 was my childhood dream aswel as the porsche 911 turbos.I remember building a toy model of the f40 that I had gotten as a birthfay present as a child.ever since then this car has always been in my heart
Complimenti per il suo acquisto.... Porsche gt3 rs 4.0 2011 auto rarissima. Grande fan porsche!
I think we all dream about having a friend that lets us borrow his humble f40... living the dream luke!
😁🙏
and living inside a forest huh
The F40 is the most beautiful car ever created. It's not just a car, it's timeless art. It's 35 years old, yet it's gorgeous design still stands the test of time.
Exactly 🤌
@@carswithluke. As an Italian, I have to say that in this case that hand gesture (🤌) is not really appropriate. 😉 Although of course I know that many people abroad do it simply as a “classic Italian hand gesture”. But they always do it in the wrong situation, simply to imitate an Italian, but where no Italian would ever do it. This hand gesture has a specific meaning, as do many other gestures that we Italians make with our hands. That hand gesture means something like.... “But… what do you want ?!” 🤌 (ma cosa vuoi ?! 🤌).
@@aris1956thank you, educational!
@@akapple3538 You're welcome, I did it willingly. Being also an Italian teacher here in Germany, I often have to explain it to Germans too. They also always do it in the wrong situation. :)
@@aris1956 In situations like this, most of the time that hand gesture emoji is to symbolize "chef's kiss" along with possibly saying bellissimo or similar. This is different from "ma cosa vuoi".
this was and still is the most iconic ferrari ever imo. crazy power, no AC, no Radio , no powersteering, or power brakes.. nor any electronic driving aids. just man and machine.
It came with AC

Never been on this channel, but instantly became a fan. You pay so much respect to this car! And the sound recording - dare I say it's better than something we get to experience in AAA-grade shows like TG/GT.
What a special car! The sounds it makes, the exhaust, the turbo and blow-off valve is just amazing! 😍
I think this is the dream for many car enthusiasts! Well done, you're lucky and you've probably earned it!
Indeed it is, another one ticked off the list!
Also a 90s kid, also had the F40 model car as a kid. Still remember being mind blown when my father showed me that the front wheels turned when you moved the little steering wheel with your finger.
Fact's
Burago model cars had quite the collection as a kid ❤
Your friend is generous and trusting. Lovely scenery with the beauty of the F40 set against the glorious Alps.
Now it's time for a "F40 Night Drive" 😉 can't wait to hear the exhausts sound inside tunnels😍
Thanks Luke for bringing such a cool car on the channel!!
F40 Night Drives let's goooooo!
Cheers! Yes we are discussing a Night Vibes with it 🤌
It's really F40 season. Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, The Car Guys and now Cars with Luke. All in the past week. Not too bad!
Not bad at all!
the prices will insanely go up
Probably a few owners think it is time to sell…
What an awesome car. Thank you Luke! Also, here's an interesting tidbit: compared to modern cars, the F40 is quite compact. In fact, the GR Yaris has a _longer_ wheelbase, by about 10cm.
Yes crazy to think! Modern cars for sure got big and wide
God, seeing this video on my 21st birthday is one of the best presents I could get. An utter masterpiece of a video, and the F40 is what dreams are made of. Perfection, through and through. You've done it again, Luke. Mindblown.
I salute your honest display of humility towards this intimidating machine. It needs a special road and a mindset to match. For the full send, I recommend Davide Cironi"s video on the F40. It's the most visceral review so far on RUclips.
Luke, mate! Not only are you a top bloke & shoots amazing content.. in a world of clickbait, YOU are one of the few YTs that titles your videos correctly! 👊🏼🙏🏼😍
Similarly, I’m also a huge 911 fan. But the F40 was always reserved a special place in my heart. The wind-up windows were an optional extra for those who didn’t want the standard plexi-glass sliding windows. The spartan cockpit which generates a cacophony at speed, and the relief of shifting gears smoothly at the precise RPM and road speed with Ferrari’s quintessential ‘tink’ make the F40 a pure driver’s car. Only the ‘73 RS, 993 RS and 997 RS 4.0 can deliver a similar experience in the Porsche lineup. The F40 is such a masterpiece.
It was such great morning with the Queen and Luke 😄 !
It's all about the passion and most importantly: *sharing it* !
Thanks for the nice messages and take care guys ❤
(PS: I will try to upload a POV drive soon 😉)
Thanks mate, sure is! Looking forward to more this summer 🤌
been following insta since it was j the scud (at least posted). cool to see you sharing the passion. respect
Remember when we had to watch videos of stuff we didn't even like on regular TV. Bless you Luke. Love the content.
Ha yes I do remember! Happy it’s enjoyed
Oh wow. The contrast between propelling this car at creeping speeds with tight corners and reversing, versus how it comes alive when the environment around the car opens up is just staggering. Heavy becomes light, difficult becomes easy, constraint becomes potential.
Well said!
My dream car , when you said insane I knew you were driving it properly . I remember reading an article in a magazine and the writer said it HUNTED down the road .
Never heard of you before, but saw the f40 and had to watch. Fair play i enjoyed the video. Lucky to drive that. I remember a load of us diverting off the m4 on way home once as someone mentioned there was a f40 in the Dick Lovett in Cardiff . 8 bmxers stood there drooling as the security guard looked on. I dont think we would have gone out of the way for any other car
I'm a Porsche nut and owned for 34 years, back to the 80's when I had a choice of what to buy. Only one Ferrari ever made it to my wall or diecast collection, the F40. Perfection!!
Brave man... I won't have the balls to drive that car knowing it's worth, but hats off, am sure you had a blast! Wish it was a longer vlog.
I used to get upset watching videos of people driving cars I'll never be able to afford. This one hit's different. He has the same genuine smile on his face that we all would have. The F40 is legendary and I'm stoked you got to experience it and share it :)
dont say never, stop thinking that way it is never to late if we all would think that way we cant achieve something nobody would drive these cars or cars wouldnt even exist.
dont be upset but let it give you motivation
NICE! I'm going to borrow my friend's Prius.
An offer I've been turning down forever.
Nows the time! 😂
Awesome! When I was at school my Dad worked for Ferrari, He had to deliver one to a customer in London and came home to ask if I wanted to go with him. First and last F40 I ever went out in, I don't think I even took a photo of it. But amazing experience, wish I could remember it better. It definitely had the lexan slide window instead of the full wind down ones.
Friends hang out with you. Real friends let you drive their f40 in the swiss alps!
The scenery was magical
Oh Luke, you know to choose your friends.
What an underground car park...😍🥳
5:07 in such car you never show of. Best a workout - armpit ponds?😄
9:57 Music++++ : again pops & bangs... the twin turbo : oHHHHHHH
My sincere thank you Luke, and Pierre!!
🙏
An interesting fact that few people know due to the prohibition of Ferrari itself, the first units of the F40 manufactured in 1987, "they say between 20 to 25 units" have the same power +650hp and almost the same weight as the 288 GTO EVO "less than 1100kg with fluids " for not being within the new traffic rules of the time, making the maximum speed stay above 360km/h and the acceleration stay in the house of 3s exactly in the 0-100km/h! What machine!! Will always be the best, great content mate!!
You grew with no electronic, no IPhones... but F40 in your mind, as many of us who were kids in the 80/90s! ❤❤ thanks for the vid! That was and remain on of my favorite car
Indeed! 🙏
I met the VS40 F40 in St. Moritz last year in person. What a beautiful machine! You are the lucky guy to drive it. Why Pierre was not joining you in the car?
Sattelegg. Nice one Luke! They say “never meet your heroes”, but in this case, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. What a car…
Exactly!
The car, the sound, the landscape, what do we need more?
Not really!
1.7 Mio 😂
where is he?

Thanks for including the gear change experience when you taking off and exiting onto the road with the 'rev matching' etc. You did a good job relaying how it felt to handle and such
Epic video footage! Congrats for the awesome experience and thanks for transmitting all the noises and senses of the car to the fullest!
😊🙏
Luke publishes his videos very late Sunday night in my timezone. Everyone knows that sad feeling when a weekend about to finish and the expectation of the first working day is a kind of depressing... BUT! Luke's videos change the picture completely😊 Besides from great quality, thank you so much for the perfect timing ❤
Fantastic video Luke! I've only been a passenger in an F40, but they are pretty freaking awesome!
The most underrated automotive, youtuber on the planet, I stand by that till the day I die
Nunca me canso de ver el F40, una verdadera máquina de la ingeniería 👌👌👌👌
Money can’t buy you happiness, but owning a F40 makes all your days specials. And that gives you happiness.
💯
The only thing I dislike of Luke's videos is that they end!!!😭 THE EDITING IS JUST PERFECTION!!! ❤🔥🏎
😊🙏
Can't even imagine the excitement as you are climbing in to sit and start this car as you are about to drive it!!
Staggering. My all-time dream car. Fantastic Luke! Video felt as 2 mins in and then it was out and about sadly. Make one of two hours. You've got my vote ;)
About 1hr ago I was talking about my dream car, F40, with colleagues. Then I went onto RUclips and this video was suggested. Brilliant!
Ha happy to hear 😁
That's what I call a good friend
amazing to see what kind of work it was to drive such a beast. not at all comaparable to modern supercars where you can just get in and push the gaspedal and you go fast. just imagine the learning curve for moving the f40 really fast ...
friend's garage looks pretty solid!
I've had F40 poster in my room as a child but never seen one in my real life. fast forward today what a classic mouth dropping iconic to own!
Your videos always get better and better! This is truly my dream car, and the views you manage to capture are amazing! The best
As a guy born in 1980, the F40 is, and will forever be, "The One". ❤
As others have stated it sounds amazing! Mint condition F40's are probably very rare. Thanks for sharing.
Correct. I’ve seen a few ghastly examples on RUclips and abroad. Very sad.
I can't imagine how exciting it would be to drive an F40. What a car!
Love it when folks do the window winding hand signal who have only used electric windows :)
Wow! A car who needs pilote skills to be driven fast. Incredible boost approaching the high revs! Thanks, great video👍
I got to say Luke that was just filmed beautifully. Well done
Thank you!
Pierre was really flooring it in those clips. Beautiful car thanks for sharing
🙏
Lovely video luke!! I feel so happy for you to finally drive a Dreamcar! Pierre es always cool and chilled, love how you two fit together 🔥🔥
What a beautiful car! It requires driver's every senses to drive this beast, it's so raw, not like the typical modern cars nowadays with computer programs chip to help aid drivers.
Congratulations Luke, once again! I love the facial impressions when shifting, that’s a lot of work. :D
Ha thanks man!
Have been driving 87 suzuki swift for 22 years now since 2002 i can imagine how good this car feels fi drive
What an amazing car and the number plate could not be better!💪🏼
This, Porsche 959 and Jaguar XJ220 are my all time childhood favourite supercars.
I randomly saw one of these on the street a couple months ago. Impressive car and crazy value.
My dream car. The pinnacle for me. Thanks for the motivation. I'm 23 now, one day I will feel what you felt in this video. Thanks for the content Luke!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who misses roll up windows 😂
Chemtrails are crazy in Switzerland! Didn't expected that man😮😮.
Yeah many said the same, I know that airspace area is often used by military
Pierre is as cool as his F40😂 I enjoyed every second, great car with manual gearbox!
YES!!! Was really excited just watching that, must have felt incredible in the drivers seat.
Also, the first part in the garage was really cool.
Flyby at 6:50 ==> immediate like
🤌🤌
Das ist nicht übertrieben das schönste je gebaute Auto, und dann noch mit der passenden Nummer Valais 40!!
🤌🤌
That sound is so amazing! Congrats Luke! Awesome video as always!
When I was a kid I also got a Bburago toy car F40. It was my best car and despite turning 43 this year I still keep it :)
Amazing! Wish I still had mine
OMG what a car ! Loved watching this ! Dream Sunday drive !
We need an ASMAR version of this video. No music no effects no talking
I like the sound of that
My truck I used to own had power steering so probably easier than this although you said it had truck like steering with no power assist. 👊🏻
Yep, super heavy when not moving!

Very special! Enzo next !?
Enzo is on the list! But never met someone that owns one.
"what do i have to take care of?"
"(deep stressful breathe) .... everything" lol
Great experience, thank you for sharing!
Indeed it was, long time dream to drive one!
The F40 and the Pepsi = perfect Combo 👍🏼
so happy for you man! my dream car along with Countach
Oh yes! That needs to be filmed next I think
@@carswithluke fingers crossed, thank you for keep showing us true piaces of artwork and engineering
I was born in 1987. This brings back many memories. If you had the F40 in card games you knew, you would win.
Ha yes exactly! Wish I still had those cards.
I didn’t really appreciate the look of the F40 when it first came out. But the more it ages, the more I understand that it was and is a true automotive masterpiece. Great video, thanks!
Fuel pump delay extacy. Insanely exciting day. Errrrrr. Jealousy. Forget the sweat. Toil. Above 2m they were 750-900k , well out reach most or 98% us. And now doubled. Seriously exciting car.
An iconic car, no other way to say it!
Truly!
The revs to get into gear is not typical, even when cold. You should be able to get it moving just by slowly letting off the clutch on a flat surface.
Ferraris aren't my thing but an f40 😍👌🏼
I photographed the only F40 in Australia (for a car mag) back in the late ‘80s. Mad car. Your thumbnail for this video is brilliant!
Cheers! Hope you still have the mag!
@@carswithluke I don’t! I went through all my old mags a few days ago for my latest video, and all I could find on the F40 were some original transparencies and a photo of me with the car.
Luke is the best😍😍😍😍😍
🙏😊
Agreed
@3:50 the moment he closes the door and the camera shakes - that’s literally all you need to know about the build quality of this car 😂😂😂
