    The Dec/Jan "13 games in 41 days" schedule only serves to highlight how important it was to take care of business in August/September.
    Aug/Sep we had one game a week, nice weather (by Scottish standards) nice pitches, a fresh squad off the back of a good pre-season.
    Aug/Sep was a golden opportunity to put some easy points on the board and that is EXACTLY what we did. As a result of that we have given ourselves a cushion heading in to this hectic run of games.
    13 games in 41 days - There is absolutely no chance of us giving a 10/10 performance in all those games, so we have to bear that in mind. The chances are that we will drop points or, whisper it, lose a game!
    The consolation is that our rivals have a similar hectic run and because they didn't take care of business in Aug/Sep they now can't afford to drop points. Celtic also have huge cash reserves in the bank and come January we can bring in one or two players to help share the burden.
    So all in all, it's more good news than bad IMHO.

    Bernardo was having a great game - I don’t know stats but on the eye he was the one winning the second balls and keeping possession
    I think Roger’s keeps hatate knowing that he can supply a winner

      Bernardo does love a pass back. But I trust him to bring a ball down and control it more than anyone else in the midfield, and he does have quality and I think he’s improving slowly but progressively, imo.

      @@Boo1023Boo Sadly I've still to be anything like convinced about 23 year old next month Bernardo for the fact, as you say, '' he loves a pass back'' even when he doesn't have to & the other wee fact too that he still, with monotonous regularity, continues to give the ball away far too easily & particularly when playing at the very highest level in Europe & on the positive, he does have a shot in him whilst having, to a certain degree, a wee bit of physicality & last but not least, most thankfully we didn't pay the very silly £6 million for him & if we had, that would have made a very silly hat-trick of very silly fees for £9.5 million with the add on, Idah & the humongously silly huge big whopping £11 million for Engels....

      @ Absolutely fair assessment. I admittedly rate him, and I think it’s likely do to how annoyed I get watching the ball ping around in the air in the middle of the park domestically. Because he is good at getting it down (at least to my eyes), probably weigh that far to greatly compared to more influential attributes where he lacks a bit to a lot.

    • @georgebarr5102
      @georgebarr5102 3 часа назад

      @@frankbrennan1619 aye fair enough if we are talking relative to outlay I’d say Luke is a great buy and Bernardo has potential
      Engels showed up big time when he arrived but something has caused a drop off, if he could get back to the form he started with and developed from there he has potential to be a top player and move on for big money
      Idah has also shown he can play - what we got against killie at the end of last year we need more of
      Agree on recent form both look overpriced
      The wonderful mr rogers has his work cut out because big buys under his tenure are currently bench warmers
      Our best midfield is cal hatate and Luke , and hatate is having a bad run of games - I notice hatate complaining a lot, maybe others aren’t showing but his preference to pass it to shadows is getting worse
      Apart from that LB and LW signings are a must 😆

    Hatate started off really poor and when Bernardo was hooked instead of Hatate, I was honestly gobsmacked.
    Hatate did play a bit better as the game went on and in to ET. That's probably down to tired legs all over the pitch and so Hatate's lack of drive & energy from minute 1 was finally matched by the rangers players around the 75 minute mark and in to extra time.
    But surely to God we cannot keep starting Hatate in these games in the hope that he'll be able to do something late on when the opposition are tiring? That is something we should bring him on as a sub for.
    Maybe Rodgers hands were tied with McCowan being cup-tied and he felt forced to go with Hatate as our only properly creative midfielder. It'll be interesting to see what McCowan's involvement is like now that the League cup is out of the way and he's now eligible for every game we play.

    Unreal stats on Engles. What's the answer in midfield to solve the creativity issue? Surely it has to be a long run in the team for Luke McCowan? I genuinely think he can replicate what O'Riley brought us.

      @frankbrennan1619 15 часов назад

      I completely agree that the just turned 27 year old McCowan be given ''a long run in the team'' as you put it & for sure, he'll see some action, maybe even lots of action, in these ''13 games in 41 days'' the poor wee things, but you have to remember that football Managers have their very own special brand of huge, off the scale, egos, death defying stubbornness & a hypersensitive hypersensitivity that even a pubescent teenager would be completely embarrassed about & so in that context & ''context is everything'' as dear old Alan most rightly likes to remind us, our current Manager NEEDS £11million Engels to ''succeed'' far, far more than £1million, Celtic daft ever since a wee bairn, McCowan & ALL the difficulties that poses....

  • @rossevans2261

    Close down McGregor you close down Celtic. (Brugge)
    Target Taylor, (weak at left back)
    Hatate (lightweight)

      Oh, it was a game for Kyogo all right. Trouble is none of his teammates seemed to know it. When Kuhn was through on goal early on all he had to do was slip the ball through to the wee man to tap into an empty net. Kyogo also now spends much of his time in defence heading the ball away at corners and set pieces presumably under instructions. Personally I think this is a bit of a waste of a top striker on the break but Brendan knows best! 🤔

      @gezobel I don't disagree, maybe I should have said not set up for Kyogo, but the podcast covers it, I'm sat in the North Upper watching him make run after run off the ball and not be found, it's pretty frustrating because as you say it's a waste not only of his talent but also a jersey at times, but who are we, undefeated all season, so as Alan says life is good!
      Here's hoping there's a process to trust in! 🙏

      And yet here we are 11 clear and now having won 3 trophies this calendar year and a distinct possibility of CL playoff qualification. Even the Lisbon Lions didn't win every game they played or play beautiful flowing football every match. Agree on Kyogo though - need to find a way to get the ball through to him much earlier. We'd notice it if he left though - even just for his pressing ability (let alone the goals he scores in big games!) He makes so many good runs behind and with exception of Hatate occasionally and LM he very rarely gets played in.
