I have been hand sewing face masks for everyone for over a year now so gnomes are great fun to glue right now. Glued blings on request to all face masks so I'm really handy either way. For the smaller pattern in this style (Scandinavian Sweeties), it might work because they are less heavy. About 1 minute in, it shows the pattern for the hat. Because we're using fleece, it just needs a sew up the side and you're done with it. The body is the base for the scrunched hat, so no stuffing or additional work is required (other than decoration).

I think I could do this...if I had the felt or the fleece. Wonder if it will work with cotton or burlap??
You would have to add an additional seam allowance for cotton, as there is no stretch, but yes, it can be done.

That was a clay nose for the gnomes, but if you're using a wooden ball, it's 3/4 inch size. A one inch would also look great for this size gnome, too.
