DJ, producer, and songwriter Jonas Blue believes DJing has evolved to become all about putting on a show, but he still loves the “classic style” of mixing on the spot with a CDJ setup. Here, he talks about the improved sound quality he’s noticed in the CDJ-3000 professional DJ multi player - which he describes as a “performance unit” - and how the new Key Shift feature will be a game-changer.

They're just reeeeeeeeally fucking expensive DJ controllers. They're not turntables.

@@djstuc yeah, I absolutely love my 3000s, but I started DJing in late 80s and nothing will compare to the feel of cueing up a 12" and twist controlling the pitch for some fine tuning...its tactile, you feel much more physically connected to what youre doing.

@@djstuc yeah sweet set-up man, having that mix of digital/analog is just a killer combination! I had a controller set-up for a while alongside my decks, really liked it actually... but wanted to ditch the rekordbox/laptop so got the 3000s, I still have to sort my library out with cue points via rekordbox etc but its nice not having a laptop/software when playing a set, feels a bit more old school. Ive got a Rane MP2015 mixer and the 3000s sound amazing through it via spdif, the rotary pots take me back to the 80s even more aswell hahah. Proper old timer! :-)

@@djstuc oooh yeah nice, Mastersounds make lovely stuff. I bought the FX unit but using it with my Rane I couldnt get full functionality like you will with the Rad 4 so sold it for a Zen Delay...the sound quality of Mastersounds stuff is so nice, the guys are lovely to deal with aswell, super nice and helpful.
Just had a quick flick thru and that mix sounds very tasty aswell, that will be having a full playthough over weekend!

@@djstuc I used to use Mixcloud mostly, havent for a good while tho, might have to start putting some up again since ive finished my set-up.
Is it a real pain to go from mix to youtube then?
