All I have to say is people stop being so loyal to these companies. These companies DO NOT care about you. They can close at the drop of a hat and there is nothing you can do about it. I have learned from working on jobs that many of the workplace rumors are true. It pays to pay attention to them especially when the rumors are the company is closing or about to cut back.
Although I don't agree with closing abruptly and leaving the employees blindsided, I can see why. They didn't want theft. I knew an individual that worked at a RL years ago. He said it wasn't uncommon for employees to steal a half case of frozen crab legs and other fish items here and there. He said not all employees did this, but it would happen frequently. Now, tell the employees that they are closing the doors in 2 weeks and you probably would see the freezer emptied in less than a day. It's sad to treat their employees this way, but they are looking out for salvaging what they can.
In the 90’s I worked at a restaurant owned by Warner brothers and they sent the vp to say the rumors in paper was not true. 2 days after they closed without telling us
Yeah but if you were quitting this job they expect a 2 weeks notice so you dont put them in a bind.. but these companies will shut down with no notice are fire you with no notice not carrying what kind of bind they put you in..
The company used to be a nice place to work, but that hasn't been true for 20 years or more. I'm not surprised by the un-announced closings. It's the sort of stunt the company likes to pull these days.
Sad situation, I feel bad for the employees and bad for the restaurant. I have always enjoyed Red Lobster until the one in my area closed down about five years ago. I missed having lunch there with my retired friends and still miss the place.
All the education, all the people at the top and yet they made a bad decision to offer endless shrimp. We see this so often, of these narcissistic ceo’s wreck their companies.🤔🤦🏼🤨
The guy complains that he feels used because he worked on Mother's Day and they closed the following day. But the restaurant was busy on Mother's Day, which means he made more tips.
@@alista4987 It's true that I wasn't there to witness the tipping. However, using reason and logic, I can easily put two and two together and conclude that more customers equals more tips. Or does it not work that way in your world?
And somehow I don't think that would make anyone feel any better about having lost their job. RL knew this closing was coming and rather than give the employees a heads up so that they wouldn't be blindsided with unemployment, RL timed the closing for one last money grab and then dropped the employees. He has the right to complain.

Not Really, Red Lobster has been declining, going down hill for years, their Menu's were terrible, they kept raising prices, and serving people crummy food, it's just now caught up to them.
man I can remember me and my wife going out to red lobster every pay day and it was packed with people no way on earth we could do that nowadays. I am very sure they will be closing down a lot more very soon sad to see what our country has become.
Since last year when their main investor pulled out of the company entirely, it was a matter of time, there’s likely to be a second and third wave of closures in the weeks to come, eventually though I think Red Lobster will fold entirely, their financial situation is dire. The Thai Union Group is desperate to get rid of Red Lobster and exit the restaurant business entirely, they’re done. Unfortunately this all comes at the cost of the employees, who get nothing. But the fact they’re even closing up good performing locations is a blinking red light to just how bad it must be if they’re closing profitable locations.
These companies get people to work for them for decades--- and they just shut them out like this..... then they wonder why they are in the position they are in. The fish rots from the head.
When you basically give away generous amounts of food product for free, what you do expect? $25 doesn't cover that millionth plate of shrimp you request!
During difficult time the under performing stores are closed first.. So this is the beginning of the end.. Only question is will the closings stop before they all close? Or will a investor come in and turn the business around..
