I hope you will never need these words, but life happens, so I think it's good to know how to discuss this topic in Italian. As always, I'm going to share with you the key vocabulary needed to talk about illnesses and health conditions in Italian. @@thecarspins with mi fa.. it is a indirect pronoun. In this context it is saying to me makes bad the head. I don't know if I explained well, but fa is referring to the head (3rd person) and mi is referring " to me". It is similar construction as piacere.

We just sometimes drop the last vowel of the infinitive (avere) to make it sound better. But both ways are correct.

Sono tutti molto comuni. "Gola infiammata" è un po' più specifico. "Mi fa male X" è anche un'espressione comune (come ti ho spiegato nell'altro commento 😉)
