@@TheSmugglersRoom I love your channel. I'm a PM for LDOE but I was building circuit boards for my dad at 12. I started programming around the same time and I've been a graphic artist for almost as long. My wife gave me the green light to redo my office, but I'm going to hold off till next year. Your channel and this community have been such an inspiration. THANK YOU!
I'd love to know more about the wiring on this. Arduino's aren't meant to output a bunch of current directly and I'm curious what's powered by the regular power supply and what is powered by the Arduino and why? Very cool build. Did I miss the link to the circuit building software?
We've gotten a lot of questions about the LED's and I will be working out a video to describe it all. The software turned out to be a paid software, so I did not include it. It's called Smart Draw if you want to look into it.
Question? On the paneling that you glued the paper towel too. How strong is it? Would I have to strategically place it to keep from bumping it? To keep from any damage.
Great question. It is pretty durable. When the modpodge cures it is pretty hard. It almost creates a "shell" that holds up really well. You can also add multiple layers of the glue to build up strength. I did that on several projects that needed extra protection. You just add a layer, let it fully cure, then add another, and so on. Works great!
Sorry, i totally forgot to put that in the description. It's called Smartdraw. I thought it had a free version, but that only lasts 30 days sadly. I probably wont use it again due to it being another paid subscription that I don't know i'll use that often. But if you want to check it out here is the link: www.smartdraw.com/
Great video. I'd love to one day make an ultra-realistic star wars room myself. By the way, what do you think of animatronic, is it that difficult to make? With technology and AI becoming more and more emergent in our society, it wouldn't shock me if before long Disney created real star wars robots with artificial intelligence, which is logically (I think?) superior to animatronic.
Definitely a cool addition. I'm interested in where you got the machine indicator light switches (shown at 3:48) because I would like to try and get some of them myself. As a side note, did you decide to actually call those components for "Chucky" the Electromagnetic Field Stabilizers? Or did you go with something else?
Those Allen switches came in a box of junk I ordered from Ebay believe it or not. They were all non functional and damaged in some way. The crazy thing is, they are VERY expensive to purchase working. But they are incredibly cool looking. The top components are still going to be installed, just at a later time. I have something great planned for the top portion. Coming soon!
@@TheSmugglersRoom Cool, can't wait to see it. As for the Allen switch I don't mind if they don't work because I can light them with LED's like you did
@@TheSmugglersRoom Sorry, I should have been more clear - you said you did a wiring diagram, and that you were going to recommend the software you use. I didn't see a recommendation :)
Is there a video or more details about the LCD that you used and how that gets setup????? That would be something that would be very interesting to me. Also... does each of the panel in your room have a separate power supply and how do you go about planning that so that you don't have to setup 9,000 powerstrips that you have to turn on everytime your in the room???? Seriously.... I could ask questions for days!!!!!
I used Adobe After Effects to setup the video that runs on the LCD. I think after all i have seen in the comments today I need to do a video on how to create the HUD effects asap! So I will get that on the list as soon as I can. Then I can go through all the steps on the LCD and how it is setup for you guys. As for the power, that is a great question. I think I need to address that in a video too. Now that I have multiple systems setup, i can run through the process of how that's done. I'll get that cooking here soon as well. Thanks!
Nearly all the hardware was hex on this project. I used a few philips head in a couple of spots, but they should hide once it's done. I like the kreg screws since they are square, but i'll have to look into triangle. Any suggestions?
@@TheSmugglersRoom - Not really, I know you like the HEX. I just noticed there were more Phillips where they can be seen in this build than I have seen in the past. No biggie. I have come across a few sites that have different screw heads on them. The triangle heads are interesting some are depressed like a standard screw and others are raised. The security screws with the rounded heads might be another interesting choice.
@@destinycaptain247 it's interesting what you said about phillips heads. I had to go look, and there is not a single visible phillips head on the whole project? I used some when I mounted things to the wall before installed the panel, however none of those can be seen from the front. So i'm a bit confused where you saw them?
@@TheSmugglersRoom - They may not be visible in the final mount. I noticed them during the portion of the build video where you could see them. That got thinking and I went down a whole rabbit hole with various kinds of screw heads. Then I came back and finished the video. All good. No offense meant.
Yeah, sorry. I didn't end up listing it as they only have a 30 day free trail, which bummed me out. It's called Smart Draw if you want to check it out. www.smartdraw.com
We thought it was a free to use software, but it actually has a pretty expensive price tag per month, so we elected to not include the link. Sorry about that.
Wow Brian that’s amazing you have done amazing work and now I wanna build a droid but I have a small problem I was hoping you could help me with the droid design has greiblys but I don’t have access to old electronics and a 3d printer so is there a way I can add greiblys without that and this droid has lights and sound and 1 moving part what board do you think is good for this
Thanks! That is a fairly complicated question, LOL. Lots of ways to answer it. 1. You don't need old electronics for Greeblies. You can use just about anything with a bit of creativity; Juice lids, old pill bottles, plastic packaging, you name it. You just need to keep your eye out for interesting shapes. 2. Electronics can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. The best place to start is with the knowledge around Arduino and programming it. I have found that once I had the basic concepts of Arduino I also learned what components would work best for what project. Bob from I Like To Make Stuff has an AMAZING online class that you can purchase where he teaches is. here is a link (i'm not affiliated, i just think its a great course) iliketomakestuff.podia.com/ 3. My suggestion would be to become a member of the Astromech Builders Club. www.astromech.net. There you will find all sorts of information around the electronics they use in their droids. Once you understand what electronics do what, then you can start to build the specific functions you need.

Do you think you could make your own bd unit droid of your own design? Because I would love to see that.
That would be fun!
Thanks Bryan!
Great build. What is that wiring program for diagrams? Didn’t see it in description.
I love the idea of animatronic. We've talked a lot about some ideas we could add to the room.
As for the Allen switch I don't mind if they don't work because I can light them with LED's like you did
Great job, lets hope nobody releases Chucky again 🙂
You and me both!
Got a link for the software?
I use Adobe After Effects to create the screen graphics actually.
Thanks!
I see you having to use Phillips head screws. Have you looked some of the more unusual types like triangle?
@@destinycaptain247 oh no offense taken at all. I just thought I dropped the ball there for a sec lol. Had to go check for my own sanity😂
What was wiring software you used? I dont see it listed.
Yeah, sorry. I didn't end up listing it as they only have a 30 day free trail, which bummed me out. It's called Smart Draw if you want to check it out. www.smartdraw.com
@@TheSmugglersRoom thanks

more to come
12:08 What software was this? I did not see a link in your list of items used.
Bob from I Like To Make Stuff has an AMAZING online class that you can purchase where he teaches is. here is a link (i'm not affiliated, i just think its a great course) iliketomakestuff.podia.com/
3. My suggestion would be to become a member of the Astromech Builders Club. www.astromech.net. There you will find all sorts of information around the electronics they use in their droids. Once you understand what electronics do what, then you can start to build the specific functions you need.
@@TheSmugglersRoom okay thank you for your help
