Not expecting a response but at least I’ll try have my very first plane and I got it used and ESC was broken so I bought a new one the 40 amp E-flight. I’m using a spectrum DX6i. I tried doing this calibration technique and it doesn’t do that first series of beeps it does something a little different. I think it’s like three beeps and then a funny tune to these switches that say flap. Jyro or gear or F mode and so on are those all supposed to be set to zero or on one all the way forward all the way back I do have my trim set all the way down to -100% my throttle button is inhibited I don’t know what to do. Thank you,
Hey Dave, I'm going to try this on my new Opterra. (Black Friday $99.00 👍) First flight on 3s 2200 30c, was really sluggish. Put in a 4s 2200 30c and thought that would wake it up, but it wasn't much better. Just seems it should have more power. Maybe this is the solution. Thanks for posting this... ✈
wayne lee 630 hope it helps! Some Eflite ESC’s work like this, some don’t. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason and you end up with no response to your throttle at all after trying it, just rebind your model to the transmitter and that should fix it.
@@TheRCAirMarshall I will try it Dave, also, I hadn't thought of re-binding it. Worth a try. I wanted it for FPV anyway, so some "slow " flying will still work. Thanks man. 👍
This is very helpful. I think i gotta do that for one of my planes. Did you keep throlle cut on initially when you plugged in the battery forst time with throttle stick all the way up??
My motor just runs even when in neutral. It wasn't like this when I started building the airplane. I am going to try calibrating the ESC as you showed and hoping that will fix it. Thank you
Throttle cut needs to be off. The ESC needs to sense that the Transmitter is sitting at 100% throttle to send the ESC into stick programming mode upon power up.
Yes, the trimmer next to the left stick on the vertical axis. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure why it needs to be all the way down when you calibrate the throttle. I just know it works. I’ve had instances where an ESC wouldn’t initialize and after setting throttle trim all the way down it fired up just fine.
hi thanks for the share tho i have to say that my EDF notor only make 2beeps and then silence for one second then again that 2beeps, why is this? i did the whole up throttle wait for a beep which never confirmed it just kept beeping as if my remote stick wasnt up when it is servos work fine on any channel really and this edf was working 20mins ago all i did was removed the 3wires from edf and plugged in my turnigy drone motor without the prop so that i can work which it did and note that i was not fully throttled it as i was just like you on my couch in home so all i did was switch motors , any tips ?
During esc calibration process where is the throttle trimer (low end or in the middle), sir. Thank you. I have E-flite E300 and evry time I connect battery motor spins itself.
Air Marshal, I thought I knew how to do this but was having trouble with my Eflite 70mm F-16. It didn't have any get up and go. I watched your video to double check and went to calibrate the ESC, it doesn't go into programing mode. You get 1 quick squeal and then right into the 6 beeps. Throttle cut is off, Throttle trim is set at -100. But no programing mode. Any thoughts? I don't want to test fly it without the full range of throttle.
Hi, Thank you for instruction. But i still have issue with spontaneous throttle ON as soon as battery is plugged. When i calibrate esc , then throttle issue stops. But then on the next flight, it recurs again , meaning throttle is ON when batt is -lugged. So , every new flight, i have to re-calibrate esc. This does not happen to my other esc ‘s. Pls help!
I have a vgood 30amp 3to4s esc and my motor is reving to high and kinda twitching and getting hot there is no deadband and I tried recalibration can this be because I'm using a 4s 100c rating lipo should try 3s I'm stumped and I'm trying to get this going for my dad's birthday tomorrow thanks oh and the motor is a 2206 2500kv rated 4s thanks
Does it matter what the throttle trim is set at during ESC initialization? Should the trim be at zero? Some people say zero, some say -50% and some say +50%.
Appreciate the reply. Opinions are all over the place and your answer matches Horizon Hobby advice. Bottom line, all the way down. Throttle trim, they said is ONLY for liquid fuel powered. Thanks again!
Hi, Dave - I just finished a home-built with the same E-Flight 40 amp ESC as you show in this video. I bound it to my Spektrum DX6 and used your calibration procedure. I have flight controls but the motor will not run (new motor which works). Tried re-binding but no luck. Suggestions?
michael Broich hmm, have you tried running the throttle trim down to -100 before doing the calibration? And, are you getting the typical beeps from the ESC when you apply power? And one other question, do you happen to have throttle cut turned on?
The RC Air Marshall well, since I’m a rookie, I’m not sure how to turn the throttle cut on and off so please explain. That would be great if that was the only problem. In the meantime I’ll try the trim adjustment. Thanks
@@TheRCAirMarshall As you can tell I'm new to computer radios. I just got my first rc plane and i initialized the esc and got the motor to start but the throttle is backwards like when i put the throttle all the way down where idle/off should be it puts the plane into full power amd idk how to fix it or reverse it. @@TheRCAirMarshall okay thankyou! But how exactly do i reverse the throttle channel? Im using a futaba transmitter. Its super oversimplified and doesnt have a touch screen. Is it the little switches on the back in the battery compartment?

scole901 this process does not work for every situation. If you no longer have throttle response, I have seen it start working again after rebinding the transmitter to the receiver. Try that and see if you get your throttle back
This fixed my problem with motor always running even in neutral. I am building my first slow stick :) - thank you Dave
I am having the same problem, did this help?
Super, thanks! Much simpler than on my RC cars... Only thing I would have the Propeller out, it looked a bit scary not knowing if your dog was near...
Nice simple tip thank's Dave I have forgotten this step when doing radio set up and then foam repair lol 😉👍🛩
Thank You Dave! just got mine done... almost time to fly again. :)
good and simple tutorial, can you kindly tell us how to activate ESC brake as i am flying a pusher it will help with my folding props

Throttle cut needs to be off. The ESC needs to sense that the Transmitter is sitting at 100% throttle to send the ESC into stick programming mode upon power up.
I tried it this morning on my Eflite Valiant and it did not seem to work. Does it have to be bound in AS3X only?
When you say set motor trim to -100,are you referring to digital trim switch next to the left stick? Also why is this done on -100 and not 0?
