I have a Lenovo Flex 5 with Intel i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB NVMe storage and a Lenovo Duet Chromebook / Tablet with MediaTek Octacore ARM processor and 128GB storage. I typically run MZ64Plus 64 FZ (N64 roms), Magic DosBox(Dos Graphics adventures, Zork Grand Inquisitor, Return t Zork etc.) , GBA.emu (GBA, GBC & GB roms), and OpenMicroWave(OMW) emulators on both. The Flex 5 clearly has the performance edge and is the fastest Chromebook I have owned to date. I use OMW android app to run Elder Scrolls III - Morowind, and offers great graphics performance, but you really need a touch screen for this app to work well, which both these Chromebooks have. Both these Chromebooks will also support Linux apps, but the Intel based Flex 5 works best, since more games are compiled for the Intel Vs ARM processor, but the situation regarding ARM is improving. I also have Steam installed in the Linux container of the Flex 5, which works well for older games. The Duet's one advantage over the Flex 5 is being ARM based, and there are slightly more native Android games that will run on it compared with its Intel based sibling. Unfortunately, neither Chromebook will run Minecraft android version as it blocked for download from the Google Play Store. This is not due to compatibility issues, but just the developer Mojang / Microsoft being difficult, as I have sideloaded the Minecraft android app and it runs fine. The Flex 5 will run the Minecraft Java edition in the Linux container, and this runs well, but you need to configure crostini for mouse pointer lock via chrome://flags. I have never tried RetroArch android, so will give it a go. I know it works well on Windows machines, so hopefully can port across some of the configs to reduce the need for scraping. I feel Lenovo currently offer some of the best performance Vs value Chromebooks compared with other brands. The Flex 5 and Duet are great Chromebooks with this regard, and it looks like the Lenovo Chromebook 3 continues that trend.

It's crazy if you think that the x86 processor needs a built-in emulation layer just to run ANY android app, then the gaming app itself uses its own emulation layer to trick the CPU into thinking that it's a game console. So, if I understand it right, for every single key press (command) there has to be two "translations" to the processor, and two "translations" back...and it still performs well :)
@@DigitalIP x86 processors are in another class compared to ARM. It's not even a contest. ARM can gain some ground by very meticulous optimization, but frankly, no one has time for that. These use an extremely low end x86 processor and it leaves even high end ARM cpu's in the dust.
@@rich1051414 That's just inherently not true, due to the smaller die area and thus efficiency gained from having a reduced instruction set, you actually gain speed over cisc architectures like x86. Can that/Chromebook cast to a TV, or is it HDMI, only? Also, will it wake, with a P/X button, when connected to a PS3/X-Box 360 controller, via Bluetooth? Also, can you boot a different system, the way you, personally, often use a microSD Linux build, or boot up, from a flash drive - using at least piOS? The last question isn’t so integral to an idea about how to use one - for which one would close the laptop, which would in turn put it to sleep, presumably until it receives an input signal, such as a keyboard or mouse click, or a controller home or other button, while the machine is still closed, which would hopefully work as I’d had my mid-aughts MacBook, which I’d mainly accessed my media server, to play content, but would use this setup idea to minimize the space around which the Chromebook “dock setup” of cables, if necessary, there (i.e., by casting from some other place, nearby. Then, I could also use it as a portable gaming emulator, and etc., for doing quick tasks, or surfing the Web. For $99, there’s got to be a really good way to use such Chromebooks, if for no other reason than being a laptop, with screen (of course), which would seem to be better than an old desktop, a RasPi, or an Android tablet, to also use like an Android tablet, with Play Store access, for much less than a similarly-equipped Android tablet... Thanks so much, for the video. You always have great ideas... 🍻

Just buy 2nd netbook (almost all of it use Intel Atom) and do the restoration with upgrading RAM to the max (usually 2 or 4GB depending on the netbook specs) and changing HDD to SSD. Question for my daughter who loves gamecube..will it run Mario Party 6, Super Mario Strikers? She has a chromebook. Thanks for sharing.
How do you set up the emulators? That is what I’m having trouble with.
GoldenEye is looking amazingly fast😍 Have to check my wife's Trekstor Primebook P14 with N4200 CPU (have win10 replaced by elementaryOS). Maybe I have to buy a new laptop for her😂
Honey where’s my Chromebook
You: Um...I am playing Goldeneye with it.
@@standingonbusiness1441 💀💀🤣
I'm gonna try on my school chromebook 🤣
how did it go?
After all these videos I think its about time for you to do a Ghosts of Sparta Let's Play
Great Emulation On This !
Well damn. I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ after watching your videos and saw how great the emulation was on that (longtime Apple user here but I like Android devices too and haven't bought a good Android tablet in a long time). I could've saved about $900 and just got this... 😂😀🤬
Tab s7 can handle more than that tho
Great video!! Thanks!
I just bought the Dell Chromebook 11 for $125 about a few days ago. Its the later model so I get 4gb of ram and the faster processer. It's about the same as the lenovo 3. Should be arriving anytime now.
Would you be able to tell me how long the battery lasts when playing a game?
ETA sir, looking for original GBC and GBA games, would they work? Also does Dolphin have games like Pokémon Red/Blue?
I like playing old arcade games using emulator, Capcom's Arcade games & NeoGeo's Arcade games still the best for myself
Could you use OBS to stream to twitch and still have the same quality gameplay?
Legit just wanna play windwaker so u made my day
I have a pi 4 2Gb that I recently slapped retroarch on. Do you recommend running straight retroarch or installing a linux distro and tweaking/overclocking from linux?
hello, my recommendation is that you install a linux distro you are comfortable with, then install retropie, alternativly, retropie have their own version of raspbian that has things preconfigured for retroarch
Great video! What is this dream cast Game beetween the Marvel capcom game and Dead or Alive please
how and where do i get the games like you have? I want to set this up!! looks like fun
You have to download the roms from places most popular is m.emuparadise.me I think
Just buy 2nd netbook (almost all of it use Intel Atom) and do the restoration with upgrading RAM to the max (usually 2 or 4GB depending on the netbook specs) and changing HDD to SSD. After that install Chrome OS from this channel and voila, the netbook has 2nd life chance.
In Indonesia, you can get 2nd netbook starting from IDR 500k depending on the condition and specs.
I have a touchscreen chromebook that can turn into a tablet by swinging the keyboard to the back of the laptop and it’s pretty cool, I’m a kid so I don’t know that much about computers but I still manage to speedrun doom with a ps4 controller lol
And also the emulators I have been using a lot for videos n stuff is Mupen 64
YOU SAVED MY LIFE
Hello! May I ask what controller is that in the the thumbnail of the video? Is it an 8bitDO?
Thanks a lot. What wireless controller do you recommend for raspberry pi emulation?
Hi, would you still recommend this in 2023? More for basic surfing, emails, reading pdfs and some light excel? Pricing is key..
Hey ETA, did mouse and keyboard controls ever come out for chromebooks?
To all the people considering getting a Chromebook let me say stay clear from anything with an AMD A series APU. I bought a lenovo chromebook during prime day with an AMD A4 9120C and it was so painfully slow.
So be on the lookout and go with any of the Intel variants
This is the same one I have and I say that it is good for schoolwork not too expensive or not too cheap and laggy

How important is the graphics chip in a notebook for emulation? Or does it all run through the processor?
ETA, you don't prefer the project 64 for Nintendo 64? What is the best : muppen or project?
What does ETA Prime stand for? Love the channel.
