What state do you live in? I didn't notice much of a difference---her prices are very similar to our prices here in Texas.
Also, the second store is Aldi's---we also have an Aldi's in my town (lower prices)

Ireland is one of the most expensive places in the world. Those german supermarkets aldi and lidl are cheap and unhealthy. You can get a few things like org blueberries and a couple of bits but largely its full of really unhealthy addictive foods designed to ruin your health.

Thank you for the shopping trip Colette. It was delightful and fun to comparison shop a little bit. The groceries in the US are thru the roof. Also, quite interesting that Ireland is neutral and keeps their tax dollars at home to help those "at home" and doesn't fund other's wars. Wish the US did the same. Have a wonderful evening!!

In the US, not only are the costs much higher, but less selection and so much bioengineered food. I have an Aldi, they have a slightly better selection of healthy food. However, the last 2 years the prices have gotten ridiculous. I really enjoyed this glimpse into your grocery world. Thank you for taking us along.

… and suddenly I’m very hungry 😂 Loved this video Colette, a great insight into the Irish food shop experience. I’m most impressed at the amount of Irish products available, I love the pride the Irish have in their country, it’s great to see. Sadly the UK is increasingly signed up to globalism. National pride and patriotism seem to be slipping away and annoyingly, these days, mistakenly get lumped in with something else deeply unpleasant and beginning with R 😣 I hope you and Patsy are well and fully prepared for the upcoming week of icy cold weather. Brrrrr ❄️🥶 Stay snuggly, stay safe ❤ xx

What a magnificent supermarket. The fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs, jams etc look delicious and there is a lot of variety. The breads and cakes look scrumptious and how wonderful local bakers supply the supermarkets with their home baked goods. I love the patriotism too. The prices are very reasonable compared to Australia. Great interesting video, thank you!

There’s nothing in a US grocery store for 79 cents. Not even a pack of gum, that goes for 3 dollars. And don’t even get me started on the lack of quality on the produce this time of year. Red grapes sell in a bag @ $9.99 for 2 pounds.

Thankyou, that was so interesting. That Fresh Today store was amazing. Everything looked so fresh and tasty, and so many real Irish products in Aldi. Most stuff on sale in my area of uk is sad, virtually out of date and totally non- organic. That’s when there is actually stock that hasn’t been replaced by cardboard shelf fillers showing things like happy chickens because they have run out of eggs or just a couple of products filling a whole section because there so much lack of choice, or simply empty shelves like this week when the only cows milk available was the filtered, lasts for weeks stuff.

I live on a few acres in Australia and am fortunate to be able to grow most of my own vegetables and citrus. I try and avoid all supermarkets if I can, preferring to shop at farmers markets but agree that Aldi has a competitive advantage when it comes to efficiency and savings. I am a vegan too but just be aware that many plant-based alternatives are considered ultra-processed food because they've undergone industrial processes to make them taste like meat and dairy. Consume at your discretion!

I visit my local farmers market weekly. I try to get as much as I can there. Unfortunately, not as many greens and salad veggies, but I can get eggs, microgreens and some breads along with teas and meats (I do eat some meats). I then have to go to the health food store and supermarket for other stuff. I must say all the produce in your market looks fantastic!

I enjoyed your shopping trip, Colette. The food prices here in central California are crazy. What's saving me are my dwarf fruit trees that I planted when I bought my home in the nineties. I have all the organic tangerines, lemons, nectarines, apricots, black mulberries, figs, plums and pomegranates that I could ever want. The trees can be purchased from big box stores for around twenty dollars each and provide you with hundreds of dollars worth of fruit, which I freeze in snack bags. I grow my tomatoes in tubs. I also save money by making most of my meals from scratch, like you, Colette. Anyhow, just some money saving ideas for people who are able to grow their own.

Loved this concept of going shopping with you, Colette!! Really enjoyed seeing the different products and f&v varieties available. More please! We don't do too badly in my town in regional Qld (down in Oz), and have an organic Co-Op with a large range too, but sadly, my nearest Aldi is about 40mins away. Weatherwise? Rain, Rain, Rain, but not cold (just a threat of more cyclones!) Beautiful country, though. All the Best, Colette. RjB :)

Thank you for that brill video! Just to say, re flaxseeds, I buy a bag of whole and use a cheap coffee grinder to grind up and either use straight away or store in the fridge for a few days. They pre-ground version in packets is less fresh and can go off a wee bit (oils go rancid).

Here in Kentucky in the United States , we don't have a large range of foods too choose from. What we do have is so terrible expensive, I am 76 and have never seen anything like it . 😢😢

My weekly shop in Tasmania is around 152 euros and that’s for two of us with only chicken for meat …. Doesn’t include fruit

What lovely stores you have. You have such a choice of vegan product too-not like here in Canada 😒. I love to cook from scratch too but it's nice to add in a little ready made now and again.

I love this, seeing the regional difference 😊 wish my aldi (Illinois USA) sold spicy cous cous & beet root and carrot salad 😬 so glad you’ve got reasonable prices there! (except on that kefir-ouch!) I’d love to try those ginger nut biscuits 😅 yay for neutrality 🤍 my genealogy is mostly Irish so of course it a bucket list visit for me

Gosh I wish we had a shop like this , we unfortunately have been taken over by mainly two major corporations here, Coles and Woolworths, in Tasmania. No Aldi here but we do have IGA. The prices at the two majors have gone through the roof since COVID, our Govt is holding an enquiry (for what good it will do, ) I believe our Woollies is owned by Blackrock and Vanguard 😢😫😫, I adore your videos Colette , thanks for taking us on this shopping trip ❤
