Notice the technician in the beginning of the video. He carefully stacks the strips of extra rubber on a shelf. These scrap pieces, when combined with steel netting, make the strongest condoms in the world.
Michelin tyres best on the market. Never found another brand that can match them for value and performance. I tried cheaper alternatives but the car felt so different....never again.
Yeah you could it’s really not all that hard the machine does most of the work for you all the components are made separately I make the steel belts that go in different tires it’s harder than actually building the tires because it has to be perfect and the scrap can’t be salvaged it’s the only material in the process that can’t be reused for tires
By weight, the difference between a new tire and one that is worn completely smooth is typically less than 5 percent. You're paying for the whole tire but only get to use about 5 percent of it. There must be a more efficient way to make tires so that the wearable tread can be replaced and the supporting structure can be reused indefinitely. Figure out how to do that and you will become a very wealthy man.
We do its called re tread. The reason people buy our tires is because a michelin carcass can be retreaded up to 3 times. Car tires, not so much because there has to be a blend of cost effectiveness vs wear
This video doesn’t show anything about how we actually make our tires or the materials going into them we have a really strenuous set of checks and balances for each process and every component is made to perfection the part I make is only allowed half a millimeter of variation I make the belts not the big rolls but the cuts that are for the specific tire codes. I work at the only Michelin plant that both produces all the materials and builds and cures the tires we actually ship our product to other Michelin plants to help them out
After selling and being a firm Michelin customer for 40 years I have switched. My last 3 sets of Michelin's have all began sidewall weather checking in less then 3 years. I was even turned down by my state during an annual inspection due to the cracks. If you want to make the compound more environmentally friendly then you have to match the price to the consumer....or is it you want to just make it cheaper and keep raising the price?
I wanted to watch how the tyre was / is made not the BS advertisement. I stopped watching 1:01. I don't want to waste my time watching stupid things. When you have sorted it and repaired the sound, I might? I am interested in Tech / Science not the BS

Could you try again with much better audio?

The audio is low. Barely able to hear the people talking. Please reload the video with higher audio sound.

Michelin tires are better than firestone
@Motorcycle 90 lol firestone😂😂😂

I love Michelin, but their tires don’t last very long at all.
@@Hellocali1 then you’re using them wrong lmao. I get a free set every 2 years and mine for sure last until then

They already did that decades ago. Semi tires had thick tread layers that could be re cut with new tread as they wore down.

after watching this im im glad i buy continental..
Lol Michelin is the best
I’m glad you buy Continental also... I’m a tire builder for them and they are better built tires than Michelin.
@@ooOoo..... well, I think the other way around. I’m an operator at Michelin and think they build way better tires

Michelin Tires are overpriced
Ever wonder why the Michelin Man is white, when he’s made out of tires which are black? Thinly vailed racism?
Umm no her is a cartoon character
@@thetechlibrarian I know he’s a cartoon character, but why isn’t he a black cartoon character? Seeing as he is made of tires and tires are black.
