Hey, I know the Terra Nova southern cross 2 and the abisko are two totally different tents but do you have any opinion on which you’d prefer for uk all year round camping? I can get both at quite a good price. I like the fact the terra nova is free standing but the space inside the fallraven looks v tempting. If you had any advice that’d be great, thanks! (Ps I’m 6ft1 so need a bit of space)
They are very different in terms of layout and setup. The Fjallraven is very easy and fast to set up, but does require a very large area of reasonable ground to pitch; as you say, the TN is freestanding which has obvious benefits. Both are storm worthy and fully suitable for 4 season UK camping. The porch on the fjallraven is absolutely huge and a great place to hunker down in foul weather. The only slight negative is that is does taper steeply toward the end, so yo being over 6ft may notice your sleeping bag hits the inner, which will result in the condensation hitting you. This tent suffers from condensation, but for one person is plenty roomy enough to make sure you don't come in contact with it. It's been with us during the recent snows in the Cairngorms and performed well.

I am 5ft 10 and i can sit upright at the entrance to the inner tent. The vestibule is even higher, and just last night we were both sat up cooking in there comfortably.
@@ascendmountaineering that’s for your reply mate , now for another question, if I wanted to use one or two times a year with the missus is it really big enough for 2 people, I have read a few reviews that say it’s really a big size one person tent , I will probably order one today but now am unsure weather the 2 or 3 would be my best bet 🫠

I think you could mate yeah. Especially if it has quick release wheels. But I'd say it'd fit fine.

100% mate. Should this live up to expectations then we are cutting back to 2 tents. The hope is this will cover a number of bases.
