Damn I need me an r32. The rotational sounded nice but it’s way to “poppy”. I’d rather have the continuous low rumble instead. But both sound awesome! Beautiful car, I’m definitely going to get one soon!
I used to be a domestic guy but living a couple years in japan has changed my perspective on cars. Definitely more of a lover of all cars now. This GTR has been incredibly fun so far!
Seems like a lot of the Group N rally cars are using Fuel Based for rotational idle / anti lag. How do you like the Haltech? I am torn between this and the Link G4 for my EVO rally car build.
Huh I would have thought rally would use ignition based because it cuts ignition events allowing unburn fuel to both cool the engine and provide extra exhaust energy when the ignition comes back. Much harder on engines but very effective. I love the haltech elite! It has way more features than I need and the ability to upgrade is incredible. The nexus software is intuitive, easy to learn, and expansive. Not to mention all the great support you get from the team at Haltech. It would easily be one of the first mods I do to any older efi vehicle. I haven't heard anything bad about the G4 but I would never change based on how well this ECU has worked for me.
Been trying to dial in the Fuel based rotational idle on my cousins RB20DET GTS4 powered by a Haltech Platinum Pro. Can’t seem to get it to bounce nearly as fast as yours. It’s maybe 1/2 to 3/4 the speed. Any tips?
I haven't used the rot idle in quite a while but from what I remember you have to make sure the IAC is cranked up and you could always try raising the cut rpm. Also the ignition cut is a much faster cadence.
@904Saleen oh I totally missed you had a platinum pro. That has a mixed ignition/fuel cut algorithm. I have another video on this channel with the platinum pro on this car.
They all run the same software so I can't see why they wouldn't be able to. It's really just opening up the IAC and cutting fuel/spark events. Not rocket surgery.
I have a r34 gtt with a haltech plug n play and want to set my rotational idle up like the ignition based one but not sure how to on the software. I don’t have the option to choose ignition or fuel. Are you playing with the maps or just rotational settings?
From what I remember the platinum pro plug n play didn't have an option to switch between ignition or fuel cuts. I am only messing with rot settings when adjusting the rot idle. One of my older vids of rot idle is done using plug n play and they all do sound different.
I have the Tomei 262 cams. I can't see how bigger cams would change the ability to use rot idle but I don't know why you would want to use it unless rallying the car. The big cams would probably sound better than the rot idle.
Platinum pro can only do fuel based. I could be wrong but I believe the Platinum pro "fuel cut" is a mixture of both fuel and ign as it sounds entirely different than the fuel cut on the Elite series.
Yes you can do it with the platinum pro but it didn't have the two different types like the elite series. I have a short video from about 4 years ago on my channel with it on the platinum. Can't really remember the settings exactly from the platinum but I do remember it being extremely easy to set up. Good luck!
It's supposed to be used for rally type racing to help increasing cooling and I think to help keep the turbo spooled. The rotational idle is typically set at a higher RPM than what I have mine set to.

I have to go into the haltech and push a button then restart the car. Pretty easy. I suppose you could hook it up to a dial and switch on the fly but not sure. Thanks man! It's pretty cool to be able to change it up whenever I want. I like them all for different reasons.

The starter is stock. What you're hearing is the lightweight aluminum flywheel as the starter turns it over.

@@Lada333 pretty much. It was an option in my Haltech so I decided to try it out. If you do a LOT of anti-lag it could be helpful to cool the car.

It determines what is cut per engine cycle; fuel or ignition.
My car did the rotational fuel based for free when the throttle body had issues 😅

What parts you change to rotational ignition based?
Just the ECU had to be swapped. I went with a Haltech Elite 2500 and it has been great but I'm sure other ECUs could enable this function.
