- Hi everyone and a big welcome to all my new subscribers 😁 In today's video, I will show you my new craft room along with lots of organisation ideas. Most of my furniture is from Ikea and fairly inexpensive mixed in with smaller storage ideas from charity & pound shops. I've utilised every bit of space in this room to turn it into a colourful and inspiring space.

Just know that you are not alone. I’ve been trying to get organized and am still working on it daily. But when you have so much stuff, really some of it needs to go. Luckily I have crafty family and I share with them. But I need to give more (and buy less) 😏

Thanks for the lovely tour round you crafty work space. Wow, it's looking so organised and really lovely. Your work tops so juicy looking. Tangy colours and glittered too, what else for a sparkly soul as yourself Sam. I think that looks fab and really adds a zip of colour. Bright and cheerful.

As for feeling a bit weird showing your private working space too all of us...I can understand that. Can't say I'd relish showing all to the world at large...haha, but I'm glad you did for us. We are nosy aren't we... but genuinely interested too. Your storage ideas I'm sure will be helping many crafters who are having difficile organising their craft supplies. I have to ask, with this incredibly nice and well stocked craft room, do you still find yourself needing to go to the craft store when you start a project? Ha! It’s just the nature of the beast, isn’t it? While I’m not a crafter, I do railway modeling and woodworking over here in the states. I try to keep a relatively well stocked workshop, but invariably, every new project begins with either a trip to the hobby shop, hardware store, Amazon order, or sometimes all three! Although we’re in different disciplines, there is a common thread, and that’s to have a comfy, well equipped and stocked “escape space”! Our HAPPY PLACE, where we can lock out the madness of the world for a bit! In closing, I watch craft room tours not because I’m preparing to enter the world of scrap booking, stamping etc., but rather due to the fact that we can learn from one another, and a really innovative storage hack in a She Shed or Craft Room can often be just the ticket for a vexing problem in the railway shop! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to look inside your intimate workspace! It’s the best I’ve seen!

I left you a message on your frame flip card tutorial...don't know if you saw it. I wanted you to know I made your Fair rides cards and entered them in my local fair last week and they won 1st place AND Best of Show!! The judge even wrote a short note on the entry tag which said "Beautiful! I just love them". So thank you so much for giving me your permission to
enter them. A lot of the women working in the fair craft barn really enjoyed them too. So..thank you for designing the dies! Can't wait for your "just a puppet" set gets back in stock cuz I really want them. You're the best!😻😸

You've done a great job of using your small space and making it look so pretty. I store my stencils in 8x8 photo albums and you can break your cutting plates in half and still use them when your cutting smaller dies.
For a small room you have this so well organized! I love watching craft room tours because I get ideas from each and every one of them. Thank you for sharing yours with us!

This is the 1st time I've watched a craft room tour from overseas, & it's amazing! Seems we're exactly the same, US & UK, which is awesome bc crafting is universal, & it's like a language unto itself. We're one big community:) I enjoy painting wood crafts, mixed media art on canvasses, glass crafts, etc, & now my Cricut, which has added a whole new reason to collect things!

This is the nicest craft room tour I've seen. At first I though it was so big , then you panned out and I realised its the same as mine. Your desk suspended between two book is just brilliant. Thank you for sharing its far from boring love it.

I was thinking the same! I have 2 cats that don't care, but a very smart one who knows which drawer I keep my ribbons & lace in, & another drawer that has these mesh bags he likes to chew on! I usually have my 3 cats lying nearby while I'm crafting, & I think they enjoy how calm it makes me:)

I thought I had a lot of 'stuff'. Well, now I'm going to have to buy more. lol. In comparison, I have very little and yet I have a LOT. Love all the inspiring videos you do.

Hi Sam, you've obviously put a lot of thought into the design of your craft room . . . well done to you, it's brilliant. I used to have a 3-bedroom house but now it's a 1-bedroom house with 2 craft rooms, a craft dining room, half a craft lounge, and half a craft conservatory . . . I think I need help!!! Great craft room tour. Great organisation. You asked about how individuals store stencils. I put mine in cello bags, depending on size of stencil but most go in 6x6. I cut off top of cello bag where the seal is, place some cheap white paper/card cut to size to make it more rigid and then place stencil inside. I can then label them and store them upright in my storage containers.
I had no idea that Ikea was more inexpensive than other choices I have looked at! Very good to know and really like the Alex drawers~!

I love your room! What a great way to put a lot of stuff in a small space. Can you come do my room now??? LOL For stencils, I put them in page protectors and store them in a 3-ring binder. It works great for me because I can go through them quickly and they stay flat.

Request for stencil storage ideas: I keep mine in a filing cabinet, in labelled suspension files, but it's the general concept - upright storage, can put one or many into a section, built-in label facility, can do it in various sizes e.g. portable desktop A5 to foolscap as a single concertina file or a desktop stand that takes the appropriate size suspension files. Can buy ordinary suspension files or coloured or plastic or nearly see-through or thick&gusseted (Rexel do a good set of expanding gusset suspension files but they're v. expensive) etc. Thoroughly enjoying your craft room tour - thanks so much!

Wow... your craft room is beautiful Sam... just an idea for storing your stencils, I keep mine in the poly pockets in a ring binder, with dividers for categories, this works great for me. Thank for the tour 😊
I used to keep my stencils in a large binder organized by category that I could simply flip through. However my stencil addiction has grown so large that I now have them in a drawer by category or company. I can still flip through them but it holds all of them. It’s working for now.
I also store mine in a binder I have 3 full right now
I love it, Sam. It is compact, but that makes it so easy to organise and get to things. My craft room is very similar to yours, but yours looks more organised. The Ikea storage systems are wonderful. I find a swivel chair is great asset too, I can spin around and get from one thing to another. I just need to do a bit more labelling, like you 😍

Thankyou Sam for a brilliant tour of your craft room. It has given me so many ideas of how to even try to sort things out. I have a cricut on a trolly but it's not stable. Your idea is so much better, especially with the table that folds down. The Alex drawers look very roomy and the pen storage is just brilliant. I currently have most of my stash in boxes and it takes ages to find that particular item I want. I am definitely going to my nearest IKEA to have a look at what they storage looks like. I was also tickled pink when I saw you pull out the Christmas box and said you were planning on doing something with the poinsettias I made for you, can't wait to see what you create with them!! Such a lovely and organized craft room. I love your light shade! Thank you for walking us through. It's good to have a look at how someone else stores things to get ideas that may work for me.
I'm currently working on getting my room organized, but have to share the space with shelves of stored things, so I'm getting that organized as well. My room isn't large, but it isn't tiny either. It's the second bedroom in our apartment... and the first room I've ever had that's designated as my crafting space. Trying to find spots for the other crafts I do has been a challenge, but that's what comes from doing several crafts that are all different and require different equipment and supplies.
I used my daughter's room when she moved out, & when it was all done, she moved back! So, I chose to use a loft space that overlooks the family room. It's still a work in progress, but it's exciting to really see all the things collected over the years!

I store my stencils the same I store my dies. In Avery pockets. With some cards stock works great
The most gorgeous craft room I’ve seen! So so practical…. Just how I want to organise mine. I will work with units I’ve already got but introduce your systems/ideas; such as the storage of scraps. I too need to see my supplies, otherwise I too forget I have them…… until I go and get more then find I already had some!!!🤨 . I’m also using an app called “Airtable” (as introduced by “It’s me! J.D!”) to catalogue supplies like ink, sprays, stamps and dies so when I’m out and see something on sale or that I want, I can check if I have it already first! (I’m a touch forgetful). Small space 😂😂😂 I have 2 little sets of trolley drawers and a corner of a dining room table, oh and my bed table for really bad bad poorly days and I am overwhelmed 😂😂. Lovely room. Xx

I am a visual person too, I love all of stuff in clear containers on my shelves, or everywhere I can see them so I don't buy doubles. lol

To store my stencils I use an A4 folder with clear sleeves. I lined each pocket with coloured paper and put a stencil in each side, that way you can see each one at a glance.

Fantastic video as helps with ideas for storage in my own craft room. Hubby seen I was watching and says “ Ho No, you’ll not fit anything else in that room” lol take I’ll have to change it again lol
Thank you for taking the time to go through it all in so much detail! I’m quite excited now as all my IKEA furniture arrives on Wednesday this week and I’ll hopefully finally be organised and not rummaging around!
Sam, I keep my stencils in a A4 folder that has clear sleeves. It is in a storage box with spin side open so you slide folder in and out and it keeps it from collapsing with weight of pages full. Very cheep from our stationary warehouse. Mine has 50 pages.

I think you are related Sam my new craft room is just like yours, 1 tip I gained was the roll on the door great idea, I also use the brother tape machine the hand held one which is brill for labeling everything, we even both like glass jars and I collect nice ones from charity shops, with a dashund each at our sides I think we must be from the same mould, thanks for the fab tour. sue

sometimes too much space is as much a curse as it is a blessing, it doesn't force you to be so organized or to think around corners. you just think I'll get another bookshelf
