    These is a freak occurrence, the tensioner is fine you can tell by the number of threads that are exposed. Someone did some work on this before and had no idea what they were doing. This engines are very solid.

    Helpful video. My 2014 VW Passat just had a similar issue with a rattling sound then a P0341 code. It is currently in the shop due to stretching of the timing chain and possibly more.

    I've broken so many bolts carelessly it's intimidating to dive into the engine like this...

    I'm getting ready to do a chain set on my 2017 TDI. I bought it at 40K. Has exactly the same symptoms.

    I`ve always wondered about torc when it comes to cars, (engines, and rims) because there`s never mentioned any lubricant with the torc . I work in the oil industri, and there is never any
    torc of bolts without a spesific lubricant. And there is also tables for what kind of lubricant to use together with the torc. My point is; you can`t supply a torc on dry bolts.

      155000 miles on a 2015 Passat 1.8. It has started having a loud rattle sound at startup when oil pressure is low and sometimes shuts off immediately. Try cranking again and it starts fine because pressure built up. Is this what yours was doing?

    Looks to me like the previous guy reused the torque to yield bolts and just cranked them in!!

    unfortunately after removing my timing chain, my camshafts rolled clockwise 2 teeth. I then replaced my timing chain. now the timing marks line up on both camshafts but my problem is that the crankshaft sprocket marks are no longer at TDC.
    what should I do to align the crankshaft and the camshafts?

    You lucked out by getting that exhaust camshaft when you did; they've been on back order for over 6 months! I don't know if you'll respond to this -- but I had to install a new intake camshaft in the car in a 2014 Jetta with a 1.8T; I have the service manual and have the cam set up in the install position, but it's slightly to the right of the timing marks on the cam girdle and I don't have access to the camshaft socket to slightly turn it to the left to line the mark up and put the lock in place. The crank is at TDC (or 1 tooth off at most). How the heck would I get the engine back in time?!

    What causes a 0022 code even though I changed the cam position sensor and I changed the solenoid and magnet and wiring?

    I am just wondering what part number you used? There are a million different camshaft part numbers.

      Contact your local VW dealer with your 17 digit VIN and they can provide you with pricing, part number and availability.

    Would you only replace timing chain if you received low oil pressure warrning?
    Is $1500 a reasonable cost to replace timing chain?

    • @premierautomotivediagnosti9432
      @premierautomotivediagnosti9432  8 месяцев назад

      Hello, there is a measurement test to determine if the timing chain is stretched or not. You can find that in the repair information. If the chain is the latest version and not stretched, no need to replace it.
      Thank you for watching our videos.
