  • I began when COVID hit the USA...I did a drive-through pick-up 🎻 to finally learn the instrument I’ve always loved! People said it was too hard to learn violin, and that I should just learn guitar instead...but...
It has now been over a year, and I’m still loving it! Here’s the first 6-months of progress 😄

As a violinist of almost 6 years, I’ll just say that your progress really is quite good, it took me a lot longer to get better with the bow, so keep up the good work👍

I already started bowing since my first days without pizzicato or anything like that and now I feel like I’m going too fast lol

@TwoSetViolin it’d be great if you could react! Give this person some good encouragement to keep going on her violin journey. You’re doing amazing!!

As someone who’s been playing for a rough 11 years and is the daughter of a violin teacher, that’s actually really impressive progress, especially considering how bad violin always sounds when you first start out, it’s not an easy thing to start playing 😂 your bow hold is especially amazing to me I couldn’t hold the bow so well for a long, long, time after starting. You sound awesome keep practicing and have fun!

I played TWO years of violin but I am autistic and I have ADHD and school was teaching me, they never accommodated for me. I wasn't allowed to draw the notes on my paper because we were expected to be able to process notes while moving at fast speeds. Never considering I have learning disabilities. That was 4-5 grade. Im now a sophomore and I have been learning on my own how to play piano, guitar and violin without the help of anyone because they never consider that is people with learning disabilities/disorders struggle.

Who starts to learn violin without a bow?

I love how nobody is talking about how YOU CAN PLAY IT LIKE A GUITAR AS A BEGINNER!!!!! And I love how I’m acting like my orchestra teacher right now screaming at my phone to put her wrist down!!!!! 😡

I feel like if I showed my violin progression no-one would believe me. I passed my grade 1 after just under 12 weeks of picking it up for the first time.

im glad someone's finally showing a realistic progress of learning an instrument. i would suggest that you try putting on tapes with your teacher as a guideline to work with intonation. your posture is good

Pretty interesting that you started by just doing pizz without the bow. This might be helpful for getting a first impression of how the fingers of the left hand have to be placed.

I've been playing the violin 8 years and I didn't improve as fast as you, you are doing great!!

As a violinist, this makes me so happy! Make sure to practice bow holds, and (though it’s a bit controversial) I suggest getting some tapes for your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. Practice hitting pitches with those fingers and being on the tapes to train your ears and muscles!

I love watching the masters play, but there's something special about watching beginners learn, and the first sounds they create.

I was expecting it to be like “one year of playing the violin”

  • @monserratvara-cazares7828

This brought so many memories of when I started playing 4 years ago.
