Great Job man! To help the studies, i´m spliting the music into the main parts: 00:04 - Intro Slap Groove 00:33 - Verse Slap 01:07 - Latin Pizicato Groove 01:47 - Short Intro Slap Groove 02:06 - Verse Slap 02:40 - Short Latin Pizzicato Groove 03:02 - Slap Solo 03:38 - Back to Short Intro Slap Groove 03:55 - Verse Slap 04:30 - Latin Pizzicato Groove 04:52 - Intro Slap Groove until the end
I've been playing bass for almost 40 years but those triplets are new to me. I was trying them out last night but need to work on the timing and speed. Any tips? Also, how did you figure out how Marcus plays it?
@@mattfoley6082 Hi brother i know this comment is 2 years later but if you haven't gotten those triplets down what i did was kinda place my index and middle finger in the spaces of the D and G string and really fast thumping on the E string and popping on the D and G string.
@@avishkafernando1299 Thanks. I figured it out but it took lots of practice and experimentation. I do it differently than the video. He holds his hand still and slaps/plucks with the thumb and 2 fingers. What I do is: 1. Slap with thumb. 2. Keep my whole hand stiff and sort of rotate away from the strings, plucking as I rotate away. I find this to be smoother and easier and it makes the triplets more even.
The solo with the fast dead notes is more like: (16h-32th-32th-16th-16th), not triplets. Even though its written differently in the Marcus Miller songbook.
Thank you for your comment. I don't have a contrabass, but I play a little electric upright bass.Traditional jazz fingering is also helpful when playing electric bass.
It's about two consecutive triplets during a solo. Play your right hand as follows: 1. slap the 4th string with your thumb 2. Pull the 2nd string with your index finger 3. Pull the 1st string with your middle finger 4. Strike the 4th string with your thumb 5. Rest 6. Pull the 1st string with your index finger(1st string 3rd fret note)
Salut Daren, content de t' entendre de nouveau sur un autre super Marcus. et très bonne idée de mettre aussi une vidéo uniquement la Basse. Merci BEAUCOUP et à bientôt. Bonjour de France.
My friend I learned a lot on this song that I really from you. You are an awesome bass player. You lose timing on 3:34-3:36. Listen closely. The cowbell is behind you a little. Remember this song has beat variations up and down beats. Best wishes your BAD ASS

I've wanted to know the secret to those triplets for over 20 years. You're the first to show it and explain it. THANK YOU.

@@mattfoley6082I also slowed down the video to 0.25x and worked my way up from there till i could do it at normal speed

Thank you.
Have you played contrabass before? When fingering, the shape is the shape of a contrabass fingering. Good music, bro

@@darrenbassist5572 wow that’s good
¿Y por que tablaturas y no notas musicales?
Esto se debe a que el espacio de la pantalla es limitado y hay muchos jugadores en Internet que quieren TAB. lo siento.
im having trouble on the triplets section, any tips?
It's about two consecutive triplets during a solo.
Play your right hand as follows:
1. slap the 4th string with your thumb

3. Pull the 1st string with your middle finger

5. Rest
6. Pull the 1st string with your index finger(1st string 3rd fret note)
