However long before i knew anything about the brands rep i came across an older bottle of Sahraa Oud. And it is a gem in my collection , hands down stunner. Not shy to say... I love what you mentioned. I hate the lack of honesty with those free bottles. I never see any of them say that they have not liked any niche fragrances given to them. They rip designers bc they rarely give anything free but these free niche bottles are everywhere
I was deeply into the niche game and slowly departed. I normally look for the nose behind fragrances and try sampling those; if positive, I pull the trigger.
You're always the best! Three gems (imho) from FDB if you want to put your nose on them and give us your appreciated, superb and unbiased opinion: the most wonderful to me, is Sahraa (or "Sahraa Oud" depending on the bottle batch) , after that I ove Oud Orange Intense and Oud Noir Intense! What a great videos. Once again thank you Marc for the honesty. I've had several from the brand and I like them. But not for tye asking price. They have an oud scent that I know you will enjoy. The 🧀 type of you I know you love and enjoy also. But I forgot which one was it. But I know you will find it through your great nose.
Integrity. A word I feel that is sometimes under utilized in our world as of late. Shame actually. I've been around for aloooong time as you know. I think I started collecting in or around 2006ish and of course viewing YT personalities, splitting etc. the whole gamut with the exception of being a reviewer. Just not my jam. No names dropped but there are soo many reviewers that started out all guns blazing. No nonsense reviews. I've seen these same reviewers become watered down versions of their old self. Albeit due to free bottles, sponsorships, of cold hard cash kickbacks. I get it. It's tough to overlook these incentives and still be objective. I've been offered my fair share of opportunities over the decade plus in this game. Business ventures with extremely popular influencers, commentary spots, FREE BOTTLES. lol I honestly have no idea why. lol I'm not even a YT personality. lol To me this hobby is just that...a hobby. I have no desire to profit from this passion. I have other ventures that cover that segment of my life. I don't get involved in the hype or the hoopla. If your fragrance connects to me in some way, I buy it. If the note break sounds interesting, I'll buy it. lol My weakness has always been blind buying....I just love the excitement of the anticipation I suppose. Roughly 2600 bottles in, I will openly admit, I've been burned a few times. It's ok...I just come back to it again. lol I appreciate the consistency you have always held onto through the years Marc. Even after taking a break every now and then, you just jumped back on the bike without having to switch gears much at all. Not so much for MANY in Fragcom. From this Old Head, I salute you for that. I hope others do as well. Some of these younger cats don't know what it was really like in Fragcom years ago....The Golden Years!!! lol Which is fine, most were still in grade school!! lol Totally get what you are speaking of regarding FDB and specifically those that you indirectly speak of. lol With that being said, I would definitely suggest you get on a few of their offerings. Blame the brands, honestly, as they cut off honest reviewers and the ones who rely on RUclips for their sole income get backed into fake/overly enthused reviews to ensure the gravy train rolls. I've been pretty underwhelmed by FdB, with a few exceptions, but mostly due to their price. It's just out of line with their quality, which often feels like a copy-brand with oud tossed in. Well..Im not a Frag du Bois lover..BUT..I Got PM and it's stunning as its strong, last all day, gets compliments. Yes it's pricey..but this one is 100% worth it.
Nah. Smells like a cheap American cigarette snuffed out in a dead squirrel. This is NOT a good scent. Perhaps, maybe, 100 years ago, this would cover the scent of a Pirate ship’s worth of 6 months of baths in only salt water. But this is not good. It will NOT get you compliments except from the wench barmaid that can’t decide whether you smell like ship poo or anything slightly not like ship poo. So this does not smell like ship poo. But think of a dead squirrel. And don’t skin it. Just light a match, forget about the fabulous scent of a burnt match cause that’s not here…I only suggested a match as a fire starter….you could use flint and steel, Bic lighter, Zippo (but even THAT smells good), or propane torch that sets the squirrel fur on fire. And now you’re smelling flaming squirrel fur. Throw in some regret for the price of a bottle, some melancholy for having ever watched anything “Producer” Michael has ever “produced” (cause I’m sure it sucked anyhow). By the way. Who is producer Michael. What has he produced? Was it the Beatles? Journey? Nine Inch Nails? Kanye? Beyoncé? Whatever. I’ve smelled feet that smell better. I’m talking some really nasty feet on carpet never cleaned. Walked on with ocean water and with multiple dogs and cats. And for the love of no one could you please just pronounce Parfum as PAR FUM. ‘Cause your Canadian French pronunciation of per-fer has me wanting to bang my face into a bottle of discontinued Aunt Jemima. Good review Marc FDB before all the Hype influencers came, I remember smelling their selection of ouds Blue, orange,Juane, Nior intense and heritagethinking this is very good refined quality scents… which smell familiar and get close to the skin to quickly, they are overpriced considering what you want majority of the time in a fragrance. Preach! You're more forgiving than me I have no desire to go anywhere near this brand, and I'm completely soured on PdM and a few others now also. Maybe the fragrance is good, but it would have to be true of the ages masterpiece to get me to try it after all the hype "influencer" marketing.
I also hate the industry, but still I judge each scent on its merit. I dont like PdM and Initio, but still I do have one single bottle from Pdm and one tester of Initio because ... I like these two scents, regardless of the industry. Only the scent matters, not YT noise and not even prefirmance (respray) - only the scent !
Funny thing is, of the 8 or so samples that were in my discovery set, the one from that billboard "review" channel was by far the worst of the bunch. This one was among the best, and I'm not a huge patchouli lover. It's just a dang well-made frag. Eager to see how some of the others pan out.
I have a few from them that I really like but I have to agree with you to pay that much money. I’m not sure of all of their stuff is worth it, but they do have some really good stuff in the lineup.

It was okay. Very smoky or leathery without the leather? Hard to describe. One of the reasons I don’t buy FDB or Roja. Posers. Such as Demi’s frag…smells like Royal Crown Sultan. Which she always had high opinions of.
Yeah. I guess I was smelling my taint right before I smelled this on my skin. Don’t ask me HOW I was smelling my taint. Just take my word for it. So if I had to teach you, take your index finger. Okay. Just guess from there. The shine he talks about is like if you took the “Austin” Martins headlights and just rammed them into your face. This stuff is so bad. There is nothing powdery or creamy or chalky in it. It’s just dead squirrel fur. Think foul. Wait. Remember that awesome video by Lil Nas X? Montero? Remember going down on the devil? So this smells worse. In the same vein, but worse.
Finally a breath of fresh air. Tired of all these "influencers" calling everything a "masterpiece".

I always enjoy Producer Michael’s show. Particularly the watch content. I wouldn’t trust his nose on fragrances, but I have never smelled a FDB.

Fdb is one of my favourite brands. High quality perfumes, sometimes performance is not very good but still solid brand. Prefer it to Roja 🤭
