So no, horror movies do not, generally speaking, promote violence, in fact they shine a very negative light on it as something that sick, twisted and anti social individuals carry out.

My brother was deaf his entire life, and he was a genuinely good person, with a gentle soul. He was the only person i ever saw that had a Disney effect with animals, as ive seen squirrels, and birds come up to him with no fear at all. I think they both have a point. Sam's point is people tend the value all hip hop equally. White girls sucking Soundcloud rappers off "for tha culture", whereas most of it is incredibly derivative and has zero artistic or sociological value. I think Yung Lean's earlier output is a testament to that. An upper middle class Swedish white kid growing up in one of the most well to do countries in the history of humanity with incredibly strong social safety nets psychobabbling about "mosquito tits" and "zooey deschanel lookalikes". It's all style no substance. And the genre itself is very stale and inert. In 30 years, we've seen an evolution from The Beatles to Scandinavian melodic death metal. With hip hop there are basically 4-5 significant paradigm shifts in 30 years (from Kool G, to Biggie/2Pac, to Eminem/Everlast/Bizkit, to Lil Jon/Lil Wayne/50 to Kanye/Drake to Soundcloud rappers). Very little progression in terms of themes or even sound. The opposite point is that you can't trace hip hop to a specific point in time. It was an evolution from Shakespeake, to beat poetry, to slam poetry. Putting Keats to the beat doesn't diminish the value of the poetry. And some of hip hop lyrics you can read as poetry. Sam's argument is reductive, but I tend to agree with the sentiment. Most of the people you see on No Jumper podcast chasing cloud are sub 70 IQ ("70, ni&&a!!!") who hardly qualify as artists.

I’ve heard good rap. It exists. Its not the actual genre that is degenerative. Its the culture that has been permeated around it. The “gangster rap” and it is sadly the most popular style of rap. I think bone thugs and harmony had the right idea when they realized their gangster stuff was counterintuitive so they ended up rapping about God and stuff like that. Then theres fun things that have come from rap like trip hop and experimental stuff. Aesop Rock, Why?, doesone etc. The thing that needs to be addressed is that gangster rap is NOT art and never will be. My brother was deaf his entire life, and he was a genuinely good person, with a gentle soul. He was the only person i ever saw that had a Disney effect with animals, as ive seen squirrels, and birds come up to him with no fear at all.
Over the years i saw how deaf folks are often treated poorly, especially from people on public transportation, and by the middle eastern dudes that work in the bodegas.

White girls sucking Soundcloud rappers off "for tha culture", whereas most of it is incredibly derivative and has zero artistic or sociological value. I think Yung Lean's earlier output is a testament to that. An upper middle class Swedish white kid growing up in one of the most well to do countries in the history of humanity with incredibly strong social safety nets psychobabbling about "mosquito tits" and "zooey deschanel lookalikes". It's all style no substance. And the genre itself is very stale and inert. In 30 years, we've seen an evolution from The Beatles to Scandinavian melodic death metal. With hip hop there are basically 4-5 significant paradigm shifts in 30 years (from Kool G, to Biggie/2Pac, to Eminem/Everlast/Bizkit, to Lil Jon/Lil Wayne/50 to Kanye/Drake to Soundcloud rappers). Very little progression in terms of themes or even sound.
The opposite point is that you can't trace hip hop to a specific point in time. It was an evolution from Shakespeake, to beat poetry, to slam poetry. Putting Keats to the beat doesn't diminish the value of the poetry. And some of hip hop lyrics you can read as poetry.
Sam's argument is reductive, but I tend to agree with the sentiment. Most of the people you see on No Jumper podcast chasing cloud are sub 70 IQ ("70, ni&&a!!!") who hardly qualify as artists.

I’ve heard good rap. It exists. Its not the actual genre that is degenerative. Its the culture that has been permeated around it. The “gangster rap” and it is sadly the most popular style of rap. I think bone thugs and harmony had the right idea when they realized their gangster stuff was counterintuitive so they ended up rapping about God and stuff like that. Then theres fun things that have come from rap like trip hop and experimental stuff. Aesop Rock, Why?, doesone etc.
The thing that needs to be addressed is that gangster rap is NOT art and never will be. Its hardly passable as music and thats only because it has a “beat.” ALLL mainstream music for the past 40 years has had an agenda behind it when people realized you could turn culture into an industry and use social engineering tactics to basically weaponize the culture and profit from it as well as divide generations every 10 years by creating a line in the sand that makes them struggle to understand each other.
