This brought me to tears. How cruel of the British to arbitrarily draw lines on a map, divide and conquer, so much blood is on their hands. God Bless you and your dadi-ji. Sending love from a Canadian-Pakistani, Happy Independence Day and thank you for the message of peace ❤️
The Radcliffe line, dividing Pakistan and India in 1947, were not arbitrarily drawn. The border emerged out of bitterly fought political battles. The outcome was indeed cruel and inhuman, of course.
@@Makrania No, Radcliffe line was drawn up much earlier. The idea was to create chaos and killings. This is why the borders were not made clear right up the date of independence. The British wanted Indians to suffer and fight each other. They were playing muslims vs Hindus since at least 1857. Bengal partition in 1905 also happened for the same divide and rule. This is why the British are blamed and will never be forgiven.

The way he slaughtered Hindus in Calcutta even before the partision of lndia through his Direct action call is an example. its a reminder to all those that feel secularism is the way forward.......secularism is good but people always have to be cautious of the intentions of the others
Secularism and minoritarianism are two entirely different things. Secularism means that the nation would not be theocratic at all and there will be freedom of religion. But it definitely not means that it justifies those Indian political parties' who openly insult the ancient culture and heritage of India and praise invaders & fanatic rulers to appease minority vote-bank.

My Pranam to your grandmother for imparting us with such a frightening and spine chilling story of partition. Coming it from an eye witness is a very different experience at all. We think about leaving the scary past behind and move ahead in the future, but every year we get to learn so many new horrid stories of partition that forces us to dig more about history and the more we learn, the more horror it gets. Although I’d disagree with some views about Hindu Muslim topic but that’s a different debate. Please deliver my admiration and gratitude to your grandmother for sharing this story with us all.
Same thing happened with Muslims in Indian Punjab when they had to run away from their birth place and migrated to Pakistan. Both India and Pakistan MUST officially apologize at least to those families on both sides of the border who lost their love ones in this bloody partition.

I live in Karachi. I am 32 years old. My grandfather came to Karachi from Dehli in 1952. Karachi is the best urban area of Pakistan. - We are called Urdu speakers here - We have the best job and business opportunities here because the locals like Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan and Baloch are illiterate and ignorant so Urdu speakers get the upper hand here. Yes - this movie is actually made on us - thank God my grandfather made the right decision and came to Pakistan - here we have the best and luxurious house to live in, there is a best car to drive, there are great opportunities for education, I myself Has done MBA - My father has two private schools and we are providing education - by the grace of God the locals who live here are oppressed and respect us and are afraid of us because we are in the majority in Karachi - I don't know What about our Muslim brothers who are left behind in the province of UP ? What are there political, economical and social issues now?
I was born in 48. I am a Pakistani and have heard these stories from my father and mother. My father was from gujranwala and serving in the Royal Indian airforce then, at bhopal. My mother was from gujrat Pakistan, and before that from hosharpur. Stories are the same, be they Muslim, Hindu or Sikh. So terrible, horrific, our parents and grand parents lived through and survived. When I hear these stories, I am moved to tears. May God grant peace to all those who perished during partition. Ameen. We must ask our elders as to what happaned then and document, otherwise after that generation is gone, these harrowing stories will be lost forever. I pray for peace among the people of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
@@GarvitaSethi you have done a great service, and your grandma too. I wish and pray that these stories bring us all together. My father's squadron mate in India was a Sikh from faisalabad, Arjun Singh. My father tried to convince him to come to Pakistan, but he refused, saying Muslims will not let the Sikhs live in peace. How right he was. Layer he became the Air Chief of the Indian Air Force, while on this side my father became the Air Chief of the Pakistan Air Force. My father's name is mentioned on the IAF Web site. It gives me a proud feeling, and sets me wondering, that in reality, we are all the same people. Thanks again.
Muslims were given option to stay in secular india.. Stories were not the same for hindu muslims or sikhs..muslims didnt have to let go of their property and run, muslims who went to pakistan went by their own wishes.

Why blame only British it was muslims who demanded a separate nation.
@@asmirann3636 Bull shit. It was Jinnahs Two nation theory which caused all these. deaths. Jinnah was a bigger criminal then even Hitler. its a reminder to all those that feel secularism is the way forward.......secularism is good but people always have to be cautious of the intentions of the others
