    This was a very thorough video. Thank you so much for doing this! I was going back and forth between these two books but now I feel confident that I can make a decision. Math 8/7 is what my child needs. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much for making this video. I was about to purchase Algebra 1/2 for my daughter, but this video has persuaded me to get the 8/7 instead! 8/7 will be a much better fit! Thanks!!

    The odd answers to the practice problems (actually the entire problem set) is at the back of the "homeschool packet" after the test keys. It has the same short format as the back of the textbook rather than like the full on solutions manual. I think the idea is that the kid can "self-grade", but without full solutions so they can still try to think through the problems.

      Are the full solutions anywhere in algebra 1? Or only just answers?

    Thank you, thank you for making this video! We are going to be using Saxon in the fall and I was so torn on what to do for my middle schooler! This was very helpful!

    Thanks for this video. Im in the process of switching from Singapore math to Saxon and trying to figure if we should start with 8/7 or Algebra 1/2.

    The solutions manual is very helpful. It shows you how the problem can be worked out and the answers to all the problems in it. It is a separate book you have to purchase.

      Yes, the solutions manual is super helpful! I certainly don't have time to work out every problem to make sure his answer is correct!

    All of the answers from all problems are worked out in the solutions manual for Algebra 1/2 - 2nd edition. Maybe other editions are different? We are switching to Saxon 1/2 from Oak Meadow Maths 5, 6 and 7. Thanks so much for explaining the differences. We have both books and my son decided to do Algebra 1/2 instead of Saxon 8/7 since Oak Meadow 7 seems to cover all similar material and also have no reason to rush it as well. Thanks again!!!

    Thank you SO much for making this video. We are about to finish 7/6 and I was wondering if we could skip 8/7 and jump into Algebra 1/2. I’m sure we will be better off doing 8/7 for the reasons your mentioned.

    We like the saxon math because it repeats a lot and we need that.

      Yes, I love the curriculum too! I don't really find that they forget anything as we move from level to level. There is plenty of built in review!

    We are starting 8/7 and I wanted to buy a cd-rom to help with it and I was looking at the one taught by Art Reed, we don't like him at all, does anyone have an opinion on him and maybe a suggestion for a different teacher on a cd-rom for saxon 8/7 ? Greatly appreciate any thoughts.

    • @livingthegandeelife5565
      @livingthegandeelife5565  2 года назад +2

      I do not have any experience with any CD-ROM teaching. However, I have heard a lot of great things about Nicole the Math Lady. She teaches the Saxon lessons in video form and you can even subscribe for grading and extra help, I believe. I am debating on trying that this year because it would save me a lot of time from teaching four different levels of math in a day with my kiddos!

    We are currently doing 8/7 and my daughter really struggles with math. I am looking at doing Algebra 1/2 to reinforce the concepts ... Did that work out for you ?

    • @livingthegandeelife5565
      @livingthegandeelife5565  Год назад

      Yes, I do think that extra year to reinforce those concepts while also getting acquainted with a new format (the Algebra 1/2 book starts a new layout and design) was extremely beneficial. It also helped my son to be able to start reading his lessons on his own and without my assistance. Since a lot of it was review, he was learning how to "teach" himself the lesson without my introducing the topics. It was nice to really step back and let him figure it out on his own. That may or may not be the case with your daughter, but either way, I found it to be helpful and intend to do it with future kids!
