      Hello! Have you found any reviews for those families that have used this for college bound students? I don't know why, but I have other moms trying to convince me that this isn't enough for my college bound daughters who plan to go into a science field (biology for undergrad and then on to veterinary medicine). They said it may be enough for non-STEM degree students. Other than the Denison website, I haven't seen true reviews about how well this prepares a student for college math or even college entrance exams.

    My daughter doesn't really struggle with math, but she's pretty indifferent towards it. She's loving the Algebra 1 course! It has been so nice for us to be able to finish math during the day, and not having to wait on dad for a few problems every night🙂

    Love this!! My daughter sounds like your daughter and she LOVES teaching textbooks, but only bc of the video and "desk pet" (shes 5th grade) but I've heard there are gaps in TT so I thought abt switching to Saxon with video, but now ill have to look into this! She NEEDS the video aspect for sure and I love that they have the "cheat sheats" which will be gold for her!

    I just got the pre-algebra in the mail a couple days ago! I’m so excited for my 8th grader to use it! We are starting it Monday! My son does pretty well in Math but I liked how Denison had online videos but still had book work as well. Having him actually working the problems is what made me buy this.

    Thanks so much for this in-depth review & flip through!! I am going to give this a try for my 8th grader. We did math-u-see pre algebra last year & tried their algebra 1 this year and it was a disaster…I tried switching to the Critical Thinking Co Pre-Algebra; got through a few lessons and having issues yet again! So I love that Denison has instructional videos, cheat sheets, and what seem to be great practice with the concepts/skills in the workbook!

    FYI: After going through their website, the “Advanced Algebra & Trig” course is NOT Pre-Calculus. They state that on there; they say it is more like a course to prepare students for Pre-Calc or an Algebra 3 course.

    Thanks SO much for this!! I have a question, what was the last Saxon math level that your daughter completed?? I always thought pre-Algebra was supposed to be done in 8th grade 🤔

    • @momoflittleladies
      @momoflittleladies 11 месяцев назад +1

      Schools typically allow advanced students to do pre algebra in 7th or 8th grade. Students struggling with math can do it in 9th grade and then still complete the 3 years worth to graduate (that is what is needed for public school students in my state).

    • @OneBlessedMess
      @OneBlessedMess  11 месяцев назад +1

      The school I attended growing up did pre-algebra in 7th grade. I figured we have a good window to get a grasp on algebraic concepts going into high school! 😊

    • @nygal80
      @nygal80 8 месяцев назад +1

      I used to teach middle school and high school math. Most of middle school math is “pre-algebra”, so many students learning from home are ready for a formal pre-algebra curriculum around 7th grade, which allows them to take algebra in 8th grade and get to calculus by 12th grade. This would be considered an “honors” sequence in most traditional schools.

    My daughter is similar to yours in math (hates it, not her strong subject and complains) but I forced her to use Abeka until 6th grade (we switched a lot when she was in 1st/2nd). She is now on her second year of TT. I feel like switching math curriculum every year would cause more stress to my daughter (because each one is layed out differently and has different scopes and sequences). I don’t want gaps and TT does cover everything needed if my girl keeps with it (her National test was good this spring too!).
    Just want you to know it’s okay to force your daughter to stick with something, even if it’s hard and not fun… we all have to do things we don’t enjoy because that is life and adult hood 😅

    • @OneBlessedMess
      @OneBlessedMess  11 месяцев назад +5

      I definitely think there are certain things to stick out just because that's life for sure! But for us, I know math is a sore subject for my daughter, and it makes the learning environment more enjoyable and helps create the homeschool I want by finding good 'fits' for each of my kids. It's one of the beautiful things about homeschooling! 💗
