Thanks so much John. Once again your videos have inspired another purchase! lol I bought the Ion Pro RT for the front and the Flare RT For the back yesterday. I can use the Ion Pro for front day time and it’s also bright enough to light up the road if the sun beats me home. Thanks for your awesome videos. I’m loving my Domane SL 6. I can’t thank you enough!! Hope you’re well. 💛
@@johnmanuel7561The sun beat me home tonight and I was so glad to have them. That front light is super bright and I felt safe all the way back home knowing that cars could see me. @trekbicycle y’all REALLY need to make John an ambassador!! Read through the comments of any of his videos- he has single handedly influenced the purchase of countless Domanes and Trek accessories!! Make this man an ambassador!! Send him an application!!
I have the Flare RT on the rear of my DS3 and the bigger light on the front. That plus a handlebar mounted mirror and I feel much safer on the roads around my house. It seems that cars notice me much sooner and have more time to give me plenty of room when passing me. Thanks for the links to the mounts as I will be putting them on my Domane SL4 when it arrives in late March.
You’re welcome John. I noticed that the cars seem to notice me a lot sooner and I feel like they even give me more room when I have the light on. Those mounts look nice and will look good on the SL4.
Thank-you for posting this review. I need a front flashing/strobe light for daytime use that will last at least one single ride of between 4 and 6 hours. I absolutely do not ever trust or believe manufacturers "claimed" run times, ever. They are usually not even close to accurate (not singling out Bontrager here, they all make the outrageous marketing claims for run times). My current cheapie light "claims" 6 hrs. run time in strobe mode - I get 2 hours tops in real life on a full charge. What has been everyones approximate run time experience for the Bontrager front light in daylight flashing mode for a single charge?
I have both lights and mounts on my Domane SLR7. They fit and work well BUT don’t get close to the advertised hours. As I don’t ride in the dark I don’t care about the front. But the blinking red runs out about 3ish hours. I’ve added the Varia 515 radar light to the seat post. Get the car warnings on my Garmin. I activate the old light under the seat when I want longer or more light action.
Charles...I would definitely ask for a replacement...I have 3 sets of these lights (family bikes) and all of them lasts at least 13 hours on daytime flash mode. I have the Varia 515 as well, but only turn on the radar to save battery for when I need the secondary lights in late afternoons and evenings. But definitely ask to see if you can get a replacement on your light set.
Loving the videos mate...keep 'em coming! That said I'll never buy a Bontrgaer light again. I've had 3 rear Flares fail on me, two of them twice! ( both had electrical AND mounting failiures ) The workmanship and quality control is appalling; they have very limited recharge lifespans. The other concern we ( the cyclists of Bristol, UK ) had was the rear light is TOO bright. The Bontrager company was one of the first to pioneer the idea of " rear lights visible in bright sunlight " to make sure you're seen under all conditions. I myself was swayed by this compelling argument until I thought " If a driver can't see you in broad daylight then surely you're dead anyway? " That and if you're stuck behind one of these ( either as a driver or a cyclist ) they're over-brightness is a damned nuisance.
@@johnmanuel7561 Yeah I use these lights as my "always on" lights for safety (had these running on daytime flash for over 14 hours)...and if I'm riding into late afternoon or night I use Ion Pro RT as my main headlights (have run this light for over 2 hours on the brightest mode).
Guys .. these are Chinese Ali express lights with a buntrager writing. Just get brighter ones if your are concerned with visibility, it will be 15$ from China and it will get the job done ! These people charge over 100usd and then still sell you the adapters

Then you use the light mount I mentioned in the video and mount it to the bottom of the wahoo mount. Think that set up looks the best. Hope this helps.
Hey man. I just ordered a new domane sl5. The salesman said it comes with a blender mount for the stem and the rear light mount. I double checked and he assured me they come with them.

Hi, quick question on the front mount. I also have a Domane and just received the Blendr High ION Light Mount. Thinking about buying a Wahoo bike computer and would like to know how this small plastic bracket attaches to the bike/handlebar and do I need to buy another attachment for it all to sync together neatly?? Help would be appreciated thanks.

When I bought a commuter comp seat for my marlin, it came with a little mount so the flare can go on the back of the seat!
This looks like a good setup for daytime running lights, but how do they do when riding at night? Are the bright enough?
I would only recommend them in a very well lit area at night so you can be seen. Not so much to illuminate where you are going.
